Stop it. I promise you, if it's not ganking novices or raiding off-hours for hours endlessly jumping from godrealm to cosmic plane/faethorn/ethereal reflection or raiding avatars at ungodly hour or, well, whatever the latest complaint is, everyone's done it, no one is perfect nor is any one group of players clean.
Really, arguing over who ganks more newbies ('lol, you do!' 'LMAO nuh u do!' 'AHAHA SEE DEATHSIGHTZ?!') is like watching two crows arguing over who gets to eat the eyes.
The eyes may or may not be muy delicioso, you're still eating bloody roadkill.

Two points!
One, the eyeballs thing? It's really important. I thought everyone knew that.
Two, the group of players thing? Not at issue. Jozen's a filthy novice-farming (not just novice-killing!) coward, and you were kind enough to implement a system so he couldn't ever deny it. Most individual players, even our traditional griefers, know better. I heard he sodomizes puppies IRL too.
Eventru2009-09-26 19:15:40
And I heard Jozen's been spoken to, I didn't implement anything (I believe Estarra's already stated it's from On High), and the discussion's done.
This has become a regular back and forth and has consumed the thread. If the thread needs to be locked because it's just going to continue, fine. I can do that. I'd prefer not to.
So let us allow the topic to drift back more to what it should be, and less of what it shouldn't be. Constructive ideas for bettering the system, criticizing/whining/insulting people, respectively.
Thanks.

Then we get back to Estarra saying that the main option is either everyone-is-forced-to-participate, or it's removed, which led to a number of posts just asking for it to be removed (from the player-end of things, at least). Given the two options we had handed to us there's not much wiggle-room, and that then just leaves the thread to point at the people who are abusing things.
Celina2009-09-26 21:12:39
To be fair, if the higher ups are telling Estarra this needed to be implemented for all of IRE, I can understand how it can't be an opt in and out thing. I can also see how an opt in or out system could be abused. If she has rules set by her boss, then no amount of player pressure is going to make her say "well screw IRE, I'm doing what I want."
You aren't going to talk reason into Jozen, as he's shown with his very insightful posts, nor people that actually game systems. Estarra "talked" to him and he seemed "reasonable." Well, from the looks of it his pattern hasn't changed at all. You aren't going to be able to police people in an eternal e-peen contest. It is just not feasible, especially since the Admin generally take the stance of not wanting to constantly police player actions. So the only solution I see is an e-peen castration. No more rankings!

I like Celina.

Is there any possibility that the rankings and individual kills/deaths scoretables of this system could be improved to show results from a limited time window, such as in the last week or month?
I really think that's all that is necessary.

I have no idea why this image didn't occur to me before.

Trying to explain to a novice how to select Lowmagic or Highmagic so he can put up a shield fast enough to keep him from being killed at our nexus by a level 80 combatant, because I can't cast reflect and sprinkle salt fast enough to protect the other novice that just got killed there a moment earlier. This just to let the kid try to finish the first of his collegium quests. Oh, yeah, this kill rankings system is definitely a great way to cut down on what's made Lusternia a mockery of itself.
Ardmore2009-09-27 15:04:14
(Magnagora): Vathael (from the Tainted Plane of Nil) says, "Citizens, let us stray away from killing the novices. I understand old and young they all have the same combat prowess as one but I am sure you can decipher who to kill and not kill."
While an insult was tossed in there, it's about time he said something. Thanks Vath, let's see if people actually listen to your orders or not.

(Magnagora): You say, "Is this understood."
Sadly the only responses received were from..
Kalten tells you, "Understood sir."
(Magnagora): Kaikazu says, "My apologies, General Vathael. I was consumed in the scrolls I am currently reading. I hear, and obey."
Our novices/non-combatants...

You, as the General, can punish people who disobey. But will you?
Vathael2009-09-27 15:08:32
Yea. I don't mind easy expee.
Ardmore2009-09-27 15:11:00
Disfavours hurt more than a death (to Demigods!)
Vathael2009-09-27 15:12:18
Disfavoring a level 80 peasant. Which do you think would hurt more, a death or a disfavour.
Ardmore2009-09-27 15:14:26
I just assumed we were talking about someone else.
Level 80 peasant. Take him out of the city so he doesn't conglut and kill him, forcing him to pray...

Then make it block one-way-- you can go in, but not out. Done, just like cubix, only 2000 credits cheaper.
The more I think about this, the more I think this is the single biggest thing Estarra could do (short of the big time investments that are clearly out of consideration) to ease the Ethereal permaraid.
When hai'Gloh/Xion Initiative went in, the impregnability of Etherwilde/Etherglom was considered a problem so the archways were moved, moving it from impregnable to indefensible. And that's fine, it was far too impregnable before, but the pendulum was swung too far.
The fact that nexus distort doesn't really do anything in Etherwilde/Etherglom was defended because of the lack of a cubix exit into them. But in the current configuration, the lack of a cubix exit means nothing at all. The Faethorn cubix exit combined with an indefensible entry point means they might as well have one. In fact, please give us cubix exits into Etherwilde and Etherglom, just so we can stop hearing that the cubix disparity matters. It so completely doesn't.
Giving Etherwilde and Etherglom the same access to nexus distort that Nil and Celestia have would mean raids would have to be done for some reason because getting out would not be an essentially-unblockable cakewalk. It wouldn't stop raids any more than it ever stopped Nil or Celestia raids. It would just stop the trivial, petty, constant raids by people who are just bored of the other bashing areas, and who realize that nothing can stop them waltzing in and out as they please.
Making the archways affected by nexus distort might have more impact than any of the changes made when hai'Gloh and XI were neutered, in fact. It's not like it'll change the culture of rewarding the worst behavior, or rebuild the murdered momentum behind every other element of Lusternia that is now fallow; but it's the best thing we can do that can be implemented in less than an hour. And a few cubix exits are more than worth it for that, given they'd cost us essentially nothing.

Should Divine be listed?

Yeah. So they can keep track of who abuses zapping.

I'd say it's more useful to see who's insulting the Divine, which all deserve a basic level of respect no matter how many shrines you want to dust or how badly you wish they would be eaten by Morgfyre (or in Morg's case, eaten by Kethuru)
