I've been dueling a bit in the last couple days, trying to get the hang of druidic combat. (yay saplock) Half the time my duels come out draws, if only because we timed out. Many times, I had just gotten the sap to stick (T_T) as I am still learning how to time the sap with the tic of my demesne.
I think the current 10 minute time limit is a little too short, and I would like to propose that we extend the time a little. I would like 20 minutes, but I have a feeling a lot of people would say that's too long, so maybe extend it to 15 minutes?
Or maybe I just suck really really badly, and 10 minutes is more than enough for everybody else and I just need to spar more.

I'd like to see the time limit raised, also. If you get two decent fighters in there, there can be a lot of back-and-forth before one emerges victorious. I often get the upper hand right around the time limit, unfortunately.

As much as I'd like to see the timeout extended, if you extend the spar too long, then people end up having to wait for forever and a half. Maybe the spar can be unlimited unless people are in line for a spar? Sort of like the queue system, but more like saying "Hey, I would like to use the arena, so hurry up and finish." rather than "Hey, I'd like this sort of group arena event"/

I think it should stay open for 1 hour unless someone else tries to challenge, then it gives a 5 minute warning.

Can it be done so more then one group can spar at the same time?
Say Zenon and Fern wanted to spar and were yet I wanted to spar with Lehki if it can still be done so no waits in line and then the time can be pushed higher.

You mean like, instancing the arena? That sounds like a hell of a lot of work on the Admin's part.

I don't know what it's like in other places, but there is almost never a line for the Glade of Champions. I don't see it being a problem in Serenwilde, at least.

I like either the selectable spar length or the idea where there's a five minute warning if someone else wants the arena. People should get more time to spar if it's needed, but there might be cases when someone doesn't want an hour-long spar.

There should be an option to end a spar early. Some mutual agreement where the spar ends as a draw and you both exit again. For cases where you want to go in and test something quickly, but not sit around for 10 minutes waiting for it to time out, or cases where you get into the arena and someone starts raiding and you have a choice, kill one or the other quick and force them to redef, or wait 10 minutes for it to timeout.

It'd be cool if they implemented ARENA CONCEDE or something similar. After all, group arena events can already be canceled early by the whoever culture minister aide person who sets it up.

I have mixed fellings on this one, yeah it's annoying to time out but if you can't kill people in 10 minutes you're gunna have a hard time fighting outside the arena.

There have been 1vs1 duels in many of the IRE games, I am sure lusternia as well, that have that lasted well over 30 minutes. I think Geb was known for extremely long fights both in and out of an arena.
Not being able to kill someone in under 10 minutes is as much a factor of their skill as your own.

Reason why they never will: Arena deffing.
Not that the 10 minute timer really helps with that either, but yeah. They're not going to let people end it early.

Announce that going into the arena for putting up defenses with no cost is abuse and then shrub the ones who continue?
The only real offender that I ever knew was Amaru. Maybe Narsrim, too, but that was more to regain willpower/endurance.
