I'm a fan of the three-section staff for Hallifax and nunchucks or two knives for Gaudiguch.. but that will be very, very, very, very long from now, so really..
Aerotan2009-12-21 21:57:17
Seren already does the two knives.

I want twin hooks somewhere.

I know the rat to lizard/pigeon thing is only tiny and cosmetic.. but I just love that you guys actually cared enough to do it.
I wholeheartedly second this. A trivial thing on the design agenda, takes significant time, adds tons of atmosphere.
Jalain2009-12-21 22:16:44
How about a cinder block attacked to a chain...
I like the idea of using hooks.. Or police batons.. or a Meteor Hammer.. ooh.. Or a butterfly sword..
Or maybe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kusarigama ...

Jakari are basically meteorhammers.

Why do i feel like somehow, there is going to be a situation today where I need yellow and I won't have it
Arix2009-12-21 23:11:18
I like the idea of Hallifax and Gaudiguch not having monks and bards for a long time, and people being happy with the three original guilds for each city, IE the ones the histories actually mention
Jules2009-12-21 23:16:17
The histories might mention just having 3 guilds per civilization, but history is written every day. With all the new people flocking to Hallifax and Gaudiguch, Roleplay wise, they will bring the knowledge that they have acquired over their lives in other guilds, so there MUST be Monk/Bard guilds entering into these new cities. The mechanics will probably take a while, and some RP will need to be made to explain the Illithoids/Kephera teaching the cities Kata, and also the denizens learning magically to sing.
It's gonna happen. You can cry, whine, and plead as much as you want, but in the end, it's going to happen.
Deal with it.
On a separate note, Hallifax monks should use crystal Sai's, while Gaudi monks should use obsidian Knuckles. Drunken fighting ftw!

I think the Gaudi monks should use twin hooks. If I joined the Ninjakari for a while, I could give Gaudi the benefit of my experience.

Yet someone was asking if they had studied kata in hallifax

Two things
first people aren't saying they will never have them they are happy because with the planned implementation it will be a gradual process, The third guild is not expected til like... april unless the orgs really get the power flowing and then they need to have events to introduce the new guilds which if we estimate two months per guild will leave each city waiting til August for their final guild. Which will also likely mean that the rest of the orgs won't loose as many players immediately,
Second crystal and obsidian would suck majorly, reforging?

Yiro2009-12-21 23:54:07
I find it rather funny that you have a good chunk of the player base who despise monks, then you have the other chunk who wants them to no end. It is actually kind of sad to see people so hyped about a guild that won't exist for a long time, if ever. Be hyped about the dang mages people and joining the cities, screw the monks!

You assume you can make Bards out of just knowledge. Where are their fragments of the song? There are none. There can be no bards in the new cities.
As for monks, have the Kephera or Illithoid been spotted using weapons other then Tahto, Shofa, Nekai and Jakari?
Aerotan2009-12-22 00:07:56
Yes. Blowguns and darts.
Rodngar2009-12-22 00:16:03
No, but the absence of such things means nothing in IRE - where typically, a new class or skillset is unveiled as a 'lost art from a small society that went in to hiding' or something like that. Also, even old disciplines can evolve to adapt new pieces. A brand new style could be born that the two cities could really go for. Honestly, I'm thrilled (ecstatic!) for Aeromancy and Pyromancy, moreso than any other class or skillset that has come out in Lusternia. I'm giving up my favorite class in the game (Nekotai) potentially to become an Aeromancer, in fact.
I have no problem with Monks. I'm just a big fan of speculation.

Be a Pyromancer! I have something I need incinerated.

It doesn't interest my better half, so I regrettably can't. Aeromancy is pretty cool anyways. :3
