Who's the newb now!

Well, Chade and I raided before this and (aside from him walking us into Selene) we did ok. Ie, we killed a daughter or two and then fought off the 5-6 defenders. It was -really- fun. Despite the numbers I think it was a balanced, yet challenging fight, and that's really why I raided in the first place (and sat in Faethorn until Seren came to me to attack). Mag joined in and it got....less fun. Again, the core of the fight was in Faethorn/sometimes entering/exiting archway, so I'm not sure why it was this necessary group defense thing. We were already outnumbered by 4 more people than us pitiful two!

It's more like I don't bother to spend the effort since if I keep flowing you'll eventually just leave, and it (sort of) limits your chopping. If I try to walk to you, by the time I get there you'll have much more free time to chop things.

Just remember, it's not fun for us either if the Mags ruin a balanced fight between us!
So let's all just hate on the Mags.

You are aware the length of balance that comes from Chopping, yes? Plus you're able to NATURE BLEND which completely confounds my ability to see when you enter. There are a number of things you can utilize to trick me and pin me down long enough for the other Seren's to assist in pinning me down. It's happened before.

Hmm, kay. We'll see next time!

Why do they come, then? We assume you ask them to. If you don't, why aren't you saying GTFO?

Mags don't zerg.
That being said, it's easy to tell people you don't want there to leave. I've done it.
edit: They come because they see a deathsight and, much like a pack of hyenas, jump at the opportunity. As I said, the whole e-honor fair fight stuff that they preach so much is crap.

Because after all, 6 vs 3 is fair to Mag's.

Ok, so this has happened twice today alone. Enemies come to a fairly neutral-yet-still-cause-for-random-PK area, such as Faethorn. Really, the only reason they run around there is to have some fighting. That's fine. I want to scrap a bit, so I head in. 1 v 1. Immediately opponent runs off. It turns into a 2 v 2. That's still chill. We're set to go, let's have a fight. Nothing is at stake, nothing's being raided, enemies are just running around and we're using that excuse to chase them. In my head, both parties obviously know it's just an excuse for some random PK. Which is fun. Which is part of why we play.
Newp, apparently not. Suddenly our enemies depart and return with 3 more people in tow. Why? I am not trying to be sarcastic or snipey or anything. I am just honestly baffled why. If you initiate a disturbance in a fairly neutral area, that tells me you are in the mood for some random combat. Why suddenly come back with the zerg in full raid defence mode? As mentioned, nothing is at stake anyways. Your opponents have no reason to stay around and killing them doesn't achieve anything. Why suddenly turn a balanced fight into a "must kill at all costs" swarming?

Lulz.

Okay, so Urazial is now the king of kick-and-run raids. However, seconds before we went for Nienla in Faethorn, someone attacked Ladies and was gone the second I arrived, and my assumption was that Nienla had attacked and fled.
The more I get into fights like these, the easier it gets for me to accept the idea of going on the offense, something I've been against since day one.

What about Lehki? Or Ixion? There are plenty of other King candidates too.

You should. Though to be honest, I don't think this thread is to cry about kick and runs. But hey, Glomdoring's been dealing with it since it was made. I've gotten used to it. I'm sure you will too.
Quite simply, it is a part of the game. The mechanics support it by both skills and artifacts. Oh, you can try to take some moral high ground- which you do, but the bottom line is it's a game. Every side plays dirty, but then every side likes to claim some virtue. And then again, we have people who don't do a single thing in game but instead use the forums to finger point.
EDIT: I think you are also forgetting the Magnagorans who did the exact same thing but through the magic power of pixie dust are now protecting Serenwilde.
Unknown2009-11-02 23:35:42
I haven't forgotten what Magnagora was doing to us before the war with Glomdoring. I'm quite glad they're not doing it to us any more, and I only accept their assistance occasionally because I'd rather work with everyone than against everyone.
I'm glad you pointed out that each side sees things from their own perspective, too. I think that's the reason I've only ever been on the defensive, so as not to turn into the griefers I so often dislike. From my perspective, Lehki chops down your trees because you chopped ours down, but how should I know who really started all that? You see him as a kick-and-run griefer, but at least you had plenty of people around when he did it, right?
How many of you check who's online using that stupid web page before you decide to come in and "raid" the other side, I wonder?

Nope. Lehki kicks and runs when there's nobody around, too. Otherwise he often doesn't even get to the kick part, just the enter / leave / enter / leave / enter / leave spam.
(I also have never checked the website to see who is online. Ever.)

I don't. Hence how I run into the crush of Seren defense. But even if someone were to do so it wouldn't mean anything given that a great many people just im somone via whatever messenger.
Ah, and as to plenty of people being around, I do it no matter the current population. I've also stopped when asked by a Serenwilder, but there you go. Manners go a long way.

The only thing I get from this thread before it inevitably gets locked because we can't play nice is that you all should buy my map if you have scent. Then you can chase without flow!

Or, you can make your own map free of charge! Really, Serenwilde isnt that big. And scent with a map is great for chasing!

I think 15 cr isn't that hard to scrounge up
Plus there's Rika's map, go find that, should be mostly good still.
