Aethercraft

I heard from someone that the forum for aethercraft was down/not used, so I thought I would post here.

I've found that people 1) Do not want to siphon due to less experience
2) Do not learn up to siphon (perhaps to avoid siphoning)

This is really frustrating, as someone has to siphon and those who siphon lose their aether willpower for half the gain of everyone else. I understand people do not want less experience, but losing aether willpower for less gain is seriously not fun or balanced. There has to be a way to gain experience for being the active siphoner, since ones capacity to turret or empath is affected afterwards.

To do this I think the following may be possible:
1. Lower siphoning in aethercraft so it's on par with battle
2. Increase base siphon xp or have ship nominate active siphon module for increased experience

Please post if you agree or have any ideas. I can't be the only one who thinks siphoning has issues.

I would siphon if my attempts at siphoning didn't result in near death experiences. sad.gif

This is a good idea.

I agree. When a creature is summoned from a vortex, have some sort of tag on it behind the scenes which notes which siphoner called it, and have it award the full experience to that siphoner upon death rather than the current half.

Agree (with Ishant). ^

So far problem has been managed by preventing spread of this damaging information and the arrest and intimidaton of dissidents who do so. ninja.gif

You only get half experience while siphoning? O_O
Unknown2009-11-24 02:13:45
I get .13-.14% experience per Forestal Gargantuan while on a turret or empath grid, and about .7% per while on an energy collector or the anchor module.

you mean .07% right?

.7% > .13-.14%

Psh, aetherfarers clan has settings I've made for nexus, zmud, mush and lua, and I've sat and walked people through implementing and sorting out any issues they have. I've put hours in teaching people how to do siphoning, so messing up isn't an excuse unless you've sat with me and tried it out. tongue.gif

I really would like to see some adjustment made to siphoning, as, even with multiple scripts made and time invested in teaching people, it's like pulling teeth to get people willing to do it. Furthermore, it's not fair for them - siphoning requires more work than turreting, in that you have to keep track of beast numbers, and deal with more spam, so it takes me a lot longer to walk someone through a siphoning setup than it does a turret.

Siphoning's xp gain is probably less because other people can sit on the siphon as backup hunters and get xp - both the ideas to address this are nice, either for one active siphoner, set by the ship's pilot (probably easier to implement) or for xp based on who's pulled the beast.

Ah, yes, otherwise I'd be level 95 by now.

I usually have people only manual, 1 at a time. I've had waaaaay too many near-death to death experiences from people autoing and then AFKing. Should've issued their asses.

I'd have to look through it again, honestly. The first time I tried using it turned out badly, remember?

I like the 'designated siphoner' idea. I'm usually stuck siphoning when I go, because I have the ability... lowering siphon might also help with the problems.

Another way to handle it is to have just the pilot (who usually can code) keep track of beast numbers and have siphoners trigger off your SHIPT Siphonwhenever.

You had triggers from Ethelon's system, not my settings.

Also, triggering off shipt is even harder, to be honest, for most people, because you have to deal with ( and ".

I've had both do it. It's been awhile, I more or less just turned my system off and gave up at that point.

It's reinstalled now, next time we go for an abash, I'll definitely ask about sorting it out to ensure it's in working order.

Yeah, just lemme know and we can work through it. More siphoners = longer bashes!

Oh you can't be worse than me. I'm the only person in Aetolia who's bug list has a MORE option.
