I think ive seen this mentioned before, but oh well.
For quiet a few people, demigod is the last obstacle to surpass in Lusternia. Thus end-game. Why arent demigods given the chance to become ascendants through there essence gain. Im not talking some super easy small amount. Something like 50 million or even 100 million is achievable, but would take a LOT of work to get. Both the amounts arent unachievable at all and both of those have been surpassed if i remember correctly. This wouldnt add a lot more ascendants to any particular city/commune or be a massive imbalance for some reason as far as i can see. A chunk of essence that big would keep demigods around more, bashing for the essence to achieve a greater end-game that would possibly take months or a year or more (if you take into account the essence cost of transing ascendency as well) and would make a lot of people happier and keep em around longer. As it stands, there is VERY little chance of a demigod being raised through a nexus of power because there isnt much reason, as everyone knows. And the ascendency event is only once a year, so the chance of you just winning is kinda low, and then the chances of you winning the overall event is very small.
The game is Lusternia, Age of Ascension ... Yet i almost know that i have next to no chance at becoming an ascendant
In other words: Give me something to do besides try to get gold to trans skills...give me something to do with my essence! ...Please

Out of pure selfishness I agree.
Barendur2009-10-01 22:06:25
Also. A lot of players have been complaining about the amount of raids recently. These are bored demigods mostly! Give em something to do besides snipe newbies on the upper planes!
Zallafar2009-10-01 22:28:02
Vathael mentioned somewhere that his essence was 195 million.
Unknown2009-10-01 22:57:48
You're asking to turn bored demigods into bored ascendants.
Lendren2009-10-01 22:59:15
It's more than that now. Without trying to get any more than I need to keep a blessing and the chance at a divine favor (which I haven't gotten anyway), I've passed 198M now and I doubt I'm anywhere near catching him (and not trying). And I agree, it's frustrating that having gotten to demigod by the "wrong" path (whether it was the easier or harder one is anyone's guess -- Nejii says they're about equally hard), I have zero chance of getting to see Ascendance. But right now, I'm not sure how much I care, personally. But that's just me. It ought to be possible for the sake of others who still do.
As one of the people most likely to benefit from the "trade in essence for Ascension" deal, though, I'd have to say I'm against it. Instead, the problem's still the same one it always has been: that cities and communes have every reason to raise people who are level 80 and no reason to raise demigods. Easily fixed with minimal coding by making the cost of ascension pro-rated by level, but the admins don't seem to want to do it. So the way it is, inexplicably, is the way they want it. Demigod is intended to be a dead end.
So maybe we'll get the essence for multiple (non-simultaneous) trade skills thing. That would be cool too.

214 million now and I haven't played in like 2 weeks.
Razenth2009-10-01 23:11:15
Lendren or Vath, you totally need to go to the test server and seeing if a lvl80 repeatedly killing you and having you regain the essence is faster than just plain old bashing. Ideally have someone who can res you.
Vathael2009-10-01 23:12:23
What? Killing a demigod gets you next to nothing and by next to nothing, I mean nothing.
Eventru2009-10-01 23:13:07
This was a possible October focus (thus meaning what our coding resources would be put into), but via a vote here on the forums (which was announced ingame!), our focus was instead chosen to be Streamlining Combat! Maybe next time?
Merik2009-10-01 23:14:40
It's ridiculously sad. I got .01% from killing Romero at level 82.
Mirami2009-10-02 03:25:40
How about 3 skills from a standard tradeskill, as a demigod-ability?
I.E. Vathael could get Senso, Crotamine, and Dulak (three abilities from the poisons skillset, not the trans skill, clearly). This would help eliminate the problem of there not being enough of the low-demand tradeskills- Lendren could be that poisonist he's always wanted, etc.
Overpowered?

Keep it clean, please. And by clean, I mean don't jab at each other for rises.
Furien2009-10-02 05:08:44
The experience you gain from Demigods is considerably lower because the overall 'counter' of experience is reset. Demigods operate on essence, not experience. The more essence they have, the more experience you get.
To illustrate this: A Titan essentially has all the experience in them that they've acquired from level 1 to whatever % they're at as a Titan.
A Demigod, upon becoming level 100, completely drops the experience table and now starts at a flat 300,000 or so essence and builds up from there. The XP you get begins getting counted from their 0 essence point. This is why Demigods and Ascendants are generally worthless.
A similar principle applies to offering their corpses at shrines.

But Vath says he probably has enough experience to have bashed to Demigod twice. Surely this means he will be worth something?
Unknown2009-10-02 11:58:32
200 million essence is a drop in the bucket compared to how much it takes to get to demigod. Trust me. Someone shared a list of how much it takes to get to each level, and it takes more than that just getting from 99 to 100.

I'm 100% positive you are wrong. 120m took 3 RL months of me hunting, with Demigod-style crits, in the toughest places (Muud, for example), 6+ hours a day.
So, your list is incorrect. Sorry.
(You really should try getting essence and see how long it takes to get a couple million before you believe random lists...)

Assuming that XP = essence, I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong.

You're insane, there's no chance it takes more than 200 million essence to get from 99-100. I'm only at 43 million and I feel it's already taken me longer than just to get that than it does to Demigod - probably wrong, but 200 million? Don't think so.

Then perhaps your assumption is wrong, because we've been told before that they are related to one another but not the same.
120m essence is (roughly) the amount of hunting from 0-100, we're guessing (those of us who have bashed it up). And is, coincidentally, the amount of essence it takes to transcend Ascendance.
