Having watched at least ten novices get zap-killed at the nexus during raids... saying 'keep your shield up' isn't an effective counter, because -somebody- will forget, and then that somebody will die. Also, you come of EQ when you transverse, and there's nothing more annoying than transversing into a zap-zerg.
So, I'd agree that a zap-immunity (similar to the stun immunity) would be a good thing. Say it's 1s, a single demigod could still zap-hunt a running target, but a demi-zerg couldn't kill anybody lower than circle 70 instantly from range.

Also if you're going to make it some kind of temporary immunity, don't make the demi waste essence/balance if it whiffs, say something about an electrical charge in the air ruining the attempt.

Definitely.

Zapping is a flavour skill. It was asked to be input as a flavour skill probably over a year ago because, you know, since we're semi-divine, shouldn't we have a bit more divinely abilities?
It doesn't need to turn into some 'delay, and then blackout if you shield' thing. If you're really genuinely concerned about novices, have zap fail without an essence cost on people below level 40 or 50. Or make the nexi zap-proof, but if you did that you'd make the demigod squads cry.

Actually, raising an anti-zap shield around nexi doesn't seem like such a bad idea. I could get behind that, since it lets defenders safely transverse in, and everyone agrees that nexus sniping is lame, just as beckoning off nexi was determined to be lame. After all, aren't the nexi supposed to be focal points of protective power anyways?

Eh, I am not sure I could get behind that, just because I think 'safe rooms' are a pain in the ass already.

I wouldn't mind it if things like dreamweaving, etc, also were not allowable from the nexus ('you can't go be offensive while sitting in a safe room').

Nexus being a safe room doesn't help people who are doing something besides hide at the nexus, or for people who aren't defending against an Ethereal/Cosmic raid. I was sitting at 6200 health with a truefavour, trans magic, proofed robes and all that good stuff, and they instantly killed me with timed zaps while I was trying to keep Viynain from breaking.
If we ever raid them, and they had all the demi's they had that night sit at the nexus, they could probably just blow up half our less tanky raiders without ever stepping off
