As pointed out, Iytha's assumptions are incorrect. The 125,000 power is a separate occurence in itself - so Magnagora gains even more than just the initial 250,000 power for this 'event', it gains what's already been previously set with the normal power buffs from killing Avatars and the Initiative quests.
Unknown2009-07-30 07:17:28
I agree, turning in DL's should net communes slightly more than 100 power per corpse, incidentally.
Razenth2009-07-30 07:17:53
Can we get some powerlogs from Glom or Seren's side? I want to see where all these numbers are coming from.
Oh, and I guess we got Mag logs, but how about those too? Like, this 125k drain, is it showing up on the Mag logs as an influx?

Okay. Only just woken up! I didn't expect this to happen at all! Heh. 125,000 power is a lot. However, I am sure Estarra knows this and I think that the actual net loss post-event will be greatly below this. Weakening Maeve and her returning to normalcy are pretty much guaranteed, and I'm sure when that happens a portion of stolen power will somehow be retrieved.
I think the hit to morale is about the same as when the communes first bound Raziela. I remember the outcry from Celestians being insane, and we were (I think) pretty much just told to deal with it. So we did. For the last 37 years and 9 months IG. You must have known that Raziela would eventually be unbound, and that when it happened, it would be something spectacular.
I think we all need to embrace the idea rather than the execution of the new forum policy and bite our tongues until the event is completely over and we can assess what has happened without the heat of passion leading us awry.
That said, I'm pretty sure Celest will never instate a law banning the conversion of fae ever again.

It's not even a hit to morale, 'woe is us' style, it's 'Oh god, this?' in the 'You give us a reason to kill Maeve but make her invulnerable so we can be rid of capricious NPCs that strongarms us into events?' way.

I think the silly thing is how it went like this:
-Commune vs. Cities starts
-Hai'Gloh performed to counter Nifilhema's Plot
-Xion Initiative is discovered, Communes assume it's in tandem with Nifilhema's Plot

I think that's the main reason most people are bent out of shape. Where is our event that turns the Cosmic Planes into Ethereal and loyal to Faethorn? It's that sort of thing that bothers me. Especially if Project Xion and this 'plot' are not related to each other. The admin couldn't wait to do this quest until Xion was completed? No. We have to continue this cherade of, 'Well. The events not done yet.' Yet, I've heard very little to imply that this event is going into any particular direction besides killing forestals with an invincible mob in their own Ethereal counterparts.
Ilyarin2009-07-30 07:22:44
... You're complaining when you get that much from a tainted fae? That's like 1k power back for every 3 fae.
Razenth2009-07-30 07:22:45
Hey Alianna? Think about how we felt when we found out there actually WAS a hai'Gloh. If there wasn't one, this probably would've all been done by late May and we would be happily back at our traditional enemy's throats.
EDIT: I don't care about the power thing. Maybe its too little, maybe its too much. Prob a little on the steep side; should've kept it under 6 digits, makes it seem like less. Anyways, where's your quest to etheralize cosmic? You pretty much had that when you went and bound Raziela.
EDIT2: Crap, you're getting more power from purifying fae than we get in a whole weave. Last one doesn't count; still trying to figure out how it spiked from 900 to 9000.

I'm just saying that the administration picked a piss poor time to do it.
As I think Estarra said, the possibility for this (and other outcomes) was set up months ago, and has since been driven entirely upon a timeline chosen by the players. It has even been influenced greatly by player action. We were in the middle of another event entirely, so it wasn't a time we would likely have chosen, but it was an interesting surprise to see it pulled off and it is good to see a pending conclusion to that line of events. (I think, at least.)

Ok. Well. We'll just take 125,000 power from you and you can spend all the time waiting for random tainted angels to repop to try to recoup all that power.

The 'plot' was concluded when Forestals did hai'Gloh four times. What was the point of a ritual that protects the Ethereal Plane if in the long run it did not matter at all?

Coming from Mr. Subtle I really don't care how you felt upon finding out that OH WOOPZ WE WERE DISCOVERED, I don't remember the admin spawning NPCs and foresting all of Cosmic while forcing a mini-DL to dance around your Nexus Room for a few seconds from Hai'Gloh.

The vast majority of the group mustered by Magnagora and Glomdoring was lowbies. I also would contest the supposition that there was no-one around to defend. I saw a fairly sizeable clot at the Nexus. Shuyin, Sidd, Desitrus, Viynain, Sarrasri(?), Asmodea, etcetera. I think in terms of combat strength you were roughly equal to us, even if you weren't in numbers.
13 forests vs. 18 cities.
Now we break it down to how many people are actually fighters.
6 (Viynain, Kielo, Asmodea, me, Razik, Desitrus) vs. 9 (Veyrzhul, Dysolis, Malarious, Narsrim, Revan, Romero, Esano, Ilyarin, Jozen), more if you count people I've seen pk like Zynna and Inagin.
We can even break it down to demigod vs. demigod if you want! While demigods don't make you a fighter, it sure makes you a hell of a lot tankier.
4 vs. 6
So, I rofl at your assertion that combat strength was roughly equal to ours.
Ilyarin2009-07-30 07:39:11
Okay so 6 vs 9. I've seen worse odds for sure, particularly given a home territory advantage. But I'll admit it wasn't quite as even stevens as I thought.
