Great game so far. I'm not very far into it, I'm mostly just making the topic for this:
Made me lol really hard, solely because I had the same kind of 'ok wtf is this' reaction when I got the 'Hang on a sec (download DLC now)' dialogue option in the game.

DnD online does that nicely I think. You can accept the mission, but you can't start it cause you can't access the dungeon. It's also really sneaky against people who can't handle having things on a list that arn't checked off.

if you get the delux version it comes with all the optional content

Playing and enjoying currently.
Also, google Dragon Age Journeys. Great flash RPG, great length, lets you unlock 3 items in the normal game.

Not too fussed on the mage specs, I really wish there were different options cause I can't pick what to match with what (don't want blood magic, my character wouldn't go there) Picked up shapeshifting just for times when I'm alone and there were no other options at the time.

Was a good one. Some of the story lines are epic in it, Dwarf in particular. Pewpew'd that Archdemon with Reaver/Berserker/Dual Weapon spec.

Playing it and enjoying it. Great game, few bugs and glitches that are kinda weirding me out, nothing major, but sometimes I see the same cut scene twice, the second time being broked.
And Arcane Warrior mage spec=win. Turns your magic stat into strength for items. I'm a fully armored mage. So awesome.
Anyway, one of the few games I'll probably play through multiple times because I enjoyed it. (Another being Mass Effect, go figure.)

Well, it's one of those games where the second play-through can actually be almost fully unique. Only bug that consistently pissed me off was the inventory crash bug.

Is the $70 package worth it?

Depends on how big you are on collector's edition stuff. You get a disc with the regular kinds of CE stuff. Making of, concept art, some wallpapers. There's also a 'strategy video', but I have no idea what exactly that entails.
Then there's a pretty cool little cloth map. Nice little addition, but not very useful. Then you get 1 of the available DLC's, which nets you Shale, who is an awesome character. Entirely unsure of how much that is, probably 10 bucks. Then some free items, the most useful of which is a set of armor which is probably the best available (and awesome looking).
So if you're only interested in the DLC, would cost less to just grab the game. But if you're like me and a sucker for collector's editions, then it's worth it.

If I'm only going to buy 1 game this year, is this one worth buying? Caues the website is horrendous.

How are you going to ask that question and expect any kind of reasonable answer?
You know your gaming preferences, I don't. So my answer is just going to be 'Yes' and it doesn't mean a thing.

I bought the digital deluxe off steam for 66 bucks, it had Shale and Warden Keep (both DLC's) included. Supposedly includes the bonus cd stuff but I didn't download it.

Are you just saying yes for the heck of it, or did you enjoy the game and find it worth it? Or perhaps did you enjoy the game, but would have rather waited for it to hit bargain bin status?
Merik2009-11-10 22:21:19
I am still enjoying the game. I don't know what it is, but Bioware games have always had the added effect of making me want to immediately start a second playthrough. This one is no different. It was well worth the money I spent on it. But a lot of games came out this year, and there were a lot of great ones among them, so I can't say with assurance that if I could only choose one game this entire year to buy, that Origins would be it.
Desitrus2009-11-10 22:52:09
If you are buying ONE game in the next 12 months I'd wait for D3 or SC2 as they will have the most replay.
Merik2009-11-10 23:01:42
And probably less buggy.
Romero2009-11-11 00:22:18
Playing through as a human noble warrior. I made the mistake of going sword and shield not knowing your first companion is sword and shield. So I played through with low damage up until Lothergrin or whatever the place is called. Restarted and went duel wielder and found out I get some decent aoe.

Are those finally coming out? I think I've been waiting roughly 3 years for those already.
