QUOTE (Backstory)
In a small corner in the beautiful realm of Balilonia, there were whispers of a great treasure. The great King Anthony, a benevolent ruler for over fifty years, has fallen ill and died. In his years as king, he accumulated all sorts of wealth and treasure. He kept it hidden in a secret cove, away from the royal family and his all subjects. Why he did this, nobody knows. The king kept its location a well-guarded secret. Only he and a few of his most trusted guards knew its wareabouts. But alas, a corrupt guard stole the map and died.

A map of the cove worked its way into the hands of a random group of travelers. They did the democratic thing, and joined forces to find the treasure together. Little did they know that warlocks were in their midsts, ready to sabotage them. Lead by the great Dragon Slayer Slogoth (Visaeris), they were able to root out the evil doers and find the treasure.

Some reacted to the treasure in different ways. You must realize that being such a massive stockpile of gold this influx of economic wealth had a large impact on the realm of Balilonia. A dwarf (Daganev) used his share to build a line airships that specialized in adult entertainment. A kobold (Lyco) used his share to become a cheiftain. But the leader of the fellowship, oh so crafty Slogoth the half-troll, used his treasure for evil.

After a long journey to his homeland, Morslor, he hired a few thugs for kicks - to show who the new head troll was. But alas, things snowballed out of control. Before he knew it he was leading bands of trolls and mercenary men into the heartland of Balilonia, raiding and pludering. He couldn't help it, he was bored and rich. A dragon slayer with no dragons to slay is a dangerous thing.

He had become a menace. He had to be stopped. The current king of Balilonia, King Tyler, sent out a call-to-arms for all able-bodied adventurers to strap up and form a strike team aimed to take out Slogoth. They would go deep into Morslor, fighting any opposition, with only one aim: to kill half-troll Slogoth. Only the most daring joined.

There were whispers of Slogoth's spies among them. Countless dangers were inbetween them and the money-corrupted Slogoth. The Quest begins.

RULES:

  • Votes must be in bold for them to count, like this: Vote: Joe. Unvotes should also be bolded (Unvote: Jane) so that I can spot them easier, but it's not required.
  • A simple majority of votes (1/2 the number of living players plus one, rounded down) will achieve a lynch and end the Day. Unvoting after that point will not save someone's life.
  • Nights may last up to 48 hours, but may be shorter if all night choices are in before the deadline.
  • Dead men tell no tales. If you get killed, stop talking until the game is over (a contentless "go "/Bah! post is fine).
  • Do not discuss this game with other players outside of this thread, unless your role PM specifically stated you could do so (as scum, and then only at night).
  • Do not directly quote any PMs you receive. Do not paraphrase flavor. You can give vague outlines, nameclaim, roleclaim, fakeclaim, etc. Paraphrasing flavor is a no-no. Don't do it!
  • If you see something you don't understand, ASK! If it has to do with your role, feel free to PM me directly.
  • Treat this game as a commitment; if you're going to be gone for longer than 48 hours (not counting weekends), let us know. I will replace severely inactive players, but your fellow players may choose to lynch you themselves first.
  • Any action which would be illegal to actually do is also illegal to fake (for example, posting a made-up PM that shows a Cop result of guilty/innocent).
  • Have fun; don't be an ass; participate!

SPECIAL:

  • The Town is the Fellowship. The Mafia are Slogoth's Spies.
  • This game is based off a game I ran last year Mafia: The Quest. Certain elements found in that game are found in this one, but they are not exactly alike.
  • Players who played in the last game are not reprising their roles, they received random roles like everbody else.
  • Every player has a set amount of gold. Gold can be used to buy items or information at shops. You can give gold to anyone during the day by typing GIVE X GOLD TO X.
  • Shops occur day 2, day 4, and day 6. The type of shop is random. To buy from a shop, use BUY (ITEM). Once the day is over, you cannot revisit that shop.
  • Items cannot be traded! Once you have an item, thats it. Its yours for life.
  • Each day, there will be a challenge or obstacle your group has to face on their way to Slogoth. How you face it will simply be structured into a vote. You must reach the challenge majority before the lynch majority. The day will only end when both majorities have been reached. You can vote for both items at once to expedite things.

EXAMPLE TOWNIE ROLE PM:

QUOTE
* * *

Bali

Alignment: Fellowship

You are a simple blacksmith. You cobble together swords, build armor, etc. Awhile back, that dastardly Slogoth stole your precious dragonsword. You were forging that for a true knight. You are on this mission to get your sword back.

Forged Armor: Once in the game, during the night, you can give someone your forged armor, protecting them from almost certain death. PROTECT X.

Pregame, roles being sent out.
Unknown2009-09-28 19:02:07
All roles out, PM me if you did not receive your role PM

It is now Day 1

Your group has formed. You are preparing for the journey. Everyone is suited up, rations packed, and waterskins are in place. There is only one thing missing. A leader. Without a leader, your group will wander the lands aimlessly. Do you have what it takes to lead? The leader cannot be lynched and will also receive a small bonus purse of 500 gold, courtesy of King Tyler. If the leader dies, there will not be another.

I came here and saw no one, then I saw Bali, then no one. I also don't have a role yet. I will summon Visaeris to come and be cranky at you. Hurry up.

You get one PM every five minutes, my last game took me three hours to send them all out. Be patient.
Lorick2009-09-28 21:28:14
Yep, no rush guys. I'm surprised he had it ready to go so soon after being in the last one. Bali is really working on this one.
Unknown2009-09-28 22:17:20
updated, have fun
Unknown2009-09-28 22:27:44
I wonder if the updated part means everyone has their roles now. Thanks for the speed on this Balizar I'm sure modding one of these is a pain in the ass.
Lorick2009-09-28 22:34:45
I do, so perhaps. If this follows the same pattern as the last game, first challenge will be to vote for whom the leader of our little group will be.

Look up.
Arix2009-09-28 22:42:12
I'm going to nominate Shiri for leader, he's usually a solid choice for things like t his
Lorick2009-09-28 22:45:36
I'd like to put forth my name for consideration for leader. My name is Tith, and I am an arcanist of no small measure. My skills would be well suited to the advancement of the group as a whole, and this journey has some measure of importance to me. I can answer questions regarding myself, so long as those asking the question have a clear understanding of Bali's new rule (IE, no paraphrasing flavour.
Arix2009-09-28 23:05:41
I disagree. Never let the squishy guy lead the group
Lorick2009-09-28 23:13:06
So... You rather vote for someone who hasn't spoken up or encouraged people to ask them questions? That isn't a good plan for making someone non-lynchable. Also, I'm not squishy, I'm quite useful. And the last time a brute lead one of these things we had him turn rogue and ravage the kingdom.

Good point, where the hell is our tank?
Arix2009-09-28 23:14:14
I'm just concerned you might get stabbed in the face before you can get a spell off
Lorick2009-09-28 23:18:05
I also wouldn't mind having someone with some kill resist in the slot either, but it would be best to make sure of their alignment before placing them in. I have doubts that Bali would let the town get away with what happened the last quest again.
Arix2009-09-28 23:19:04
why are you and I the only ones participating? Speak up you lurky bastards
Lorick2009-09-28 23:21:43
Heh, true enough. I'll answer any questions anyone has for me, and I don't mind sharing the reward gold with anyone who wants to support me. I'm not greedy and I don't mind the spotlight.

Nominate Lorick for Leader
