I saw this two weeks ago in IMAX 3D. It. Was. Epic!! I agree with the above people who said that 3D + Movie = suckage, however I was pleasantly surprised to see that James Cameron used 3D for depth. Indeed, I felt like I was ACTUALLY there, watching everything live, which is a HUGE bonus for Cameron, because the visuals were THAT amazing. To see the floating mountains as the people were flying by... I had my mouth gaping open the entire time, they looked SO real!
The only bad part about the 3D was that, in some cases like in the Scientists Rooms where they melded their minds to the Na'vi, the actors looked flat against a normal, 3D background, though I think that's just a side effect of the visuals that you can't do anything about. It didn't detract from anything, but it was something I noticed.
The story was told tons and tons of times before, especially in Dances with Wolves, but that's probably a testament to the story for being one good enough to be told as many times. The Na'vi were interesting characters, very well designed and thought through. Very much Native American's with their similar culture, though found in the jungles, kinda. I give the story two solid thumbs up!
The only bad part about the movie was that the 3D made my girlfriend (who I dragged with me) sick, and she actually had to leave about 30 minutes before the movie ended because she was so ill. Indeed, we went back to her house, she kicked me out so she could sleep for the rest of the day to get the feeling back in her stomach! Poor girl...
Anyhow, I DEFINITELY recommend this movie to anyone, and say that you either see it in IMAX 3D if you're able to handle 3D effects, which I now know some can't! xD
And if you can't take the 3D, at LEAST see it in IMAX. HD is the greatest thing ever made, and even the blatant "Initializing the best experience of your life!" thing before the movie was kick ass!

I FINALLY saw this on Saturday. Imax 3d version. Very awesome.
Also, it's mind blowing that in about 31 days, Avatar has grossed over 1.6 billion dollars. That is insane.

What's truly insane is that people are still being advised to pre-order tickets if they want to get into the show.

Our IMAX still sells out the day before. Every. Single. Time.

The question though is, which one is he neck deep in? The hookers, or the coke?

He? You're not refering to Sigourney Weaver, are you...?

I'm referring to anyone with a cut of the profits in general.
