Boy, your memory really, really sucks. You should get a doctor to look into that for you. Until you do, I'd advise not talking about the past.
I don't know what Zarquan may or may not have complained about, but my complaints are a matter of public record and date back even to the time when Narsrim was doing to Glomdoring what you and Nienla try to do to Serenwilde now, back when Glomdoring was newborn. Sorry, sweetie, you've picked the wrong guy.

I hear these accusations of such terrible things I've done, or attempt to do. Yet I don't hear any specifics. I've cut down three elders at bare maximum, kill a denizen, and attack Serenwilders. I've had the chance to cut down more elders, but I've not done so out of restraint. Other than that, I really don't know what horrible things I've done or tried to do.
Unknown2009-12-11 03:20:13
Yeah, Nienla is relatively restrained for the most part. She has her moments, but it's not the "holy crap don't you have anything in the entire world, game or real life, better to do than trivial, obnoxious harassment and gloating?" that we get from those select few I am guaranteed to see one of regardless of when I log in.

Stop it.
Lorina2009-12-11 05:29:28
Aye, griefing is something that I think we can never really control, though the insanity on enemy planes helped a little. It just caused raids to not last for a few hours. The only thing I could think of is if the people come to an agreement on what is too much. Sometimes, you have to actually talk to the cityleader to ask people to back off a little.

Don't let any CR3 use guild-nexus (Discretionary) power. Bad idea. Somebody gets mad at Seren, burns 20k in discretionaries in all the villages before leaving; only CR3, not security... Ugh, I can see it already.
Allow security to do so? Fine by me. The only ability I can think of that'd be used at double power is liveforest/flux, although I suppose surge might be used as well (if we ever kept ladies alive long enough to surge them). Just don't give it to anybody with CR3. Even Serenwilde has at least one person around that can use guild nexus powers at a given time... there's no reason to let raging and/or new players accidentally or intentionally burn a lot of power.
I think the raiding-curbs have been effective. The griefing still exists, and the solo hit-and-run raids still exist, but large-scale raids have scaled back. So, kudos for the large-scale (read: Avatars always dead) problem-solving. Small-scale is more delicate, but that's usually manageable IC.

You want to spend power on something that's only purpose is to produce power so that during the brief times that they are vulnerable normally, they can't be destroyed?
Well, yes. Communes could establish laws that would only allow the use of this defense/power when there is a large number of totems that reverted into elders, let's say 20 or more. You see, two weaves ago, Ixion took down at least 20 elders(although the actual number exceeds that).

Or the Power Minister/Commune/City Leadership can allow certain individuals the commune/city privilege to do so. They can make a list of the trustworthy people who are usually around during off-peak. My idea was only intended to be used when there are very few people around (i.e. offpeak)
Unknown2009-12-11 07:06:29
I agree, totems should just stop producing power and not revert.

But there has to be something that would distinguish power-producing totems from defunct-ones, if this is to be implemented

Just make it power aide + security. This would make both roles more meaningful, since some discretionaries suck (sorry, but the bardic is pretty so-so), some guilds don't really have much role (ie, bardic one-off purchase guards), and powerlog summary makes power aide not really have work anymore, and you get it pretty much just to check up on your own contributions. (not that I'm dissing the summary. It's purdy).

Warrior guilds got the shaft on the discretionary power. Has anyone ever actually used it?
Shiri2009-12-11 13:04:03
We used it a couple times 4-5 years ago, then realised it was awful. Also Shikha used it on us once, causing us to kill the guards anyway while she went to find 30 or so more. I can only assume the monk one is just as bad. At least it's there to look pretty though.

Yespls. Although, could we have more options for getting power other than Faethorn (shared), Elemental Planes (organization territory), or organizational Ethereal (dependent on influencing fae)? Make organizational Ethereal respawn independent of influenced fae, or some such.

Villages, domoths, culture, quests... any of this ringing any bells?

While we're at it, let's allow crow/stag users to rune and activate totems adjacent to their bonded totem.

These are power sources everyone can get, too. I was thinking of something that's specific to a commune, like how angels, demons, and elemental planes are in city territories.
Unknown2009-12-11 23:31:00
Well, we have the fae, and a handful of essence dropping creatures in the ethereal forests. Can fae still be converted to imps/cherubs for power?

The fae are shared by everyone (Serenwilde considers it a primary source of power, Celest and Magnagora can convert them for power, too). The essence-dropping creatures in the Ethereal forests are dependent on how much you influence fae, so, if there are no fae, there are no essence-dropping creatures.
Gregori2009-12-11 23:47:27
That handful of essence dropping creatures is only a result of bringing fae to the avatars. They don't spawn on their own like the elemental plane creatures, which I think is what Alacardael was trying to say.

I'd really like if we could view the summary for weaves other than the current. If we can, I'm just too stupid to have figured it out yet.
