I'm not fond of nerfing artifacts in such a manner. Perhaps another solution would be to make distort abilities similar to a carcer effect for cubix/medallion/havens etc, chance to fail and lost eq or something so you can't just spam it. "Your concentration on parting the blah blah blah has been disrupted by the field of distortion in the area."
This isn't a nerf to an artifact though. The artifact was never designed to be used for raiding. It's designed for quick and easy access to the planes. This is why is also can take you to astral, or the Elemental Planes. This is simply a buff to an expensive discretionary, designed to prevent abuse of an exploit made possible by said artifact.

Regardless of however you want to see the situation, the pointed out objects were artifacts and thus artifacts are effected and therefore a nerf to said artifacts. Again, I'm not fond of making a $900 investment worthless when some organization decides to drop full shrine powers because a handful of people decide to raid.

Adding a 20 delay to using a cubix in enemy territory is most certainly a nerf to the cubix.
Buffing nexus distortion is somewhat debaitable.

900.00 investment? Man your currency exchange is messed up. It's only 600.00 for me and the Canadian dollar sucks.

My torus cost me 3200 credits, about 1059 CAD. I guess I could take into consideration I had to trade in a few arties at the time to get it and then bought those arties back and up the price on how much it actually cost me all together.
Gregori2009-10-27 01:57:29
Ah torus, pardon my confusion then. I was assuming cubix.
The proposed changes also don't make these artifacts worthless. If the only reason you bought them was so you had a get out of jail free card, then I would say the proposed changes are right on the mark for being needed.
If you think they will be worthless after this change, I would be willing to take that torus off your hands. I am sure we could swing a deal with Estarra.

Well you can still use it just fine.
You just have to actually stay and fight, find another way out, or simply don't raid on the assumption that you can pile straws on the camel's back with impunity. Surely a combatant of your calibur knows that raising distortive powers takes far more energy then actual hit and run raids, and you wouldn't shy away from a fight that you had provoked. So what's the problem?

The preferred solution is Nexus Distort only, not shrine distort, which is a much more limited nerf.

I don't mind fighting, I don't like fighting 10v1. I have skill whereas their only saving grace is numbers.

I think my suggestion is a much better suggestion then sitting and waiting for a minute and hoping you don't get zerged while you are waiting.

Walk out? Make a rift? Use some other skills?

Then there shouldn't be a problem then, mighty warrior.
Cubixes are not meant to be escape moves, they are meant for travelling around. The former is just a secondary benefit.
Kialkarkea makes a point though that if you solo raided, surely you go to do so for teh fitz and not the lulz. So might as well stick around.

iknorite, I'll stick around for teh fitz wen teh fitz don't all consist of 4 people shield stunning, 3 people vining, 2 people on choke duty, and the 2 BMs on pinleg. o mity warrior. Surely if you are so great you could come up with some way to use your spec for something other than pinleg.

Is this a discussion about distort or which team has the lamest tactics? Cause I am pretty sure every team is lame.

I don't know, somehow we got off with Kialkarkea trying to act like he had some knowledge of combat and ignoring my suggestion towards this discussion and Shuyin trying to be a troll.

What, all I was saying was that if you wanted your solo fights, you probably shouldn't go solo raiding in org territory where the defenders are expected not to go in one at a time circling menacingly like in the movies. Therefore, complaints about cubixes ruining 'true' solo raids don't really hold much water with me.

Are you sure you're reading the right posts here? Heh. You're the one trolling... just look at all those smilies.
(Not really trying to get in a debate here, but please, take a step back before you throw the "troll" card and take a deep breath!)

Oh, I had one of these where I messed Viynain up in the SoD, territory Mag claims, and he called for 6 people to come help him cause I had him "locked".
