You mean, like after an 18-hour raid when people are just getting told to not even transverse to Ethereal?
Yea something like that.
Lendren2009-09-04 22:43:56
Pointing out people not logging in is always tricky because there's always people stopping logging in for one reason or another, and there's lots of causes ranging from "it's summer" to a million individual reasons, and because even the reasons people give aren't always the real reasons. The fact is, no one person, not me and not you and not Estarra, is really in a position to say with accuracy and precision how many people are not logging in as much, or at all, because of the sea-change of hG/XI.
That said, just about everyone who's paying attention knows that it's a lot more people than the usual baseline "they did something I don't like" level, and it's only likely to accelerate for a bit longer.

It's not tricky at all, actually.
When numbers consistently drop down to single digits for an org during these "raid" periods, the only tricky part would be trying to argue against a direct correlation between the two.
Not to mention the number of experienced players I can name that have moved to a MUD I'm currently playing, or the number of players that I've seen first hand log off with the reason "this is a waste of time," or "I have better things to do" or what have you.
But again, I don't personally care one way or the other about raids. The kind I'm seeing constantly are at the very least amusing to me, and I can and do simply afk on another MUD, as they usually consist of self proclaimed badasses and top tier fighters, so it makes you wonder what they are so afraid of. My only issue is the level of consideration for other players has been on a steady decline, and the line of "self restraint" is being pushed further and further back. We're getting ever closer to just a pure pk, anything goes MUD. Things that encourage balance and restraint are becoming less and less relevant. Avenger, envoys, plane defenses, etc.
Xenthos2009-09-05 00:04:57
Not only becoming less relevant, but are being actively pushed to the side. Envoys has become all-out organization war based upon organizational lines, as per the last set of acceptions/rejections... plus last month's will continue the trend, and this month's is already looking to come on strong. Woo.
Plane defenses were smashed with a hammer, the envoy system in general is no longer about game balance (which really frustrates me), and the Avenger is so limited that it doesn't really have an impact in places where it's really needed.

The envoy system has been questionable for about as long as most of the current crop have been envoys. The admin should be a little more heavy-handed with envoy removal. It's often better to have no envoy at all than a bad one.

QFT, I think is applicable here.

Ok, Glomdoring. Do I have to make an alt and come help you fight off the cities? Really. What the hell.

Your alt would QQ, I'm afraid. I remember how upset you were with just a fraction of this headed your way. :/

Lol.
Shaddus sucks at fighting because I suck at being a monk. Many of my alts have ended up being protectors or gaining city/commune ranks because of defending/raiding/helping with domoths.

Most guilds give protector to anyone who can cure paralysis, merely because it means advancement to security for nexus powers... and most orgs CF for raids/defending/domothing as long as you are there at all.
Just sayin'

Pity rants got deleted, when Nil was being flogged religiously and your big players never logged in you were one of the most vocal about how bad it was for the playerbase.
