Yep.. I start that in... an hour
I'm.. Pretty nervous Dx Not about the new classes or anything, but because of everyone I'll see again Also.. I havent exactly.. "Grown" Over the summer
This also means I'll probably be on Lusty less. I chose algebra 2 and Honours english, so I'll be stuck in reading and studying for my most off school times
Anyways, please give me advice on how to get through my first year, its eating away at my half awake mind just thinking about it

I've found that being quiet and minding your own business seems to just draw more people to you, half of them really annoying or just lacking something in the mental department.
So, just be yourself. And don't purposefully tick off any terribad teachers you have, as so unbelievably tempting as it might be.
Edit: And if you're the academic type, get familiar with your counselor. Next year you might want to take more Honours and/or AP classes, just don't overdo it.

Just remember.
You'll be bored when you graduate.
Enjoy it while you can And don't stress too much!

These could be formative years. Could be. They aren't always. Depends on how much drama you get yourself into, honestly. And most high school drama is bad.
Kyoko2009-08-10 13:39:06
Oh, trust me. I'm never a drama person. One reason I'm nervous is because I think I share like, three classes with someone I like o_O
...So I've been in the bathroom brushing my hair for the last 15 minutes because I cant get it how I want it >:O

That made me LOL.
I hated high school, honestly. College was my growing period for me. I look back now and wonder who was secretly giving me crack.
But yes, if I could go back now I would of done more volunteer work so I could of gotten more scholarships for college and I would of studied harder because now I suck at math. Trust me, if you don't learn it now.. It's going to SUCK later.
And now that I'm about to graduate college I wonder why I still haven't volunteered much.. O_< You'd think I would of learned.

I think Joli really hit on the important part here, and I'm sure this might sound very 'adult'/parent/teacher like. But as someone in college.. 4 years isn't a whole lot, highschool goes by fast. IMO you should just do as much as you can to prepare yourself to rock your first year of college. Get as many college credits you can if they're offered, make sure youaren't just passing with good grades but that you're actually understanding things.
It's really easy to good grades through highschool, then University comes and they aren't so easy to whizz by.
IMO, I tried to make highschool a party. But really, it's better off to just take Highschool serious so you know College is locked down, and college is where the fun really starts anyhow, socially, academically, everyway possible really.
The boy? Honestly, getting denied is a part of dating, or seeking partners.
Just ... approach him, say you'd like to hang out sometime. If he's -anything- like every average heterosexual male at your age range, he'll just be excited a girl at all wants to talk to him. Heh. Just my opinion though.

Uh, it's Highschool. Who cares. It's like stressing over an ingrown toenail.
Maybe you'll learn how to spell, though.

And if he isn't excited then he's a and not worth your time.
I remember the guy I liked in high school.. I liked him for two years and then he decided he was homosexual. I was sooooo sad.
Oh yeah, take a few college courses. I took both basic english courses my junior and senior year and it REALLY helped me out when I actually started college. Since my first english course I haven't made one B on a paper yet. All As, FTW!

Nah, I think he was that way before I even found him. I was just in denial. I should of seen all the signs.. He was the best actor in our drama class and played the lead role in Grease. Yeah, I should of seen it coming.
Kante2009-08-10 21:56:12
I was homeschooled, so I can't offer a lot of advice here, but all I can say is: drama is stupid and pointless, and people are idiots.
And if you turn into one of those depressive "ZOMG EVERYONE HTES ME IM GONNA KILL MYSELF" teens, no one will like you. So don't.

I'll tell you like I told my niece when she started high school. Don't worry about boys just yet. You're starting off right now. Focus on getting in gear. After you've got into your school groove then you can work on the socials. Besides you may meet a lot of new people too. From someone who was notorious for slacking off I can say its not worth it in the long run. Also real big point here make sure you definately get on your counselor's good side. Make sure if you have any problems with your schedule you get them sorted out as quickly as you can. I let mine slip because they didn't want to make schedule changes and had to spend an extra six months in school because I was missing half a credit of English IV.
But enjoy it too. The years go really fast.

High School was awful and I hated every minute of it, with the exception of Chemistry, Physics and Quiz/Knowledge Bowl.

God, we're probably terrifying her.
