All aethercraft XP should be nerfed by half or more. It's just absurd. gtfo easy path to demi buttons, learn to get it the hard way like the rest of us had to.

I kinda gotta agree. It only took Sadhyra what, three days? (From Titan to Demigod, of course.)

Oh you can't be worse than me. I'm the only person in Aetolia who's bug list has a MORE option.
Wait, so does that make you the bug queen?

Sadhyra did other forms of bashing too, plus she aetherhunted alot. By the suggestion it is too easy one could argue that those who tried to exploit the xp changes from Covens had it too easy also.
I don't think the admin want aethercraft being disused either. The current balance as I understand it, is viewed as being fine, not excessive and encouraging people to use one of the more unique features of Lusternia. Should it go far to what it was pre-changes it could once again be wasted lessons. I also think it helps encourage newbies to want to learn aethercraft and go out. It is more the older players who try and exploit it.

Bear in mind, to be able to aetherhunt as long as I did requires very high willpower and a LARGE group of people to rotate around as crew - to get a crew like that, you have to invest in heavy ship upgrades for extra modules (nobody wants to sit as reserve for an hour if they aren't getting xp) and beg, barter or steal to get crew members. I bribed half of the Glomdoring into become aetherjunkies by giving them the credits to learn up to basic skills, and then walking them through setup and learning the skills - including all the fun scenarios that makes, like 15 beasts summoned, spammed out empath not curing, gunners dropping ruptures on our own route...
Those of you saying the xp is too high - have you actually tried leading a hunt? How about one that goes for more than an hour (since it's when you're hunting for 4-5 hours on end that you're seeing the "absurd" xp mentioned). Do you know how feasible it is to get the 10-20 people required for extended hunting? Try it out and then come back to comment.

Heh, I was online for about 48 hours straight to get the final stretch. A good 8-10 hours of that was on astral, because there weren't enough people online to even consider an aetherhunt. After that, I probably (with rotations) managed to get about 20 hours of aetherbashing with various breaks and so on. 30 hours of ANY bashing is going to see you shoot up in xp.Unknown2009-11-24 23:10:58
Uh huh. Yeah.
Unknown2009-11-24 23:22:50
This isn't meant as an attack or anything, but haven't you been Titan for...like a year? I dunno how in-touch you are with current xp and bashing rates. You can't discount the benefit things like achievements, harmony, facebook bonus and double xp weekend had on my quick xp gain - the final day, I was running at like 300% xp or more.
Unknown2009-11-25 00:19:25
I was 90+ for a couple years, mostly because I had better things to do than grind my way to glory, but I was only Titan for a couple months. I get a couple hours a day tops to play, so I get jealous of people who stack the hell out of the bonuses and don't sleep for two days.
Merik2009-11-25 00:23:52
They could make solo bashing xp not suck so hard.

Heh, I got back to Lusternia after achievements were added with 77% of Titan finished. I stacked XP bonus' until I had 450% from achievements and harmony/human then got the last 23% of Titan in less than 2 hours Fun times.

In my defence, it was a weekend, and I was just like, ugh, I want to finish this. Also, not all of us bashing people do just that! Some of us are guild leaders or ministers or whatnot. That's why I like aetherbashing, because it's a group activity, and a great way to get younger people involved in the org.

It's funny... I always wondered why I was not only given credits to learn aetherhunting up to siphon, but why I was also invited so quickly to siphon for everyone, not to mention getting personal instruction on how to do such a prestigious job. I must say I actually believed it was because people genuinely wanted me to grow faster and become a useful member of our combat teams in some more expedient fashion. Only now to find out it was to avoid themselves getting stuck doing the lame job with crappy returns. Oh, how my childish naivety aches after spending time around you all.
Of course, the alternative to this would have been me not doing training at all, hehe, so as far as I'm concerned I still come out 100% on top for being used. Better then sitting about on my butt not training. Thank you all for helping me to do the crappy job that is worlds better then my alternate activity.

Eh, don't be so jaded. I'm demi, remember? Yet I still lead abashes nearly every day, and it's not because I enjoy the epilesy-inducing spam of aetherspace - orgs work together to help each other, and that means helping boost smaller members up the level ladder.
Unknown2009-11-25 01:26:52
Anyways, lots of tangents, but the initial ideas are still good ones, I think: make the active siphoner (through whatever method is decided on) get equivalent xp to other active roles. Also, could the willpower drain please be looked into? Siphon is by far the most draining, pilot actually regenerates wp, empath is pretty miniscule and turrets are about right.
Unknown2009-11-26 05:58:25
The XP for Aetherbashing is fine. You need at least 5 people to Aetherbash effectively. Compared to 1 person to go normalbashing. It's only logical that you would get significantly more XP.
Unknown2009-11-26 20:05:18
Siphoning might not be worth as much experience as the other aethership roles, but it's still much easier experience than bashing. You're not exactly being exploited.
e: instead of having the siphoner gain more experience upon the creature's death, how about a small experience gain with each siphon? Though I guess this could be abused in a fast enough ship.

Sure, more incentive for people to abandon the smaller orgs and join the larger orgs.

Not really. Everyone has enough people to Aetherbash.
