Which is why even a might-check isn't going to work completely. Might doesn't actually mean anything, especially as non-coms still need to learn a lot of skills for hunting / tradeskilling / etc.
Just let us opt-out, please. Solves a whole lot of headaches at once, with a very simple if-check.

Eliminating the rankings == improvement. They serve no real/useful purpose that I can tell, and only encourage griefing.
KILLS and whatnot are fine, however, if the rankings themselves go away.

I don't see why there is argument about opt in/opt out systems. Everything is fine with it except the RANKINGS - remove that, problem solved.
All you are left with is the ability to track kills/deaths (like most of us do with scripts anyways) but the game would do it and so we could look at Jozen and say "there is the reason people leave the game"

I don't mean to be the dick here... but do we always point towards Jozen... How many of these kids are actually combatants and how many were present on the last ethereal raids... How many even pretend to be combatants?

Anyone who ever put Krellan on a moral high ground at any point is the very model of delusion, kill point system or no. An organization is just an idea, and projecting backwards on to all members of an org, especially in relation to an idea as inherently based on the indivudal as this kill system is fallicious.
That said, moral high ground is entirely irrelevant to Xenthos's original points- even if Xenthos was camping outside of newton for newly-thrown-out novices to drop at his feet, the arguments he makes about the system would still stand or fall on their own merits.

I'm hardly a saint when it comes to PK, but 10 of my 16 kills were during my solo raids. 1 versus many. I actually died a few times too, since...ya know...I take risks for enjoyable pk.
None of mine have involved camping bashing grounds or gloms letting me kill them at the nexus or ganking random novices that are walking on the road. ALL of mine are raids.

How about we stop rubbing our medicine bags and get back to removing the rankings portion of this whole thing which is pretty much the only issue with it all?
