About the "switch tertiaries" idea...
... what happens if your Tertiary is heavily reliant upon having the skills, and things decay / disappear when you "forget" it? Such as... crow and hart bonds to their totems. Keep in mind when we Crows lose the totem bond, we lose the nest, the egg, and all the carrion in it.

I would prefer buying a new tertiary in your current guild. Once a month you can switch terts, but you still need to spend lessons to learn them. So, I spend X essence and learn Astrology, then switch to it, buy 300 credits, learn to trans, then after that once per month I can swap between Astrology and Hexes.
Also allowing that you can swap back and forth whether trans or not in either tert, but it costs a bunch of essence to gain the extra tert to begin with.

We could do tertiaries for a large essence cost too. Do all classes have choices? What do people think of this idea instead of full remorts?

Sounds a like bummer to me, better not switch so often.

I'd be down with this.

Again, there are logistics to work out! I'm asking what people think of the general idea?
(Besides, crow and hart are secondary skills, not tertiary.)

My tertiary is... Athletics, right? What am I going to swap that with then?
I'd be down with swapping my trade skill back and forth, to and fro, all willy nilly. Herbs, Poisons, Forging...

Wait I could have sworn Athletics was our secondary, given it was the second skill in our list.
If totems really is our secondary, then wtf

For Warriors they're tertiary.

I'd really rather have this. If my guesswork is right, mages/druids/guardians/wiccans each have three tertiaries to choose from. Warriors are confusing since I don't know if they'd be able to switch between the Knighthood specs or the Tracking/Totems/Rituals equivalent. The only ones who don't have much to choose from are monks and bards who only have two tertiaries to choose from.
100mil per capability to learn and switch between each spec (with needing the lessons to trans each spec) would be fun, I say. -approves-

I like the idea. I would even go so far as to extend it to tradeskills too (though even more logistics there, notably the bits concerning being a trademaster).
Estarra2009-09-15 22:29:24
Okay, I'm wrong! Crow and Hart are tertiary for Ebonguard and Serenguard!
Celina2009-09-15 22:29:31
Eh, I can't say I'd ever switch in all honesty. Not sure how I feel about the idea. Would rather opt for RP flavour.

Crow / Hart / Night / Moon are warrior Tertiaries, given that we don't have an alternative to Athletics, no?
Also, if it worked for Tradeskills... wooo...!
Yes please!

If there are issues with tertiary skills, what about just tradeskills? I don't think there would be any issues about being a cartel trademaster as you can already own cartels of trades you don't have.
Unknown2009-09-15 22:32:28
That would probably be best so its impact in combat would be minimal.
I'm still down with terts though.

That would be awesome, just FYI. I'd love to be able to have different tradeskills.
If it was just tradeskills, would it need to be something that you had to switch, though? The tradeskills don't really provide large combat bonuses, and being able to buy a new slot with essence would be amazingly nice. Especially if more of them cost exponentially more essence (or you could only buy one).

I think 100 mil is a bit pricey. 30 mill per tert would be good, but no need to make it so enormous that all you are doing is creating more bashing burn out. You want people to have fun playing the game. So 30 million per tert, 60 million in most cases if you want to get both is a good number.
If you wanted to go with Trade skills you could make it 50 million per trade skill.
Xiel2009-09-15 22:34:15
I wouldn't mind at all if it were brought to tradeskills only. I'm assuming though that one would only be able to take and trans a trade they have the appropriate base for though (ie. bards can only take up and switch to Tinkering if they have High Magic. So they can't forget Tinkering, take up Low Magic and switch to Tinkering again on the skill switch).

If we're going with remorting style things, this is the best option, I think. Nothing would be better than being able to forge all your own equipment, and then being able to switch over to another trade skill to do other things with.
Also, we can has demishop for RP things, too?

My question is: Would it really be needed to have to swap between trade skills? Given that they don't really have large combat application, I don't think there's a huge issue if I was to, say, have forging and herbalism at the same time.
