oh, that was supposed to have this in it
UNVOTE LORICK
UNVOTE LORICK
Unknown2009-09-29 04:23:07
Hello all! Nice to meet you. I don't really have an idea of who would best lead us, though I've always trusted myself to lead me down the right path. I'm not sure I can trust someone who can summon the dead back to life! I sense there may be some leaders here strong in character for sure, however, I thus far cannot trust any of you. Until then, I trust the one person I know is working for this Fellowship.
NOMINATE AtS FOR LEADER
NOMINATE AtS FOR LEADER

We don't need a narcissist for a leader anymore than we need a chatterbox necromancer
Unknown2009-09-29 04:29:45
I am not so much trying to convince you, as I am making it plain that no one that has spoken up thus far has made me comfortable in bestowing the privilege of being immune to the Fellowship deciding their fate. So far we've had a crazed magician of some sort and then a nomination for someone who has not even raised their voice yet. The only one who stands honest and logical thus far is Requiem in my eyes.
Arix2009-09-29 04:32:44
Requiem? Hmm, maybe. I admit that voting someone who isn't here yet might not be too fantastic. For all I know, he could be another whore like from the last quest. I wonder if it's possible to revote for leader?
Unknown2009-09-29 04:36:08
You mean change your nomination? I was running under that assumption. It would pretty... not good if you only were able to nominate a single time. I assumed it was much like voting in that you could un-nominate or retract your nomination. I will ask Bali if he doesn't reply here personally.

I sent him a message, but reread the day one text, and there is this. Says it works like a regular vote.
Furien2009-09-29 04:45:34
Okay, really, what is it with this 'Magic is bad' crap? He can summon multiple ghosts. Ghosts. Spirits. Not zombies, not skeletons, not rotting flesh golems, spirits. Necromancy involves communing with the dead in some way, not necessarily restricted to raising corpses.
Aside from that, again, why is magic bad? You people are just throwing around an 'I don't trust the freakish magic user so I'll nominate myself for my own personal gain, which by the way isn't greedy at all' excuse. Or similar.

I don't trust people who can talk to the dead and actually get an answer back. Which, by the way, is necromancy.
Also, UN-NOMINATE SHIRI
NOMINATE REQUIEM

I don't think many are saying
Unknown2009-09-29 04:51:19
Damn it. I don't think many people are saying all magic is bad. Just magic in the wrong hands. And there is little personal gain for nominating oneself in most regards. Yes, you are safe from lynches if you DO get chosen, but by nominating yourself in the first place, you put yourself under much more scrutiny than someone who says nothing. You also put yourself at more risk during the night.
Furien2009-09-29 04:55:46
The group's leader is a better protection target than anything else, in the event that the doctor believes the leader isn't a scum in disguise. Doubly so considering this is just day 1.
Aside from that, I don't know about you guys, but 500 gold is a fair bit more than I have on me right now. That's got to be worth something.

I don't really know what the shops will offer, but the gold is fairly inconsequential to me. Also, I would hope the doctor would believe the leader, who was nominated by a majority, would not be scum. Even still, sometimes things go wrong, people get blocked, or killed, or people can get around others. There's no question that the leader is in a fair deal of danger.

That's why I'm sure we have a tank somewhere and we should nominate that person. That way, we don't have to waste the doctor every night on the leader so the scum could freely go after an investigator or the doctor.
Furien2009-09-29 05:01:56
The leader, by grace of being who they are, is going to pretty much be a tank regardless of their role when we nominated them. They can't be lynched and any competent doctor will keep them protected. Assuming that the doctor plays right and doesn't go into the spotlight too much and never reveals or hints themselves, there's a 1/16 shot-in-the-dark chance of someone roleblocking the doctor, and a who-knows-how-small chance that it will coincide perfectly with an attempted nightkill on the leader at the same time.
Namely: it's not going to happen, I'd think. The only thing that the leader would be at risk for is dayvigs or random challenge-related deaths.

Annoying 'tank' language aside, Casilu has a point, it'd be convenient if we could get someone with NK resistance as leader, but honestly anyone can fakeclaim that... and they usually do.
Shiri2009-09-29 05:07:48
Lorick just wasted what could have been a really useful power if used correctly, but I'm guessing town anyway. I'm not sure if I actually want to have him as invincible but I also don't want a giant mass claim like we had last time. I'ma hold off for now but let's not have a billion claims so the mafia can cherrypick targets. Keep it to 1 more or so.
Also, you incorrectly assume that the mafia are any less likely to be lurky now than when they had a whopping 10-day time limit. They're not. There will always be lurkers and there's no particular strategic advantage or disadvantage compared to normal, so we still need to lynch lurkers. We can wait on that though.
Bali, I couldn't see this in the setup posts: do we lynch before electing a leader, or the other way around, or can we choose?

Also, I don't THINK we could loot corpses last game. So there actually isn't any giant incentive for the scum to go after the leader at all. But I might be wrong, I only played one (long, grueling) day of the last one before being randomly ganked by Lowe to prove he wasn't on my side...
Celina2009-09-29 05:10:31
Well this is awkward.
I'm the King's knight. I resist nightkills, but not lynches.
