Meh, I don't like it but what can you do? I like Cririk in general, but this is a really bad idea. He's basically saying no to anyone who would rather PK than write books.

So here's what you do. When Vathael and crew show up on Air, doff your hats and sit on Prime. IF Cririk asks you to go defend, invite him to come with you to defend his home.
Veyrzhul2010-01-07 23:00:56
I don't see a problem, it's not as if you need anything above cr1 to fight. It sucks for revolts, but that's it. And if you can't live with it at all, assassinate him in some dark corner of the city...

Just as I write this:

Cririk has been burned to death by Vathael Valtyros, the Crimson Holocaust.
You see the death occur at Matrix Research Institute.

Tihihii...

I feel like some of you might be misinterpreting Cririk and the Caste Articles. They pretty much say you can make it to CR4 on the merits of your awesome might at defending and PK and if you want to go further than that, you are going to have to put the time in to RP being more than someone who can kill people. Writing a book/giving a lecture isn't all that difficult especially when it has been suggested (at least on the Aero newsboard) that you can write about Aeromancy (woah!). If your character isn't intelligent enough to be able to talk coherently about combat strategy, fundamentals of war, or even (gasp!) something besides fighting, it makes absolutely no sense to get above CR4 in a city based on arts and science. CR4 is not a bad rank to be at, and if you aspire higher, make an effort?
Xavius2010-01-07 23:01:40
I see Cririk online right now. Gaudi could help the cause by, say, teleporting and frying his crystalline arse.

EDIT: And ninja'd by Gaudi actually doing it. Nice.

You tell Cririk Adom, "I don't need to hear extraneous facts regarding what process is classified under what category, Senator. I do not believe my contribution makes this world go around, but I believe that if you continue to fail to reward those that defend your territory, you will find you will have nobody to, in fact, defend it. People can only go on for so long without being appreciated for the effort they apply daily, weekly, and monthly to the holdings of your city. With nobody left to defend the Commonwealth, I'm not sure how long you will be capable of promoting the higher ideals supported by the city - you know, what with being under the oppressive foot of Gaudiguch and all?"

Cririk jerks slightly as the air fills with sparkling motes of bright light.
4500h, 4090m, 3879e, 10p, 18800en, 18800w esSixb-

A subtle increase in illumination heralds the entrance of a young phoenix from the ether.
4500h, 4090m, 3879e, 10p, 18800en, 18800w esSixb-

The air visibly wavers around a young phoenix as seething flames erupt across her form. With a high-pitched shriek, a young phoenix releases a torrid stream of white-hot fire at Cririk, who screams as flames lick across his skin as it blisters.
4500h, 4090m, 3879e, 10p, 18800en, 18800w esSixb-

Cririk coughs and splutters.
4500h, 4090m, 3879e, 10p, 18800en, 18800w esSixb-

The flames around Cririk suddenly erupt into a blazing pyre.
4500h, 4090m, 3879e, 10p, 18800en, 18800w esSixb-

Cririk cries out and holds his head.
4500h, 4090m, 3879e, 10p, 18800en, 18800w esSixb-

With a loud hiss of steam, you sigh in relief as the waters put out the flames on your body.

blink phoenix
You blink incredulously at a young phoenix.

Vathael points his staff at Cririk, and the burning ball at its tip flares and shoots a stream of liquid fire that blasts Cririk, scorching his flesh.
Cririk is blown to smithereens.
Cririk has been slain by Vathael.

get body
You pick up the corpse of Cririk.

tell cririk You see my point, sir?
You tell Cririk Adom, "You see my point, sir?"

edit: The tell is dramatic for the sake of being an actual IC argument instead of "CF us or you lose fighters".
Urazial2010-01-07 23:01:44
Maybe Cririk is waiting for someone to put things to him in a way that's palatable to his lucidian sensibilities? Or perhaps you all ought to have a petition signed and submit it to him (filled in triplicate, with proper authorizations, notarized, etc., etc.). If that all fails, perhaps kick him in his crystalized biscuits and hope that works.

Falling short of those, you could, you know, do your own thing regardless of what he says. Maybe he's looking to see who will actually take matters into their own hands.
Rika2010-01-07 23:02:31
Cririk Adom says, "I still fail to see your point."
Furien2010-01-07 23:04:43
Maybe, I don't know, Cririk is being Cririk, and this is actually just being continued to encourage people to contest him so the organization can see player leadership.

(Unless we're actually being refused that. Which would be silly.)
Arel2010-01-07 23:04:56
I feel like you guys are being a little bit over-dramatic. Fighters are not relegated to CR1, but the highest you can go on PKing alone is CR4 (the "middle" caste).
Vathael2010-01-07 23:05:01
You point your staff at Cririk, and the burning ball at its tip flares and shoots a stream of liquid fire that blasts Cririk, scorching his flesh.
Cririk is blown to smithereens.
You have slain Cririk.

That book didn't save him that time.

I dunno, right now he's looking to favour people and is looking past pretty much everyone that defends regularly, even if they are just CR1.

This.
Rodngar2010-01-07 23:06:43
I still continue to say that I love you, Vathael. That was perfect timing and now I think Cririk thinks we set it up. tongue.gif
Arel2010-01-07 23:07:48
Did anyone suggest to Cririk that any of the defenders be favoured? He's been badgering everyone for suggestions for awhile now.

(Technically, "you" did, as it was discussed a bit on a clan before it happened. Though one you were not in. And happened because of this thread. But, IC, no setting up.)
Rodngar2010-01-07 23:10:07
Hahaha, really?

Also, Arel, I think you failed to notice that he ignored favoring us - and in fact asked on CT for suggestions, then said after getting some for raid defense, "Now something that doesn't involve PK!" basically. Meanwhile, the PKers sat there at CR1 and a handful of people got favored for donating gold, writing books that were before Hallifax became a player org, etc.

So e-mail support about how you feel abused as a PKer, please let them know how much money PK generates for this game, and how you feel abused and mistreated. Maybe they will talk to Cririk about being more "even-handed" about the favours.

Noone claimed otherwise.

And putting in like 700 power a day for a couple of days. Oh wait, he got two favours for that one.
