QUOTE (Xenthos @ Jan 6 2010, 11:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
They've never, ever stepped in on an enemying procedure, ever. Have you seen some of the enemy reasons? Heh.

But hey, if someone wants to donate a million gold, even knowing they're donating a million gold (which, since the issue itself is OOC and y'all know what you're doing on an OOC level)... um. Go ahead, I guess?

The point is that you're using the Diplomacy system to set a fine. Then after said fine is paid, you're immediately thereafter re-enemying them, after they've sunk a considerable amount of money into being unenemied. You're taking a system and perverting it into nothing more then a little trap.

A "trap" that absolutely nobody is going to fall into (unless they are intentionally doing so to to "push the limits" themselves). Thus, it is not even a trap at all. It is, as I have said, a little prod to ask about getting unenemied. You can either ask or go on your merry way, but you're sure as heck not going to pay it. happy.gif

Except people have. You forget that people are familiar with the Moondancers and their uberfines. You are not outside of precedent. If they want to get unenemied, they'll contact you on their own if their is no fine. If there is one, they must either assume that A. You hate them. or B. You just don't want them unenemied. Therefore, if they DO pay the fine, your re-enemying of them is frankly dishonest and abusive.
Xavius2010-01-07 04:40:34
1,000,000 gold fines are indeed without precedent.

Heh, I think you're grossly exaggerating the Moondancer fines to try to make a point. Further, you forget that I was a Commune leader for a significant amount of time. If someone wants to get unenemied and they know their fine is 100,000 gold, they nearly invariably come asking for it to get reduced / talk about it / whatever. There is no character in Lusternia that, without OOC motivations, is going to fork over a million gold without asking a question first. None. Doesn't exist. And if there are OOC motivations, I don't really feel bad about it on an OOC level, heh.

Further, you're also completely ignoring the fact that not only have I stated that this has made people approach me (and even go on to get unenemied), but one of those people who it prodded also posted such. Like I said, there is a lot of complacency in human nature. You just kind of do what you do, you may not even realize that being unenemied is an option ("Hey, they'd never unenemy me, why bother?"). Sometimes all it takes is a little prod, and things get moving.

Edit: And the first sentence is supported by Xavius' post above, heh. I'm pretty sure the MD fines were in the range of 100k or less.
Diamondais2010-01-07 04:54:02
Yeah, I don't think that Laysus in his greatest and most influential moment would've been able to pull off tthat high a fine and he's pulled off some nasty ones. laugh.gif

You tell Valarien Moonbane, Whisper of Midnight's Fall, "Ask Ragniliff to get you into Dead Horse, it's the revival."

Valarien tells you, "What an awesome name."

I got a giggle from his reaction. wub.gif welcome back!
Esano2010-01-07 04:55:08
You could, of course, also make a comment on their file. They see that. Something like "Must contact Xenthos for precise terms of unenemying" would serve the same effect, I'm sure.

The past page+ has been devoted to fines.

Let's go back to quotes.

The Moonhart Mother Tree.
Singing a hauntingly beautiful melody, Miakoda, Maiden of the Moonhart, stands here. Towering high above is the Moonhart Mother Tree, stretching her enormous branches heavenwards. There are 12 centaur hunters here. There are 3 small screech owls here. There are 4 fierce timberwolves here. Hovering over a raised dais are two silver arrows, their long shafts crossed with the points aimed skywards. There are 10 kephera nature warders here. A mature oak tree stands proudly here. A striped badger is here, licking its paws. A red fox stands here, cautiously listening to the surroundings. Reaching up as high as the eye can see looms the awesome presence of a living totem. Covered in bone armour, a striped badger is here, licking its paws. There are 10 frost hags here. In the shape of an open palm, a metallic sigil lies here. There are 37 iridescent spores here. An illustrated canvas hangs in the air here, supported by silvery ribbons. An official writ lies here, bearing an ink-stamped seal of kephera royalty.
You see exits leading north, south, and through a vined stairway.
