The point of this section of the forums is to document roleplay events for others to read and enjoy. This thread is rapidly devolving into a rant fest and the attacks have started. Play nice, please.

I should start an ass-stick removal business on the forums.

I'd make a killing.

But yes, as everyone else has said, it's all a cycle. One day, you and your pals are beating down the likes of Thoros and have almost every village. The next, Thoros and his buddies are kicking your ass so hard, your testicles come out of your mouth.

Admittedly, I'm a sore loser and don't play as much when that goes down.

Cryger should raid Nil or Earth or do the Sarye quest to hurt Mag. Or go into the Blasted lands and kill/enslave the viscanti children. Or release mutant kelpies. Or put up the TBC for Glom.
Unknown2009-08-17 04:19:56
I remember when Glom would put up the TBC every few hours to ensure we kept culture center. That was fun.

But the thing is.... you still never got Culture Centre, and if you did it wasn't for that long. sad.gif

Err we did for most of my term as culture minister. We had some winning works, theater activity, pretty enthused bard/scholar sweeps, contests, etc, which is why we put TBC up a lot, as one year it came down to the daily bard/scholar collections.

this will probably be closed soon, get on topic!

Yes it sucks when you're at the bottom, but that is the way life works. I hate to see people be smashed into the ground, whether it's griefing or metagaming, a little mercy RP, especially from Celest is nice every now and then.

People just need to remember that everyone has feelings, everyone that is except Vathael.

Sidd2009-08-17 05:06:21
Hey, Vathael has feelings too

as far as being on bottom, it isn't a big deal, when I first started Glom was bottom, then we rose to the top, and now we're sitting 2 or 3 right now (It's hard to tell because Celest/Mag pretty much do everything together). I actually enjoy the challenge, though lately we haven't been successful entirely, but we make little improvements here and there. It's all just a game, and it'll rotate around again I'm sure, Glom isn't out of it yet, we just hit a slump.
Unknown2009-08-17 12:26:02
I wanted to do the Tome of Celest quest but Mags griefed me. I'mma cry now cry.gif

Anyway, back then during the dark ages of Glomdoring (ironic, I know), it was very easy to become known because, well, there weren't many people around to compete with. There was more work to be done then, too, like doing quests to help Glom, roleplay to raise morale, and the likes.

I mean, I love dominating Glomdoring and all, but I also miss the good old days smile.gif

oh boohoo. your friends should not provoke people if they don't want things started.

This is the crux of it. In each organization, there's one set of people who do want to "get things started" and thus do provoke people. They make decisions and take actions. But they virtually never stick around for the consequences. The people who are complaining are usually those who had no say in the original provocation, and weren't involved with it, but end up taking virtually all the consequences. Yet their complaints are dismissed as if each nation moved in perfect unity.

Merely a bump in the road, in my opinion.

Glom hasn't been used to ruling the roost long, perhaps it's time it became forged by fire. smile.gif None the less I still feel Glomdoring is in some ways a stronger commune then it has been often in the past. Just need to get this RP thing goin more eh smile.gif

Unfortunately, someone HAS to provoke others to make things move along. If nothing was to happen, no provoking, no raiding, etc. then well...nothing happens! The game would stagnate. Luckily we have people like Narsrim and Munsia to provoke the world into hating them so dearly and keeping the world from stagnating.

Lusternia has always had an underdog. I've yet to remember a time when all three/four communes/cities worked together in harmony. Of course, if that did happen (so unlikely) I'm pretty sure the gods would step in and kick one of the others in the balls to make things moving again. Every commune/city has had their underdog moments. Granted I remember Glom being there the most, but alas that might be me being bias. What you have to remember is to take the beatings with good grace (aka no QQing cuz you feed people like Ixion, which we all know that feeding trolls is bad!) and to fight back. I know there are times when it seems hopeless (Hey remember those times back when Glom was just beginning and it got raided almost all the time? yea that was fun.) but you have to remember that eventually the sun will rise and you'll either be happily ignored, or top dog. Glom has been on top for a while, from what I can tell, and its time to take the fall me ol' gal.

And you lovely hypocrits, do shush yourself. There was a time when you too did QQ about being beaten and how such and such got protected or was dominating. Life, me dearies, tis life.

Well, I do find it extremely tempting to not care, given that Celest was recently dragged backwards through the bushes by Glomdoring and Serenwilde for longer than the cities have been lording over the forests at the moment. (Although I graciously note Talan's sympathy with Celest during this period, and her attempts to lessen the impact of it on Celest's morale.) I think we are dealing, frankly, with a case of consequence at the moment. The communes enacted the hai'Gloh three, maybe four times, over the course of aggressions, and so far the cities have done it only once. When the playing fields are levelled a bit (or even when the communes make some effort at reparations and decide they want to stop it), I'm sure things will slow down again.

Or maybe when you decide to raid when Glomdoring actually has a population of something more than four people.

Magnagora organizes their raids on IM. Why else would so many of them be around at 3am? biggrin.gif

I suppose many have done this in the past, but we just saw who we had and tried it half expecting to fail before we saw how many meatshields we could muster...

Doh! now i guess i have to get IM if i don't want to miss all the cool raids.
But seriously I've never heard people talking about IM organizing or some kind of secret phone tree. I seem to remember back in the day about there being a giant flashlight with Thoros' name on it that could be used to summon him to the realms but apparently that has long since broken.
Unknown2009-08-17 19:18:41
Even if people do organize their raiders via OOC means, I don't see how there's anything wrong with it. Curse them for being friends?
Eventru2009-08-17 19:21:41
I've moved this thread to Common Grounds, where it seems more appropriately placed.
