May be a taaad bit biased here, but I don't really agree as my runic ability can only be used once from what my role reads and I'm more than willing to listen to the towns thoughts on who I should attempt to use my night ability on.

He wanted to lynch all the most powerful roles on the basis that they would be the worst to have as scum. Best case scenario: Shiri is an idiot. Worst case scenario: he's scum looking to cover lynching the most powerful roles. And I know Shiri is not an idiot.

Hmmmm.
Unvote Vote: Casilu.
I didn't want to lynch all the most powerful roles. Until I changed my mind (with no provocation other than figuring out it was a suboptimal strategy) I wanted to lynch the roles that were most dangerous if the scum had them. This is NOT the same set as the roles that would be most dangerous to the scum if the town had them. For example I don't believe I mentioned Kira, who can nullify all Kefka's work, because that power doesn't let the scum do anything untoward to the town. Similarly shadow's role is very useful to the town but does nothing on Ultros - it's nice on Kefka though as I figured out after. Same for watcher, doctor, etc.
On top of the fact I changed my mind, and unlike Daganev who kind of has a point (except the cause was that I was tired and not thinking too straight instead of scummy) this sounds like reaching to me.
Casilu2009-12-10 06:12:07
It's the same theory, Xavius is a man of the dice. Why would you even think that going after the most damage would be a good idea, even for a second? My vote stays, muffin.

Was it not idiotic of him to be so straightforward and abrupt about it if he is scum?

This is either self-contradictory or just straight up nonsensical, can't decide which you meant

Not really. Look at most of the games with Shiri, a large number of players follow his ideas without thinking on many occasions. When he is scum, the first person to always disagree with him on anything is Dagipoo. That's usually how it goes.
And muffin, let me simplify it, then. The same roles that could cause the most damage to the town could also cause the most damage to the scum. The doctor might accidentally protect one at night. Though, if any of the daykillers are scum, they're the least we have to worry about. We can see who they target and their reasons for doing so. Scum would be stupid to try and use one of the weird daykill abilities because we could judge them for it, muffin.

Your own example contradicts you. The doctor is a great example of how a role is way more useful to the scum than the town. All the scum being the doctor does is deprive of us the role, and if we play it stupid we won't examine their claims too closely (like happened in the last smalltown game, causing us to lose). There's no need for Kefka to protect someone from Ultros instead of killing them. Conversely a town doctor can be useful, protecting key roles that are "confirmed" by one of the watchers so town has a rallying point. It can also make the scum whiff, mostly at random.
The daykill abilities are useful on the scum because we can't be willing to just completely shut down that role, so they are able to exercise at least some judgement on the frequency and target of any killings, plus the ability not to target themselves obviously. At the very least they're MORE useful than the first set of roles because the scum can make the best of both of their roles within reason and tempered by the need to avoid town suspicion.

I think you can't read today because nothing you're mentioning has anything to do with what I said. I will simplify further then, muffin-head. The roles that could cause the most damage to the scum would be the worst for the scum to have. I've been referring to this post here:

I'm gonna Vote: Diamondais because of the three abilities it would be most awkward for scum to have, hers, Rika's and TIMDN (hereafter referred to as Siam) are the mostly obviously bad, keeping in mind Kefka can't use his powers alongside their nightpowers and Ultros probably can't by extension.
Given that we only have an arsonist and SK here, I think the odds are actually in our favour...I'll probably steal either Shadow's, Gogo's or Gau's skills depending on what day 1 looks like. I also may annoy the out of Kefka by copying Strago at some point during the game but I'll hold off on deciding when so he can struggle with knowing when would be a good time to get me out of the way.

It's more the day power than the night power that's useful on Celes. Blocking the aqua rake and maybe Umaro would be worth it in some cases, provided it's not called in the thread - the post doesn't say. And maybe Cyan and maybe Edgar (the latter of whom is kind of an unknown quantity atm, we'll have to see how that goes.)
Stealing wouldn't be worth it if I was scum because I'd have to waste two nights to do one action, none of which are really superior to dousing/munching on someone, although you could MAYBE make a case for Cyan). Romertien isn't as worth it because her input actually counts for less than Gau's and Gogo's. Her input is actually not worth much unless Gau or Gogo catch her investigating someone on a night 2 people die; the fact scum aren't - wait a minute, ARE the scum on the same team? The first post doesn't say, way too risky to assume they're not now that I think of it. That might change the valuation slightly. Naturally none of these things decide who the scum actually is, but I think Diamondais would be a safe bet. I'm also willing to go for Siam but I want to find out if the scum are aligned first because that changes the whole set of scum tells we're looking for.

You had enough sense to correct your idea only after Dag posted. You had enough sense to defend and explain your idea in a second post some 44 minutes later, but only two minutes after Dag called you out on it, your idea changed within two minutes. If you were in my position and you saw that combo, what would you think happened? And please answer without lying to me.

Daganev didn't "call me out" on anything in the quoted section you -just- posted...he was asking for clarification. In fact, Daganev didn't even call me out on it -afterwards-, he actually agreed with the position but thought I was scummy because I was trying too hard to sound town.
Also I was already in the process of typing that out when Daganev posted, but that fact isn't even needed here.
