3. Druidic saplock - actually doable or impossible with slow eq?

I'm not sure how large your eq penalty is really, but you'll be chasing eq right after sap to lock them, and if they actually know how to cure sap or have a system that can handle it, you'll be chasing eq to keep them locked.

4. Druid demesnes - Hartstone v. Blacktalon - are they pretty similar? Being slowed with actives, I'd be relying on all the passive effects I can get pretty heavily laugh.gif, so... brief summation or linkages to relevant postings would be great <3 (or even just a general x is better because they have a billion better effects! - Never been a druid, and been away for ages so I can't recall which effects are uselessish)

Pollem: Asthma
Spores: Confusion/Stupidity/Dementia
Swarm: Paralysis
Treelife: Pull into trees
Treebane: Active, but affliction is a focus spirit cure with a passive effect, if in trees will drop to ground elevation and break random number of limbs.
Thorns: Minor bleeding if in the trees
Storm: Electric damage

Hartstone have
Squirrels: Minor blunt damage and bleeding, sometimes amnesia
Pathtwist: If they walk out of a room with a pathtwist, they might end up pulled through and dropped at the other end, entangled and off balance.

Blacktalon have
Murder: Blind/Blacklung/I think cutting damage?
Spiders: Freeze/Clumsiness/Sensitivity

5. Druid Totem Specializations - Crow v Stag? Does Dark Rebirth work at Demi? How useful are Gore/Swoop? The passives granted: Stag seems more defensive while Crow... does it have any passive curing? How hard is it to upkeep carrion in nests? How limiting is carrion on skill usage?

Stag is definitely a very defensive skill set, though stag stomp is pretty cool. If you're outside your demesne fighting you'd probably be spamming Gore or some tet skill.

6. RP - how formal or strict are each of the druid/wiccan guilds? (i.e. /kick+berate due to "Hi!" instead of "". And I guess, inguild friendliness or aloofness? Anyone able to put them in a rough order?)

Hartstone are pretty formal at the moment.

Pretty formal, but not of the type that you get shot down if you're informal. It's more of a status quo kind of formality.

I meant to say informal actually. x,x

DarkRebirth does work at demi, and wonderfully so. It even works on Ascendants, I think. Carrion upkeep is pretty much something you can ignore these days, and really, if you're not going to fight, you're not going to be using your body's carrion at all. The only "upkeep" you have to do is make sure your bond with your totem doesn't dissolve every 12 IG months.

From my experience, MD and HS are pretty informal, BT is formal when necessary but otherwise laidback (as laidback as Glommies are allowed to be) and don't really call each other by titles (except towards the guild leaders), and the SD are like formality to the extreme.

7. Trade: Never wandered around in Glom much - what does the herb growth situation look like over there? This might sound a bit strange but... herbs DO grow normally in Glomdoring with the Wyrd, right? What about tradebans (I'm assuming they can't trade with well, any other nation =S)?

We have very diligent herbalists in Glom so it's usually full of plants. As Alacardael said, trade is banned with those outside of Glomoring, but... you know how things are... the black market thrives even in Glomdoring.

Along these lines, I've been able to find a Glom merchant for every tradeskill except for the ones communes can't have anyway.

As usual, though, enchanters will hide from you like a baby and the plague (I still <3 you Nott, but we're on different timezones sad.gif )
Saran2009-11-22 19:06:30
I'd probably be avoiding switching to either druid guild until after the special report for magi/druids is done, that way you can see how they will play rather than switching and having it all change on you a few days later.

Also I didn't notice it mentioned but keep in mind the need to forest, meld and sapling locations. It wouldn't be much of an issue when you are alone with time for setting up but the penalties may make retaining/taking control more difficult. I might switch to tae'dae and get you some times.
Harkux2009-11-22 19:11:37
I'll answer what I can dry.gif...Not that it's a whole lot....

3. Druidic saplock - actually doable or impossible with slow eq?

Sorry to say, impossible. I struggle pulling them off as a human, having been used to being a furrikin for so long, with the really nice EQ bonus.

