If you're frozen, any action that takes balance consumes an extra second of balance. Which, if he ectoplasmed you on top of it, means you're in tough shape. Without a diagnose it is difficult to tell.

System did try to sip earlier in the log and the system tracked he had no fire, so it didn't waste the balance trying to re-sip fire.
