My raid is better than your raid

So a sad experience happened to me yesterday.

I was talking to Shiri on MSN, he asked me if I knew any jewelers since he needed some rings repaired, and I was like "Hey, I can do this." so I log in to get his rings repaired despite pretty much being entirely inactive.

As soon as I log in, about three daughters are crying out on Ethereal. I wait for a minute and nobody seems to be noticing anything on either SEG or CT. And then I decide to inform people on CT that someone is attacking Daughters, and nobody else is around to tell them because the only Moondancers around are one novice and one offplaner.

And then, a few seconds later, I'm genuinely regretting my decision to follow my roleplay, because I'm suddenly obligated (I ignored it anyways) to go up to Etherwilde and pointlessly chase after Narsrim and his seemingly-never-fading Divinefire. I just volunteered myself for something distinctly and unbearably boring, oh dear.

So I meet up with Shiri, repair his rings, and we QQ to go play actual fun games.

And I haven't felt guilty since.

I'll give you the "Killing her lets mages meld Ethereal" point, Xenthos but killing Maeve's body is just as meaningful to Maeve as killing Loch's body is to Loch.

Killing Loch's body doesn't have any impact on Earth whatsoever. Killing Maeve has a very large impact, to Maeve and to the Fae and to Ethereal.

Killing Maeve only makes Ethereal meldable, nothing more, nothing less. While Ethereal melding is an important tactical consideration, it isn't important in any other way. It's not going to make herbs die, or cause the trees to get sick, or make the Moon fall from the sky, nothing like that.

Also, Loch is a Tide Lord.

Lords are lords. I don't really care which is which, to be honest. wink.gif

"Only"? Seriously? Making Ethereal meldable is both a huge tactical consideration and a very large thing in terms of RP. What are you going on about? :/

The fact you can turn my demonic wasteland into a twisted or spritely forest without first mounting an attack on some 3rd party and let everyone know your intent hurts my feelings sad.gif

WHAT ADMIN WILL COMFORT ME!!!

And yet I can't turn your wasted earth into pretty forest. Where is my Admin comfort? sad.gif

Why would you want to?

Same reason as demesning all of Faethorn? To be able to "secure" the essence mobs and kill any newbies who come on in!

It would certainly make getting essence just a bit easier after an Avatar raid, eh?

Uh, you aren't obligated to do ANYTHING. If someone complains, tell them you have a task elsewhere, do whatever you came to do, and QQ.

Seriously. Shaddus woke up earlier, and Fain instantly ganked his ass to some ritual. I did what I had to do, and left.

Well, I would not be opposed to seperateing Ethereal into two sections per commune, one meldable like Cosmic and one not meldable like Elemental, but Estarra is against it.

Slightly different, as you not only voluntarily took it upon yourself to join an optional order, but positioned yourself as well as voicing interest in obtaining a purely RP position that will require such rituals.

Defending an org as a known combatant is expected, if not an obligation. Just because the option to QQ is there doesn't mean everyone does it. She clearly feels obligated to do something, as such, an obligation exists.

Just that swording her in the face isn't going to cause major harm

Except for the whole melding the Etherwilde/Etherglom. No, no major harm at all.

Furien's story

Did this myself just now. Finished an aetherhunt and docked at Faethorn - I had portal exited, a single room into Faethorn, and was jumped by Narsrim, Vathael and (I think?) Romero. All I wanted was to get back to Glom because the hunt was over, but I was "in the area" so open to attack. Note, my computer is dying, so I don't load a system for 90% of my playing time. So, systemless me versus 2-3 demis, jumping me when I wasn't even expecting an attack? Please, tell us more about how this raiding crap is "a challenge" for you guys.

I qqd.
Vathael2009-08-31 03:40:05
I'm sorry you just happened to be of the organization of the people that were coming in and out and attacking us so we took you as a "possible threat" and initiated the attack ourselves.

I lold.
Unknown2009-08-31 03:55:19
Err, weren't you guys the enemies on foreign soil?

Keep on loling, though. Eventually people are going to just get tired of "defending" and you'll have to find a new way to entertain yourself.
Vathael2009-08-31 04:00:04
I really don't feel any remorse when people act like stuck up pricks, sorry. I let a few people slide during the raid, though, I can't say everyone else did. Weren't you just raiding the other day? I believe you were. On top of all that, it's not like there were no non-coms around like everyone always claims and it only lasted all of like 15 minutes.
Moiraine2009-08-31 04:03:37
Yeah, if you involve yourself in any way at any point, expect to get ganked on occasion if you find yourself near hostiles. Expect it anyway. It's common sense.
Unknown2009-08-31 04:09:13
Uhh, no. I haven't been raiding. Let me try to explain this again: I just got back from like...5 months away. You guys might not see this, because change is a gradual thing, but after a time of being dormant, it's very drastic and sharp. I can't get fully equipped, there are no longer cultural activities, everything is just constant aetherhunts or raid defence or gathering fae/power because of said raids. It's really a bit frustrating, because I want to play again, but the game seems to have lost a lot of its facets.

True true. Narsrim ganked me while I was hunting because "my people" raided.