4. Druid demesnes - Hartstone v. Blacktalon - are they pretty similar? Being slowed with actives, I'd be relying on all the passive effects I can get pretty heavily laugh.gif , so... brief summation or linkages to relevant postings would be great <3 (or even just a general x is better because they have a billion better effects! - Never been a druid, and been away for ages so I can't recall which effects are uselessish)

Lehki already got this for me...

Though I feel the need to point out Scarab (BT, passive anorexia over a few tics for 5p) and Darkseed (HS, passive entangle over a few tics for 7p). Darkseed sucks something horrible, cough.

I have a motto when it comes to gore... 'When in doubt, and not in 1 on 1, whore gore.' It's, imo, one of the more useful abilities. Stagtotem is passive curing for yourself and allies over 5 minutes or so. Swoop is, I would think, a lot easier to actually pull off, as you'll have wiccans from the SDs working for mana drains around you, Truecaw, Haegl if you go runes, ect.

6. RP - how formal or strict are each of the druid/wiccan guilds? (i.e. /kick+berate due to "Hi!" instead of "". And I guess, inguild friendliness or aloofness? Anyone able to put them in a rough order?)

Not sure about other guilds, per say, but the HS aren't too strict on formalities as we could be. We implemented a title-system, but we don't enforce it too forcefully. We do very much appreciate them, as it's respectful and all that. But, if you forget to call me Hierophant, or Selskia Keeper, we aren't going to claw at your throat and curse your first born. We're pretty lax, partially because of a people-shortage... I get estatic if I see more than just me, Fern, and Lehki online. :/ We're pretty much a dead guild, but from what I understand, the Hartstone have always been that way...just not this bad.
Unknown2009-11-22 21:07:24
I've been learning how to stick sap over the past couple of weeks, and it's tricky enough (less tricky depending on the archetype I'm fighting) to pull off for a tritrans druid with no eq penalty and a level 3 balance bonus (helps with Runes and some Crow abilities). With a level 3 penalty in both, you're not going to be saplocking anyone but novices no matter which tertiary skill you choose. If you reaaaally want to be a tae'dae caster, be a telepathic mage or, failing that, a 'dancer. Moondancer if you want to be unkillable, Shadowdancer if you want to have a stronger offense and be on the current winning side.

Shhhhhh.
Raeri2009-11-22 23:18:48
Hmm... apparently the Stag facepaints aren't directly linked to the bonus/penalties, and would drop drop one of my eq/bal down to the equivalent of a lv4 penalty mellow.gif Oh, do Gore users still get their antlers stuck upon impale? I hear they used to, but didn't followup on any changes which may have happened.

And... from earlier in the thread, referring to Healing:

QUOTE
Hmm... how often do the auras tick? How much does the health one heal (scroll-like, sparkle-like or sip-like?)
How exactly do aurawarp/bedevil work? Are they curable via allheale, and can they be worked around?
Unknown2009-11-22 23:25:22
Aurawarp periodically halts all curing. So, you won't be healed of afflictions when you eat or sip cures for a bit, then you'll be able to again, then not... similar to scarab, I think. You have to leave the room to avoid it, as it only goes away with time.
Zallafar2009-11-22 23:27:22
As a SpiritSinger with Glamours, these keep reafflicting after you give them:

Colour maelstrom: dementia, dizziness, epilepsy, damage, paralysis, recklessness, stupidity
RainbowPattern: mental ailments and psychic damage (I don't have a list)
HypnoticPattern: takes away eq

And in your song:
Blue Moon: slows focus balance
Stone Mists: slows herb balance
Fae Ditty: takes away eq
Ancient Curse: lethargy, weakness, paralysis, or confusion
Ancient Feud: damage

EDIT: changed terminology
Unknown2009-11-23 01:21:34
Wane will be useless to you since quicksilver takes only 5 sec to reactivate. Your eq will probably be longer than that. And with Healer you won't be able to strip speed under blackout.
Raeri2009-11-23 11:48:36
Hmm... *takes a look at the various bardy specs*

What affects the effectiveness of the illusions/glamours skillset? Int? Cha? Or a mixture?

Speaking of which... is there anywhere druid demesne can't be made?

The Elemental and Cosmic planes, I believe, unless the HGZ ritual whatsit is in effect.
