Hey folks, Cryger here
okay so city supremacy is really starting to (and when I say starting to I mean it has since it started) suck. As a citizen of the Glomdoring and a member of Ebonguard, I can hardly log on without somebody raiding Ethereal or Faethorn. I have lost a full level from dying trying to defend, or just walking into a room with City-dwellers lurking, waiting to kill someone. Can't we all just get along? heh well of course not but to some extent can we stop the rape and pillaging of each other? (and by each other I mean me) I can't believe someone hasnt already made a topic about this. Or maybe someone has but I just havent seen it. I'm not sure if i am ranting right now, if im just trying to get posts, or what but i just felt like something needed to be said. Narsrim is the queen of Faethorn now! Give me a break! Is it even possible to completely destroy a city or commune? It's like no matter what you do, none of the four places are going to go bye bye. I don't even know how to close this but i prayed to Viravain and here is what I said:
Kneeling humbly, you press your palms together before you and close your eyes momentarily as you pray devoutly to Viravain, Lady of the Thorns, "Thank you for your favour, i am very grateful. i come to you again to ask your help to defend against the Ethereal raiders. Be with us and make us brave. The Glomdoring is about dedication if i am not mistaken, and every month, more than once a month, we as a commune give up of Ethereal Glomdoring and Faethorn. As i remember, nothing matter but Glomdoring and we should give all we have for the Glomdoring and its interests. Thank you, your humble servant, Cryger"
By the way, thank you for the favour again. The Glomdoring is supposed to be dedicated to the point of stupid. Or at least thats how I see it. Our commune needs to band together and no matter how badly we are outnumbered we should never give up. This is my opinion. I would appreciate replies from people of ever city/commune, let me know what you think

Not the first time it's happened, wont be the last. It kind of gets shifted around each org and Glom ends up on the short end most.
Glom's always made it through, despite threats of closure and exclusion from newbies so I'm sure we'll manage again.
(yes, I agree, it's annoying and frustrating. I play Glom, in the same guild as you, I just can't find myself caring too much.)

That is my point exactly. As a member of Ebonguard, the "defenders of the forest" you should care. Nothing matters but Glomdoring. That is a major part of Glomdoring's ideals. We should all care
Ilyarin2009-08-16 14:15:09
Well, I do find it extremely tempting to not care, given that Celest was recently dragged backwards through the bushes by Glomdoring and Serenwilde for longer than the cities have been lording over the forests at the moment. (Although I graciously note Talan's sympathy with Celest during this period, and her attempts to lessen the impact of it on Celest's morale.) I think we are dealing, frankly, with a case of consequence at the moment. The communes enacted the hai'Gloh three, maybe four times, over the course of aggressions, and so far the cities have done it only once. When the playing fields are levelled a bit (or even when the communes make some effort at reparations and decide they want to stop it), I'm sure things will slow down again.

There's one thing I've learned over time: just because you don't care, doesn't mean your character doesn't.

Now, you misunderstand. I just don't care in general about the game. The mystical thing called Real Life is far more important to me.

One thing I learned in my time, is any side Narsrim is on. Every other side will bitch about being raided at 4am or having their fae kicked or some other fun annoying situation that they can do nothing about.
Unknown2009-08-16 14:21:45
Glomdoring has dealt with worst. We lost constructs two times, at the same time Crow was dead and the Drums were down and we had no villages, and not a day went by that a ravenwood was cut. But hey, we pulled through. Yes, we also had fewer people back then, but these people actually did things. Hopefully this downturn would purge Glomdoring and leave the true ones standing
Cryger2009-08-16 14:31:33
Yes, i used to have another characer about 90 in game years ago. That was when Deas, Bashara and Shayle were here along with countless others. Back then it seemed like everyone was totally dedicated to the forest, but now that dedication is the exception, or at least it seems that way to me

what is this "real life" you speak of?
And I know, but i mean in game what you care about. Kind of like what Tynghall/Kante said, its not nessicarily what you care about its what your character cares about
Unknown2009-08-16 15:31:16
Glom's still drunk for enjoying success and hasn't quite stopped with the unsteady swaggering yet.
And while it's good and all to say that "even if you don't care, your character should" - there's only so far you can take that. If you (the player) don't care, it will show through on your character. The player has to care to a certain extent for anything the character does to have meaning or effort behind it.

The sad thing is i really do care. I am Glomdoring and Ebonguard all the way. I have never been anywhere else so the dark forest is all i know. I care and my character cares and a big thing with the Glomdoring is to care about the Glomdoring

The secret to playing Lusternia is know when not to care. Don't let things get to you IRL ( I do, it tends to piss my wife off when I yell at the computer because it's lagging during a fight and I die. ) Glomdoring spent plenty of time at the bottom, they made a short trip to the top, and are on their way down now. It happens, trust me.

Maybe thats why I suck so much at life and Lusternia haha and I love the fact that i'm in your sig haha

oh boohoo. your friends should not provoke people if they don't want things started.

The amusing thing is that not too long ago it was Magnagora crying.

From a player perspective, it is annoying. It's annoying anytime you start being on the back end, where victory is rare and you get beat down a lot. But, as has been posted, it happens to everyone. In my time in Lusternia, I've seen Serenwilde, New Celest, and Magnagora all rise to the top and dominate the Basin completely for a while, then crash and sit on the very bottom, with no fighters and no villages, their fair share of times. Glomdoring is the exception, which was on the bottom for a very long time (and adapted to be successful even in those times) and only recently domintated the Basin.
Yes, it sucks when you are on the bottom. But you have to adapt, because if you play the game for more than a few months, the time will come when you are on the bottom. Sooner or later, the combatants get bored, all switch orgs, and the supremacy shifts. You just have to keep playing.

The first few months of my Lusternia playing was exciting, we were on top and kicking ass, and then within the next few months Magnagora began to gain power, and stomped on our heads, although many of the combatants didn't flock to Magnagora, most were either asleep or on alts(I guess). The Admins do these events so that every org has a chance of whipping ass, it will change soon.
And that's also what makes the game fun, guerrilla tactics on let's say Nil when Magnagora obviously has the supremacy of power makes for interesting RP and gains you a bit of notoriety.
