I love Lusty. I enjoy my time on it, but sometimes ... its so frustrating.
My biggest gripe, it can be so clickish, its worse than any high school could ever be. Unless you are some of the 'chosen ones' your things on aethers typically fall on deaf ears. Your requests go unanswered. Its bad when you have to wait for a rl friend to get home so you can get what you need done. Forget RP, don't matter if he is an enemy to everything you are in ... its the only way the unpopular can get anything.
No wonder it seems so many new players come and go.

Lusternia IS incredibly clique-y.
In my time between Mag's clique and Glom's clique, I was bored and had no one to talk to and really didn't play all that often. I know the feeling.

I still don't have a clique.

On a second thought - Let's not turn this into lack of rants. If I need retitle the thread I will. The topic of this thread is that some feel Lusternia is too cliquey. I'll start deleting posts with whatever your grievance of the day is, and if I end up deleting too many I'll lock the thread.

I think this is more like girly gossip.

Make my hippogriff male. Then I won't remember the frustrations with Lusty.
Eventru2009-10-15 05:03:59
I can't. You'll need to request that of Estarra, though my understanding is that the way the system exists is it would be a very difficult thing to change (actually, it would have to destroy your existing hippogriff and create a new one, thereby losing whatever description you have also). And genders may or may not have different description chances, etc. You're asking a grocery store clerk to make you a bottle of expensive wine, so to speak. Even Estarra can't manage that over night!

That'd be okay. Destroy it, male hippogriff egg. Life is good. But it still doesn't take away from my original post. Lusty is too clicky. If you ain't in the clicks, you get nada.

Is it just me, or is everything clique-y?
Achaea is clique-y, my job is clique-y, my friends are clique-y...well, my college is probably too big to be clique-y.
But really, every time you get a group of people that are constantly around each other, there's going to be an in-crowd and there are going to be outcasts. Hello, life.

To a point, yes. Lusty is not life, its a game and when that game is no longer fun because you are the outcast and it takes over seven hours before you can find someone to help ... pass.

Negative Nelly has no friends. Get out and talk to people. Make friends.
Unknown2009-10-15 06:03:56
You can still make friends even if you're not in a clique. Just means you have to do it one by one. Just because you see a group of cliquey friends doesn't mean you can't go up and talk to one of them and just be their friend.
I'm not in a clique!
I'm not in a clique!
Lorick2009-10-15 06:38:06
Well, I think what Dugan was saying was that it wasn't the fact he was having trouble finding friends if he wanted them but rather he was having trouble communicating or accomplishing things due to other people's views of his character's worth compared to their time and enjoyment. Like, I need something from Solaris but Solaris is busy and puts me on hold for an hour, but would jump through hoops for Casilu. Rough example.

Let's make our own. It will be the we're-not-them-over-there clique.

I need a clique. Can I join?
Diamondais2009-10-15 14:22:37
See, all I can see now is that click emote.
Clique!
Click! Click!
anyways...
Go out, try and connect with people. Not much else you can do.

Agree with Romero. New people are constantly getting into 'cliques'. It's less of a clique when 90% of your organization is involved in said clique... and with more joining every day. Yes, it can be work to try and do enough stuff that people notice you and connect with you. This is why you play a MUD.

This isn't why I play a mud. I joined a commune because its ideals met the goals for Dugan at the moment. Serenwilde should be its own clique and not have cliques within itself. No organization should. Because Dugan does not sit at Mother and influence guards and huggle and/or fight with certain players he needs to wait hours on end.
Sorry, but no. Dugan would much rather sit down and talk philosophical with Casilu than have some of the conversations I have seen others have at Mother. (And yes, Dugan and Cas have actually had many a philosophical discussion in the past).
Unknown2009-10-15 16:12:39
So... if you are not going to interact with others, then why would they interact with you?
I mean, you have discussions with Casilu. So I could see frustrations arising if Casilu just lol'd at you when you asked her for help. But if you are going to criticize the hugglers, then... yea, you get the point.

I interact with people everyday. Right now I am helping two people complete two different quests and let another use my shears again.
