Aside from Morgy coming back the best part was Iytha's lulz moment with the lava pit. Hilarity.
If intentionally breaking game rules is hilarity, sure!

Rules? Decency? Common sense? Pffft, what game are YOU playing?

Aside from being screwed up (and lulzworthy), how is that against the rules? Avenger Avoidance?
Unknown2009-09-05 01:26:50
Yeah. Even though you have to declare, the game does not connect the gusting with the falling into lava for Avenger purposes, which suprised me.

It's always been that way. Always. That is why you can't web whore someone while they fight mobs. That is why you can't force people under the elevator. Avenger only tracks player kills.
Unknown2009-09-05 01:32:31
That doesn't sound like rule-breaking, that sounds like a smart move...

How does that surprise you? It's just like any NPC getting the kill if you've declared someone-- if anything other than a PC kills you, Avenger does not fire. It's always been that way. Lava is obviously no different...
PS: Avenger avoidance is always rule breaking, Kialkarkea.

Indeed.
Otherwise I could just stand there with fearaura.

I'm not talking about the 'voidance part of it though, I'm sitting here thinking that someone came up with a smart way of tackling a problem. Why penalize them for a fault in the system?
Desitrus2009-09-05 02:16:56
The correct answer is the german "NarsrimInstaIssue."

... because it is breaking the rules? Seriously. Why would you even think it might be okay?
Also, it's not okay. Heh. Otherwise, I could summon you there and fearaura / gust you down all day long. I don't, because it is against the rules. Further, it stops many other people from doing this (it's hardly like this is a smart or original idea). The reason it's not abused is because it is illegal.

QUOTE
Thoughtfully wrinkling her nose, Pupil Mihewi says, "But... how do you tell the wise deranged ones from the completely crazed deranged ones?"
Iorden d'Murani, Memory of Decadence says, "Easy, they are mostly the same."
You say, "I'm one of the wise deranged ones. So is Jigan."
You say, "He slew an invading army, all by himself."
Pupil Mihewi says to you, "Did he really? Or did he just say he did?"
You say to Mihewi, "He did. The Duck Legion was marching for Magnagora through the Southern Gate, but Jigan, Archmage at the time, lured them into a trap by applying liberal amounts of butter to Atropos Way. They slid all the way into the Old Quarter, were the city Constabulary has been mustered and a large oven set up."
You say, "Mind, the constables saw nothing. Invisible purple fowl of great foulness."
Pupil Mihewi says, "And this Duck Legion... was it comprised of actual ducks? Or just people who looked like ducks?"
You say, "Large purple ducks, about the size of a middling dog."
Iorden d'Murani, Memory of Decadence says, "In other words, neither..."
Pupil Mihewi says, "Nobody could see these... ducks except for the Archmage?"
You say, "The Geomancers spotted them as well."
You say, "Expert illusionists, we are."
Pupil Mihewi says, "The sane ones, right?"
Pupil Mihewi asks, "And did he manage to cook them all?"
You say to Iorden, "You know, it's about time for us reinact the battle of Atropos Way. You want to play the part of Jigan? You'll have to dress in a pair of boxers, butter yourself and slide from the North Gate to the Bank."
Pupil Mihewi says, "Hm... what would invisible duck taste like, I wonder..."
You say, "Grape."
Pupil Mihewi says, "Of course!"
Pupil Mihewi says, "All purple animals taste like grape. Commonly known fact..."

The rule is that pending issues aren't supposed to be discussed, afaik.
It's not pending, and Kialkarkea is asking why it's illegal. Hence, the answers.
(It is off-topic though and could probably use its own thread)

*shrug* How often do you fight above a lava pit? As long as the system was fixed to recognise avenger status due to environmental deaths occuring shortly after aggression, I don't see why it would be illegal. Sure, your character shouldn't exactly just run into it due to fear-aura, but I can see getting gusted. Unless you're contending that if you push someone off a building, they shouldn't fall off, but if you shout BOO at them really loud, they should run flailing towards the nearest window.

If it wasn't illegal, there are numerous ways to get people to "fight" above the lava pit. For example, Empress. However, they have never made environmental deaths cause Avechna issues (because then if someone attacked me I could just go die to an NPC and get a whole bunch of statuses). Either way, there are avenger issues. They just draw the line here and say "Avoiding Avenger is illegal."
That's a pretty clear line.
