As far as credits go, they're limiting here than in any other IRE game. They make a difference and give an edge, but it's not a huge one compared to the rest of IRE.

Actually, I swear I remember Desitrus saying the opposite time and time again.

More credits to learn.

Artifacts tend to give less of a combat advantage, though, which I believe is what's being discussed here. No +stat artifacts, for example.

This.

I don't think Nienla meant credits. Skills are probably more required, but artifacts have less of an impact. You can get by without artifacts.

I think both statements are class reliant.

Some classes need more trans skills than others (SD, druid, etc). Some guilds are more heavily effected by arties (warriors obviously)
Xavius2009-09-27 06:02:20
Not really. On either end of the spectrum, a full set of trans skills (class and general) will take you farther than it will in Achaea or Imperian, but the benefit of a 7000cr set of warrior runes isn't the same as the difference between plain ol' forged unartied weapons and level 3 arti weapons and +3 to every relevant stat in a game where stats are more heavily weighted. You can buy demigod doubled up elsewhere.

What... I have never ever had a fully trans character in any IRE game, Lusternia included. My current Aetolia character is:

CODE
General Skills        Rank
-----------------------------------------------------------
Vision                85%   Adept
Avoidance             0%    Inept
Tattoos               0%    Inept
Survival              100%  Transcendent
Weaponry              100%  Transcendent
Reanimation           0%    Inept
-----------------------------------------------------------
Guild Skills          Rank
-----------------------------------------------------------
Necromancy            100%  Transcendent
Numerology            100%  Transcendent
Domination            15%   Mythical
-----------------------------------------------------------

And I kill "top-tier" end game combatants- without arties and all that jazz and I am only level 79 and the least tanky statpack there is.

Isn't that why he said that in Lusternia a full set of trans skills will take you farther than it does in other games? That is, you get more from a full set of skills here. Or so it seems, at least (influence, beastmastery, etc).
Vathael2009-09-27 20:01:21
Perhaps I misunderstood. I took it as a full set of skills is all you need to be good in Lusternia whereas the others are more reliant on skills and artifacts.

I've always maintained two things here:

Cost of entry is gigantic.

Artifacts play less of a role in god-making. You can buy effectiveness upgrades here, sure. In some cases (the artidemigodwarriorstack) you can get pretty strong at squashing people, but people can still deal with it. In other IRE games certain level 3 artis, stat artis, and +eq artis can create situations where it is mathematically impossible to beat people who stack those artifacts.*

*Often these people still aren't amazing because most of them buy such artifacts to compensate for being god-awful. Thus, you have people who are greater combatants still killing them, but if you ever gave those artis to the smart guy they'd be instagibbing everyone. If I had ever had a level 3 glaive/shield on gristand... ahhahaaha
