I feel like I keep repeating myself! They're not meant to be able to replace player defenders. Against a group of raiders, it would be kind of silly to think a guardian could hold them off. Even a group of guardians probably wouldn't fare that well unless they greatly outnumbered the raiders.
Again, we're open to tweaking these changes. Keep giving us constructive feedback!

Please don't require camping on Faethorn/Nil/Celestia to end the HG/XI in a period of time shorter than 3 RL days, now that there is insanity accrual as well?

I think what she is getting at is that the guardians can be ignored because they can be killed very quickly and they don't make a dent in a player’s health. I guess the web feature would be useful, but that has a power cost to it.

Well, it was not made clear that normal people could pilot guardians. As written, it seemed like virtual players for the security ministers to control. If any player can be slipped into a guardian, perhaps that will help. As written, it looks like it allows the small subset of security players to participate without combat training.
If it is such, perhaps it will help us out.
As for suggestions:
- Open a Neutral Org (I know its an incredible manpower deal, I understand the difficulty)
- Maybe allow a quest in the prime world that powers the guardians, like say collecting fish from the Sea of Despair, to enable the Mag-Guardian's most powerful attack for one or two bursts. Might make people feel more useful even if they aren't piloting.
Also there were some typoes in your announce: When your side is up.. it looks like you will be more insane if you raid. So if Hai glom is protecting Faethorn, extra raiding will be penalized with insanity? Is that how it works?

The average noncombatant is not going to be a protector, or probably not even close to being able to get protector status. If these guardians are going to be mainly for noncom, they shouldn't be for protectors or higher. Also the cost should be lowered if you expect people to be able to use them for with 400, noncoms are not going to use them esp. if they have to pay that power back.
Eventru2009-09-06 22:47:01
Protectors have no privileges besides guardians. I'm having a very difficult time grasping why Protectors cannot require some basic test on what's appropriate usage of a guardian to achieve the rank? That's certainly what I would expect from Celest's guilds, at least.

You know what would be great? A way to heal insanity faster? We do not have any healers so insanity puts everyone out of commission. Could their be something to alleviate that? Like if you are a mage, you become more sane in the elemental plane? Or maybe, if you are in a Divine Order, hanging out there could get rid of it faster? Would be a great excuse for people to join Orders!
What about for the gatemaster ability, it would be a side benefit to transverse nexus to allied planes!? Pwease? <3

There will never, ever be a neutral org in Lusternia. Sorry! The history is too rich to allow for an org that is free from conflict. All present and future orgs will not be free from conflict. (Read between the lines in the history of Ackleberry if you are under the disillusion that it is "neutral" and free of conflict!)
I don't understand your quest idea.
If the hai'Glom is protecting Faethorn, you will get increased insanity penalties on the elemental and cosmic planes.

What about the complaints from those who suffer when the communes raid each other in Faethorn? You know we've gotten such complaints about that before! (Just asking.)
While a completely valid question and possibly even holding merit, There has been a very very long time since Communes raided faethorn against each other in any long standing capacity. There is usually the brief fight a few deaths and it is over and done with. However both Communes have mechanical reasons that compels them to be in Faethorn constantly.
Heck even just RP with Maeve (HAHAHAHA) or any of the other Denizens will be a tedious chore now.
Basically, Faethorn just became the Commune's astral plane with less experience gained.

So we could go with you only get insanity on Faethorn if an enemy to both communes. The Faethorn enemy thing is too problematic to try to work in.

When you (or at least that is how I see it...) see someone with the protector status, you expect them to know how to fight well. (without these guardians).
In the BT, to get Protector you must not lose (preferable to win, but draw is acceptable if you are able to have in the end beat the person.) a spar with the GC or security.

This would be a much better solution (only get insanity if enemied to both) and I agree, the Communes shouldn't control who is enemied to Faethorn.

I'd suggest the BT evolve then. Protectors can run guardians and guardians defend the planes. It would be remiss not to take this new feature into account. (Security is another story, of course!)

Yeah!
I'm just bad at wording things
Edit::
I got killed faster in a Guardian than I do out of one, as a furrikin with 3.7k health, if that says anything for their tankiness.

It would be nice to have more of an essence fallback for the communes if their avatars are down.
Looked to me that that's why this:
QUOTE
- If the Xion Initiative is enacted,
- Water Elementals will invade the Ethereal Planes-they carry essence
and will drain power from Celest Nexus if killed.
- Earth Elementals will invade the Ethereal Planes-they carry essence
and will drain power from Magnagora Nexus if killed.

- Earth Elementals will invade the Ethereal Planes-they carry essence

It doesn't help unless XI is done, but at least in that case, there's some way to get essence. Though there's still the asymmetry, and we're still screwed when just the Avatars are down. Maybe when Albion and (whichever Night Avatar gives out the scarabs) are dead, the thing they leave behind should periodically spawn peacocks/etc.

That would work, I would think.
It would make me useful, enemying any City-dweller on Faethorn (giving the noncom security members and GMs something to do).
Gregori2009-09-06 22:59:23
I actually like that Protectors actually have a reason for being now, aside from being a quick assigned to Protector so you can be assigned to the actual useful Security to use nexus powers.
Hartstone for one has never cared beyond basic curing/combat (and I mean basic) about Protectors or Security. They are just badges to know who can summon guards or live forest.

I still would like
1) The ability to see how long until the thing breaks, or
2) The quests revamped so that you actually need to do the raiding in order to get the extra 25k bonus power, and if the counterquest is done it just ends things right then and there. (You are raiding to get the 25k bonus power at the end, if you don't do enough, you don't get the bonus, just the initial 10k. If the counterquest is done, no bonus, no matter how much you raided).

There was just a thread about how terrible raiding is and it needs to be nerfed. You know just as well as I do that you don't want more raiding. Hell you won't even protect the place that you vouched WE ARE TO PROTECT (Faethorn) as I write this.

The raiding has to happen really. I'm just asking that it be on the part that actually gives a tangible bonus of 25,000 power instead of the side that is trying to return things to normal. Also, we were just protecting it, a number of city-dwellers died, before pursuing a tactical withdrawal!
