A resemblence to the emoticon, or what?

Probably the wrong place to do this. But would you mind muches if I used that as a desktop background? It's so cute, and makes me think of a Romero and Juliet thing with a Nekotai and Hartstone
@Pectus: Feel free to. Also, a funny coincidence, this piece was inspired roughly by a Finnish song telling the beautiful but slightly sad tale of an earthly gnome and a ray of light (or a sun-fairy). Just because I love this song, I am going to roughly translate the lyrics here. While I could -truly- translate the lyrics into a proper poem with a meter, that would probably change the message of the song and take an hour or two.
QUOTE
(Very free, slightly rushed translation by myself.)
Sun had gone down on his lands
yet the last sun-fae golden-winged stands
left behind by her sisters three
Dusk was slowly creeping over
the woods of towering trees;
she was just about to leave it all behind
when a small gnome came out from his cave,
all groggy and all dazed -
see, gnomes, they never come out before dusk,
they never walk the day.
With keen eyes they studied each other;
the dark gnome now experienced
a strange flame ablaze in his breast.
Said, "Oh fae, you burn my eyes,
yet you are the sweetest
thing I've seen!
Although your glow might very well blind me,
I know: it is nice to live in the dark.
Walk with me and to my cave I will lead the way
and take you as my loving bride."
The fae replied, "Oh dear, sweet gnome
the darkness soon will claim my life
and it is not death I wish to see.
Away from these woods must I soar at once;
will I not soon fly to light
I will not live to see another day!"
So left the beautiful sun-fae
but forevermore
when the gnome walks alone the night;
he wonders why some here are children of the light
and others can't help but to love the night.

Okay, fixed Lisaera and finished Eventru.

Lies, you're the god who sends His mice to people. I've been wanting to join your Order ever since you had that mini-event of yours at the cathedral a loooong time ago. What's holding me back now is the passive essence.
Dantes is evil. He hid my slippers the other day, malevolently, just as I put on my smoking jacket and got my copy of La Divina Commedia out of the bookcase. And the essence drain is circumventable, if you contribute I have no problem with a minor essence drain.

Eventru makes me think of a lion or Koss from Guild Wars but with blonde hair. Again, very lovely work. I can't wait to see Viravain/Shikari.

Well, Viravain's up next!
Oh, if anyone has Her desc somewhere, could you please post it here? I would like to check some things!

Another Deity to add into the series.
EDIT: I was informed that the head was slightly too small. Here it is, fixed.

I'm clearly going to need to spend some time playing around to decide how I want to crop this for a new avatar...

I'm glad you like it!

Viravain looks kind of really...manly... to me. And there's something not quite right with Eventru's beard, kind of like it was just tacked on. Elostian's is definitely still my favourite of these Divine profiles.

Is that what Elostian looks like in the game? I missed my one opportunity at looking at him before he disappeared again.

The Viravain one looks good, except the neck seems like it's just getting narrower where it shouldn't be. Agreed on the beard.

Unfortunately I am going to agree with kharaen. I think it still might be the head to me, not sure. She just looks very odd.

Upon looking at it again, as an addendum to the above, Viravain's head seems really small.

I don't think she does, but I can see where you two are getting that vibe. It is definitely the head - it's too small. Just compare it to the size of Eventru and Lisaera's, then consider we get shots of them that get them partially from the side instead of a direct frontal. This has the consequence of making her shoulders appear much broader than they really are, and the halo of full hair around her only serves to make the head feel even smaller.
Saaga2010-03-13 21:36:41
Some changes made on Viravain to address the possible problems. And as for Evie's beard, I like it personally. But could add in a bit of an outline or something. Elo's my favourite too, but his picture spawned this idea so it better be the model specimen.
Zalandrus2010-03-13 21:52:14
Still looks a bit manly to me. Maybe it's something with the hips/waist?
Agreed that Elostian looks awesome. The Lisaera one is cool too.

Well, I am quite content with her right now. I always thought Viravain had a tiny amount of Marilyn Manson-esque feel to her and it seems I cannot quite get over it when I draw her. I shall declare it the artist's view.
