How about just scaling the accuracy of ranged attacks to the size of the ship?
A good idea... perhaps ships that are less than 10-12 rooms shouldn't get hit?
Razenth2009-08-27 01:23:51
Make karibs less wtfpwnage. 560 from a ranged attack?

Dragons ranged attack is 1k. HooHaa. (looks like ranged is 50% damage)
Estarra2009-08-27 01:31:43
The beast ranged damage decreases, the further away you are from the beast.
It still seems like aspace bashing is a little easy. What do you guys think?

Hmm you call it aspace too
It it harder now for sure, especially if you plan to spam siphons and kite them. At least at this point siphons and maneuvers are a little more methodical.
I don't know how you can make it harder without making tendrils rather impossible at this point. Before they were incredibly tough, now I'm thinking we'd not even be able to get the ID number to target it before it hits us once, and range hits us 1-2 times, killing in fine style.
Edit: It's too easy until you get hit a little. There's no medium, that is. It has to be near flawless or it's death.
Razenth2009-08-27 01:57:48
I'm worried about trading too. People don't clean up after themselves when they pull beasties hitting up ships. Laranda told me he purged like, 20 tons worth of Prime chaff at one ship. If all of them are tracking you and range attacking you at 6 or 7 spaces...

1. Is the targetting bug fixed?
2. These changes really just seem to put more stress on the pilot. They have a harder time automating, while the other positions can merrily be afk like they were before.

RE: #1, it's looking that way. We were able to target karibideans and clouds by name instead of ID number.
Unknown2009-08-27 02:11:01
Oh, cool they fixed targetting.
Experience is still the same, yes?

I don't see how it's more stress on the pilot, to me it looked like beasts were moving the same way they did before while they were shooting.
Chade2009-08-27 02:14:37
If they've fixed targetting then aetherspace should be a hell of a lot easier to automate now and the empath will have something to do. Shouldn't be too hard to hunt around vortexes either, will just need to stick to only having one or two Gargantuans/Elementals summoned at a time rather than 7-20.

I haven't tried it out yet, just saying that the changes seem to be focused entirely on maneuvering.

If you can automate something to the point you don't have to anything but sit there and watch(and actually do it), where is the challenge?
Unknown2009-08-27 02:38:03
You're missing my point. The complaints were that everything was automated before. I'm asking how that is addressed now, since only 1/6 of the crew is affected in ship operation by the changes.
Damadreas2009-08-27 02:53:55
Automation = Simple solution.
Such complete automation as people have been doing is not allowed. Be rough gruff and start bringing out the banhammar.
None the less, aspace does seem to be a decent way to bring people together.. it's getting better but I still think some tweaking is in need.

Unless they're going to somehow make aetherbashing excessively complicated, there's always going to people automating it. And I thought the complaints were that aetherbashing was an incredibly easy experience source, with almost no risk with a decent pilot and no limitations on it.

I thought about using the Iytha method to deal with AFKers and judging people, but I settled for the stop moving and wait for them to come back method. Or the get Elodres to dominate them to wear funny clothes and then sketch them method.

Her method is a bit excessive as she is not an Admin, but you can just move them off of the module so they don't gain from it while afking.
Raezon2009-08-27 03:05:30
If people are siphoning xp in any fashion while not present or afk, the proper response would be the ISSUE command.
