Bigger rift, please. That I can store weapons in, too.
Daganev2009-09-23 03:06:40
So trans planar will be a rift you can create in any room to store any type of items for you?

Yeah, just imagine the Celestine/Nihilist/Wiccan radicals that kamikaze during smob raids.

How about creating a trans-dimensional echo of yourself, that allows you to store all defences between logins (but not deaths)?

Heh, that's a bit impossible.

Well, probably not... but we could consider something about an enhanced rift. I like the utility aspect but would people really think it is worth a trans skill? Let me know!

Edit: You know, I never noticed, but even defences that are afflictions get cured when you log out (here's looking at you, insomnia).
That's some powerful anti-defence-longevity code right there!

I think it makes very little point to shoot down a skill because a minority is able to emulate it with abilities they already have.
I have a cameo, does that mean that I should not be able to weave a changeself?
I (for the purpose of the argument) have a mirror, why should you be able to genderbend?
I have a pair of wings, why should Guardians get to make them?
I have a Gem, why should you be able to hide yourself with stealth?

This is all entirely different, actually.
Cameo and changeself have very different effects. Cameo changes your stats and resistances. Changeself hides your stats and resistances. Same with the mirror and genderbend. No general skills mirror artifact effects.
You bought arti wings because you could not make wings. You would not buy wings as a guardian. However, if trans planar becomes the ability to sprout wings, your wings are devalued to exactly zero, leaving you with nothing except a loss. That seems to be Iasmos' concern. He doesn't want his artifacts devalued to exactly zero unless he knew he was going to get a refund, which he probably won't.
Zenon2009-09-23 03:32:17
Secondsight in Psionics leaves you blind if you log out with it up, but you lose the defence.

Umm no, we already have items that will hold things for you, rack, chest (boobs also hold items too), dresser. I don't need a rift to hold items, we even have things like purses which slow decay time. So Nothxu, unless it completely stops decay time.

Is this what you meant to say? The part in the middle there.
Edit: Yes, I did figure it out after posting, but thanks for trying to help.

How about moving aethersense from trans discernment to trans planar, and adding in a new trans discernment ability that lets you detect what other people cure (especially for hidden things like fmind/spirit)?

But affs are saved across logouts.... so I don't see why it should be so different for defs.

I like utility. Rift++ would make me happy, but I wouldn't call it trans-worthy.
EDITing in an idea: Maybe a phase-step ability? Like... PHASE N, you poof two rooms to the north. Differs from sprint/glide in that it doesn't take you to the end, just part of the way, and different from Night Flight in that it's of fixed distance and you can direct it.

Actually, I would like the larger rift to be a non-Transcendent ability in Planar. We all know that Lusternia's skills can be a little sparse on abilities, so adding a new utility thing here and there would be a good thing.

I think discipline is the only one that is truly 'sparse', but yeah, improved rift at ~mythical planar would be cool.

Enhanced Rift!
Lets you enter your rift yourself. Contains a chest which holds your normal rift, and a cabinet that can hold items Less then 5 pounds

I think I pointed this out somewhere else... afflicts are not like defenses. Afflictions are generally stored on a persona database while many defenses are stored on node data which are recycled whenever you log out (which helps preserve data bloat). Anyway, it's one of those things that seems like it should be easy but really would require a complete rewrite of defenses which would be a multi-month project and result in data bloat. Certainly not worth it for one skill.

Kind of sounds like a cross between an illusory manse and a real manse (semi-illusory manse?). Not sure about that.
However, hmm....
I'm vaguely wondering of a trans planar skill that does allow access to a temporary manse room from the aetherplex (if you don't have a manse), but if you do have a manse, it would offer some kind of manse bonus or power or goodie.
Someone want to help me out with this thought?

Why not combine it with Xiel's idea so that you recovery sanity (also maybe aetherwill) faster if you're in a manse not locked into a module?
