I think the point is that the people who should be giving Lawliet a hard time for marrying a Mag should be Celestians and Magnagorans, not Fain and Eventru, ideally speaking.
Harkux2009-08-20 20:42:30
So the Divine aren't allowed to have an opinion on the races they hate for RP reasons?

While I personally have only once had a situation where Eventru was like "WTF, time to die", and that was because I was baiting him, I have seen other people get into situations like that. I as a person always found the amount of control Eventru, and Fain, directly or indirectly exert over Celest and Magnagora to be distasteful. The fact that Raezon's order is banned from the Get-go in glom suggests to me that godly influence is a bit over the top. Why is it like that? Viravain declared it, and she's the mother of Glom. Sure, Raezon convinced her to do it, which makes him like the crazy uncle, but if I suggest that, I'll be called a heretic and suffer any number of concequences due to going against Viravain's will- She's a god, but her word was law enough that going against it is political suicide.
And to the people saying that an Order s as much apart of a city as a guild, have an order head kicked from an Org, and guess what? She stays an Order head! Kick a GM? Guess what! They don't get to be GM any more. Unlike the guilds and their accompanying realms, the God Orders have no direct attatchment to the cities, and are rather in a situation of mutual benefit to the organization. Don't like it? You can RP it out, but then you leave a bad taste in every one elses mouth that wants to keep their City/Commune THEIR city commune, and not Celest/Glom/Seren/Mag, Boro of Eventrupalooza/Fainville/I dunno, Lisaeraland?/Viravain's Playhouse.

Heh, probably not the best example given the current political affiliation.

When Tyngh was in Mag, he was in the Middle Circle of Fain's Order. When he left to go back to Glomdoring, he divulged certain information concerning "spies" in Glomdoring. When Fain's Order found out that it was Tyngh who got the spy booted, Fain cursed Tyngh to not be able to speak and be cursed with visions of ghosts.
This is hardly overstepping boundaries, or anything else. Tyngh betrayed Fain and his Order, and from an IC point of view, Tyngh deserved what he got. Sure, OOCly, it may have sucked, but I'm glad it happened, because it offered a decent bit of roleplay experience.
When Tyngh went to reconcile things with Fain, Fain simply asked Tyngh to perform a favour for Romero, whatever it may be, when asked of him. The curses were lifted, and the transgressions were pushed to the side and Tyngh was given a small lecture by Fain.
Sure, if you cross a god/dess, they'll eff you up, but I wouldn't consider most of what happens nowadays as "overboard" in any manner or fashion.

I would call all of what happened to Tyng good RP punishments. But some things, like mechanically forcing a divorce, or force-quitting a nation's leaders, those are things to be concerned about.
I would think most of what is talked about here can be worked on ICly. As Estarra said, if we really do believe that a God has overstepped their bounds in a way that can't be resolved IC, we can email.

Just so I understand, how were they mechanically forced to divorce?

Not for Nocht The most rp I get is when I get chatised for breaking his tenets/shrouds by shouting (darn you Rancoura ).
It was waaay back and vathael and Malicia noted it, but I think Terentia is an exception to what people are saying, she would force herself on people and punish with little provocation. Magnagoran gods are awesome though and rp more than most from my memory.

Fain says he only has as much power as he is given, which is true in the overall picture, yet here we have proof that he truly holds power supreme (unintentionally). It didn't even take an official post or loud proclamations from his lips to make the favouring happen - just the mention of his name alone made people jump through hoops to make it so. And some wonder why people bicker within his order to reach the top, ha!
Seriously, why would he care if she's cr6 or not?

I'd say he cares because he has power only if his loyal followers have power. The more of them who have high ranks the more power he has.
Unknown2009-08-21 13:57:54
But if they're hated due to forcing their way into the high ranks, then don't they have less power?
What a delicious cookie.

Not in Magnagora. Even if you hate a CR6 you should be asking how high when they tell you to jump.

Except that certain HajaminReincarnates constantly abuse their station and offer up "punishments" while baiting the populace via shout or global emote. They also divulge information that's best left to players to find out and have trouble keeping their administrative decisions from being tainted with Bias. Terentia was very strongly-opinionated, but didn't mandate garbage, coddle "fun people" (Fun people is a forum-friendly substitution), cause as much drama as possible, and basically behave like an attention-starved child.
What some admins forget when they say they "only have the power people give them," is that they, in fact, are still administrators. I've seen tons of roles compromised and people do things they don't want to, not because a deity said it, but because an ADMINISTRATOR "from" their city said it and so it must be done. Also, some divine don't take no for an answer. When put to sharecropping squid for the beacons quest, at one point, Celest gave the finger to it. What happened? Much bitching, mob possession, constant badgering and lo', someone finally got their way.
The power is there, it's just whether or not you choose to grossly abuse your station I suppose.
