Changing guilds. SG->BT/HS/SD/MD?

Alrighty, it's been a while since I posted. I've pretty much decided to stay in Seren for now. Obviously the more skills learned, the more effective I'd be - but what would be considered minimums in terms of guild/common skills needed for combat (I'm currently Trans Knighthood, Trans Moon, Adept(?) Athletics, with a couple of spare lessons left over, so can't tri-trans, or at least right away...)? My current choices are between SS and MD. HS seems to be having issues, and regarding MD...

I do.
I can't tell how serious you are regarding the whole "discriminate against Stormcrows" thing, but if you are, considering you're the current GC, I probably could expect some if I joined. Which would eventually result in another guildhop (probably to SD to save lesson loss... not to mention the Glom side of the family wub.gif is all like "come2glom ^^")... Most people probably wouldn't care what family Raeri's in, but really though, should I be expecting issues? blackeye.gif

Anyhow, between SS and MD, what's generally considered more 'tanky'? SS would get the annoying acrobatics dodge, though if the dex would make it suffer, I can't tell. I don't think I've met any low-dex bards. MD would get extra resistances? How useful are maiden/mother/sprite fae?

tl;dr version - Minimum required guild skills for combat, for SS and MD are...? mellow.gif

I don't know if dexterity affects dodging or not. The Wiki doesn't say it does.

If dexterity is an issue, Acrobatics has 'limber' which increases dexterity (by 2 in my case). And you can shrink your size down to gain dex since your strength wouldn't be helping you much anyway.

Hmm... (wow I'd be losing a lot of lessons sleep.gif) I suppose I might as well ask - would I be noticing much difference with higher Athletics or a different spec? ( Forgot there were different knighthood specs, somehow. PB atm )

A different spec would have pretty different tactics, so that's the easiest way to try something new. You're still using the basic abilities of a warrior, however, so it may or may not be different enough for you. I mean, maybe you were jealous of the passive effects of a bard or the destructiveness of a proper kata form...

i only really read this page and the first page. But if you want to stay tae'dae I'd say moondancers are out since they use wane. SD can work would ideally need to be hexes since hexes has a speed buff. Then either druid guild is fine if you are just aiding in defense.

For Spiritsingers,, you'd probably want trans glamours/ecology (Maze/Maelstrom), and need trans wildarrane. Acrobatics isn't as big (as far as I can tell), since the best/most-used abilities are contort, springup, and somersault, which are at Master 0% or lower.
Raeri2009-12-03 13:10:16
Does transing glamours increase the effectiveness of colourburst, maelstrom, patterns (i.e. number or chance of colour effects, damage)? Likewise, does transing wildarrane increase song effectiveness or damage?
Zallafar2009-12-03 13:19:23
The more skill in Wildarrane, the longer your song lasts. I.e. you need to refrain less often, and so use up fewer equilibriums in combat.

The wiki doesn't list any other increasing effect for more skill in Wildarrane or Glamours.
Unknown2009-12-03 13:31:57
Glamours abilities do more afflictions/damage when your victim is not blind.

I guess since we're adding little tidbit by little tidbit, higher Glamours makes it harder for someone to dispel your illusions.

And also let you dispell others' illusions more easily!

My understanding of how being unblinded affects glamours

colourburst, colourspray and colourmaelstom - double the afflictions and increased damage

hypnoticpattern - hits more often

rainbowpattern - does more damage

deadlypattern - adds a decent stun

Training up Wildarrane also reduces how quickly you lose spirits as you move.
Raeri2009-12-04 06:15:20
Yay for tidbits! wub.gif

Thanks, everyone! happy.gif

Also, is there a limit to what deadlypattern can strip if blindness is up (or down)?

EDIT: For SS, is there any advantage in going Ecology over Glamours?
