Who was smoking the crack pipe?

by Chade

Back to Common Grounds.

When did this thing happen? I've been out the entire day. Man, I should probably log on...

I don't see any Celestians complaining. Probably because all of our people who usually complain don't play anymore. sad.gif Heck, how many Celestians even frequent the forums anymore?

Oh yeah, I'm a big fan of hai'Gloh and Xion both not taking sucking any power at all.

And 10k a day? Holy crap; we're lucky to get over 2000 here. And that's only when people like Vermilla and Telperion go on essence gathering sprees and bring in 500 a weave.

Every Domoth and almost every village really helps with power wink.gif

As an outside observer, I would like to suggest that the 125K number, be reduced to say 95K or maybe 90K.
I think those numbers are still large, but not numbing.
Razenth2009-07-30 05:44:59
Man, if Celest lost 125k, it'd take us IRL months to get back. Heck, when things were really in the hole, it took us a month just to make up hai'Gloh. Lucky Glom, you can make it back in 13 days! 13 is an ominous number.

Hopefully their tree suddenly implodes upon itself and.. and.. it automatically citizens me. confused.gif
It doesn't have to make sense.

I am honestly astounded by some of you who think 250k drained all at once is fair. I can only hope you take your own advice when this inevitably bites you in the ass one day.

Also, Xion Initiative isn't exactly impossible to complete when you raid at a time when no one else is really about, as demonstrated.

The fighting itself has been fun though, as people have said, the power drain is the ballbuster.

Bah! Read the histories lest you forget how important Maeve actually is and what she represents! You can't kill her without killing off the forest communes... or wait, is that what you... *gulp*

Kill her now, that way She has to release the Cities! DO IT.
Sarrasri2009-07-30 06:42:23
This just keeps getting better. Now Maeve is roaming Faethorn, is an invincible mob until we weaken her, and is indescriminately attacking members of both forests. Fun.

I don't really have an org...I hop too much.
Talan2009-07-30 06:53:22
Heh. Okay, you lost me at "invincible supermob raids org territory." Sorry, Eventru.

Just so everyone is clear, this is what went down:

2009/07/29 08:39:10 - Narsrim has added 10000 power by bringing the Elemental Planes to supremacy over Faethorn.
2009/07/29 12:37:00 - Malarious added 5000 power by feeding the corpse of Albion, the First of the Crones to Gorgulu
2009/07/29 12:29:38 - Narsrim added 5000 power by feeding the corpse of Selene, the First of the Mothers to Gorgulu
2009/07/29 12:24:26 - Ceren added 5000 power by feeding the corpse of Lhiannan Shee-Slaugh to Gorgulu
2009/07/29 12:16:37 - Melville added 5000 power by feeding the corpse of Gwyllgi, the Dog of Darkness to Gorgulu

The other two avatars went to doing Xion. All six Avatars died. Thus, Mag gains 30000 power for killing 6 Avatars, which is exactly what we would have gotten for killing them and handing them over to Gorgulu normally. In fact, we would have gotten more for that, as we would have 2 extra heads on Gorgulu to multiply the bonus power we get for influencing fae.

Meanwhile, Gorgulu drains 10000 power from each commune, for eating two Avatars a peice (5000*2). Again, exactly what would have happened without the event.

Last, Xion drains 25000 power from each commune, bringing the total up to -125000 from each commune TOTAL.

However, only 50000 of the 250000 power figure being trotted around is actually part of the event. The rest was just Magnagora doing anti-commune four other quests in addition to Xion. Quests that have existed since before Glomdoring was even a commune. And nobody has complained untill now, when Seren and Glom, the two strongest orgs in the game, get hurt by a crew from Mag and Celest, the two weakest orgs who had to do every single anti-commune quest in the game at once to produce this sort of effect.

So, yeah...

EDIT: Opps. I made a mistake with the addition here.
Furien2009-07-30 06:57:55
I decided to log in.

To Maeve attacking people at Ethermother.

What a fail event.
Diamondais2009-07-30 07:04:39
Despite the negativity, despite what anyone wants to say about my actions. I enjoyed a very very rare chance to interact with mobs and witness some fun encounters.

So thanks so far.
Ilyarin2009-07-30 07:08:03
Okay. Only just woken up! I didn't expect this to happen at all! Heh. 125,000 power is a lot. However, I am sure Estarra knows this and I think that the actual net loss post-event will be greatly below this. Weakening Maeve and her returning to normalcy are pretty much guaranteed, and I'm sure when that happens a portion of stolen power will somehow be retrieved.

I think the hit to morale is about the same as when the communes first bound Raziela. I remember the outcry from Celestians being insane, and we were (I think) pretty much just told to deal with it. So we did. For the last 37 years and 9 months IG. You must have known that Raziela would eventually be unbound, and that when it happened, it would be something spectacular.

I think we all need to embrace the idea rather than the execution of the new forum policy and bite our tongues until the event is completely over and we can assess what has happened without the heat of passion leading us awry.

That said, I'm pretty sure Celest will never instate a law banning the conversion of fae ever again. tongue.gif

I think your maths is bad. How does that bring the total to 125000 from each commune.
Razenth2009-07-30 07:13:34
Yeah, that's terrible math.
Nienla2009-07-30 07:13:36
Honestly, the event is a good concept. It was executed poorly, not a surprise, and at a poor choice of time.

If Maeve wasn't invincible, people weren't constantly dying on their Ethereal Counterparts, and Mag being able to sit on their asses and collect nearly 300k power from one off-peak raid. Yeah, I think the event may have been more enjoyable for both sides. As well as if the Ethereal Realms were given the SAME chance when we performed hai'Gloh -four- times. I am well aware that the Project Xion, Hai'gloh, etc. are all different from this event. I'm just saying that the administration picked a piss poor time to do it as well as fail to properly execute the event. We're not given any resolution. Instead, we're only given the promise of, 'Oh! Well the event isn't done yet!'
Unknown2009-07-30 07:13:40
Heh, if anything, we lost 125k -on top- of that.
Shiri2009-07-30 07:14:37
It's pretty dubious if you get 5k per avatar anyway. Also all this drain was instant, no "they get a whole year to 10AM raid you."
