QUOTE (Aramel @ May 22 2010, 05:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Isn't it funny how we all started out wanting to be combatants? And now instead Xiran is squeaky-snuggly-influencer-faeling, and Aramel is crazy-book-astrology-lady.

You forgot to mention 'big, burning rock-throwing' before astrology

The idea of Fay was brainstormed with a friend of mine. I mentioned I wanted RP that was easy for me to follow. We got to the idea of a furrikin, and my friend threw out the idea of a squirrel, and all the neat things they could do.
Okay, so I wanted Fay to be squirelly, obviously! I haven't done everything I wanted to do with Fay, but my main goals succeeded. I developed around a history of having grown up in a forest without a family. She had encounters with explorers who came and left the area, and learned various things while they were around. I wrote the history but never submitted it.
My main goal for Fay wasn't actually to be all cute and adorable. Actually, it never occurred to me that people would even like Fay. That didn't concern me though. One of main goals was to at least act out SOME selected behaviors, those which you seen the most frequently, and work in new behaviors as time goes on. I've worked in new stuff, but I want more for Fay. As well as acting selected behaviors, also try to be realistic to her written history, which I have done so far.
Another main goal was to have Fay be naive to many things. Anyone who knows her well should be familiar with, "Fay does not understand!". That's because there is something there that may be blatantly obvious to other people, that Fay simply doesn't see at all. Another naive example is just yesterday, Fay gave back to somebody a particular item that she referred to as a sling-shot. That is how Fay saw the item, she didn't think of it as anything else. That is due to her background as much as it is to her naiveness.
This is partially related to her personality. I'm not a very social person. Not because of you guys, but because it is just who I am. I wanted Fay to be a social person, and I believe to have succeeded that in a way that to me feels very much like Fay. I should probably study on how squirrel's actually socialize though and develop into that!
I have Fay right where I want her right now. I just want to get into the squirrel side more!

Shedrin2010-06-04 01:25:27
Shedrin just wants to relax and do mental explorations and observe people and society. He gets annoyed and impatient quickly with people and things that are too metaphorically linear, "this is how it is and this is how should be", and people who can't view things from a "universal perspective". He likes observing and deconstructing complex systems like societies, and is frustrated with people who intentionally disregard parts of the meta-system (racism, nationalism, cliquish behaviours and attitudes, etc), but he generally doesn't reveal/push his thoughts on anyone who doesn't seem open to it as he enjoys his mental world much more than reality and doesn't care to expend energy on convincing others to explore it with him. As such, he's horrible at being proactive and feels a bit guilty that he doesn't write more or work to improve the Collective. He loves the Collective in theory and perceives it as having a lot of potential but needing a lot of work to get a consistent and fair system in place like what was in Old Hallifax.
Aicuthi2010-07-05 21:43:20
At first, Aicuthi was intended to be a very traditional lucidian character. Being around the Skyplumes softened her up a bit. I tinkered with the concept of two halves(thanks Elostian), and allowed her part human heritage to stem from a place of insecurity. She is a social mess when it comes to expressing herself. Sometimes she is reserved and composed, other times she has a hard time reigning in her feelings and opinions. Her emotions are almost always veiled. She wishes very much to emulate the behavior befitting a true lucidian, and strongly desires to "fit in" with the rest of the Collective. Her family is filled with a bunch of over achievers, so this gives her a source of anxiety to succeed herself or fall to the wayside.
Aicuthi can be very anti-social, but not on purpose. Once you get to know her she is kind and supportive, by no means a snobby scholar. Her upraising constitutes the core ideals of what Hallifax believes in, except that all people are exactly the same. She acknowledges people as individuals, and accepts that they can will to change their destiny if they truly desire it.
Lately I've hardened her back up a bit, since she's taken a few minor responsibilities within the Institute. Now that I'm feeling the groove of Hallifax's alignment and it's atmosphere, I want to make her more aggressive and hardline.
