I think it makes very little point to shoot down a skill because a minority is able to emulate it with abilities they already have.

I have a cameo, does that mean that I should not be able to weave a changeself?

I (for the purpose of the argument) have a mirror, why should you be able to genderbend?

I have a pair of wings, why should Guardians get to make them?

I have a Gem, why should you be able to hide yourself with stealth?

I made my opinion known. I didn't expect to meet the Inquisition...

And, while your examples are much better, I'd still say it goes back to which came first because people buy artifacts to emulate abilities they cannot learn.

If the administration makes a decision, we all must live with it, sure. Here's to hoping for something more interesting, original, and useful than free teleports. tongue.gif

Maybe a type of scry that only works in the area, but does not trigger aethersight. Kind of like the crow skill, just make it super long eq so it's not stepping on toes.

I still say to make trans planar the ability to instantly travel to any known plane your nexus is connected to, and then let communes transverse Astral too. Other people's nexus you'd still only be able to go one plane up or down.

Even adding the astral bit its still just... meh. The commune nexuses as far as I remember are not linked to astral at all so it would be weird that suddenly communes have a connection there (which is why the mirror on moon is nice as it provides the link in a different way and is actually slightly cheaper than it is for the cities.)

The maze I like just because it brings to mind searching through the planar vibrations (though more physically than at a nexus) it also has the potential to introduce new areas, parts of planes that are normally inaccessible but through this unconventional and dangers travel you can stumble upon them, perhaps some of these areas could provide a less common place to gateweave, providing cities with a method for getting to their appropriate planes. Perhaps there some secluded section of ethereal beyond normal senses where a city could set up two gates there to get to water.

Of course that's just me hoping though and probably involves too much work.

something similar to champion-rescue, maybe a 10p defense that lets you instantly tess to any target on any plane (coming in off-balance or something to keep it balanced), but drops when you do? Not sure if that's worth the extra 100cr from conglute, though.

I'd probably be wary of replicating champ abilities, and I think this might actually be better than the champ one.

Wait... How is Native Teleport a -weaker- version of Astroglide?

At first I was just going to suggest astroglide as the trans skill, but that doesn't make sense as a public skill, plus it would make astrologers unhappy.

However with Native teleport they now have most likely two different spheres they can teleport to. (and it doesn't require a player to be an anchor, but sadly without advanced tesseract they won't be able to get back down sad.gif )

It also solves the guardians gettting up to cosmic/nil problem because they can run to thier nexus on astral and link downwards to defend.

Oooh, I just got another idea...

How about...

Planar Beacon
With your knowledge of the planes, you can form a beacon out of the material of the plane you are on. When you activate this beacon, all creatures and denizens on the plane will be attracted to your location. (does not work on prime or on smobs tongue.gif )

How about the ability to link more than 1 reserve at a time from your nexus, since it's just a time-waster, really? (Still can't link more than 1% from an astral node, but if you could draw 5% reserves a link from the nexus, that would also probably help. Not sure if it's trans-worthy, but eh.)

I remember that there was a power problem, in Seren at least, for the Ascension Event. Maybe make the trans skill let you LINK , at the cost of losing 10% of the power you link? (also require a Confirm, so you don't accidentally link 100 when you mean 10).
