Are the rules for each of the contests posted somewhere, or known? It would be nice to be able to prepare for them.
For example for the Chaos Hamster event will you be getting points as you pick up hamsters or do you have to hold all the hamsters at the end of the event? Is there sharing? Is it Prime only? What if you leave Prime while carrying hamsters? I'm assuming you can't hide out in your guildhall if you get the Purple One, so what exactly is the rule there? Will there be hamsters in the cities and communes? In villages? Or just non-aligned areas? Etc.
For the Justice Debate event can anyone help you while debating? Are there any skills or enchantments or whatnot that you can't use? Can you use a beast? Etc.
For the Life event, what does it mean to save denizens?
Detailed info on all the events would be much appreciated.

For Chaos, the Seal-winner is the one who has the Chaos Hamster at the end of the event. Fairly sure it's no-sharing, but if you -do- hold other hamsters, you have to get rid of them before you can pick up the Chaos Hamster, or it teleports away. Prime only, they'd vanish (as the Chaos one does). Don't think you can enter org territory without the same happening to the Chaos Hamster, dunno about the others. Hamsters generally show up in cities and villages, but the Chaos Hamster is only in neutral territory (or should be).
Justice: you and the person you are debating with are removed to a room with a divine to watch over you. The restrictions on what you can/can't do? It's peaced, so nothing you couldn't do in a peaced village revolt. Don't think divinefire/refresh is allowed, although ascendancy presence was last time (not that it did anything). Don't know about beasts, you probably could.
Life event involves healing denizens, like Serenwilde's and Celest's collegium quests. Haven't been around for it myself, so I can't give you any more details.

I believe you are taken to a separate location to do the actual debating

Seren/Celest collegium healing quests are lesser replicas from memory

Building on what Esano and Saran have said, you can hold any other hamster wherever you want. It is only the Purple Hamster that you can't do a lot with. Basically, you have to stay on Prime away from any place that can potentially have guards (orgs, villages, etc). No changing elevations. No holding other hamsters while you have the Purple one. You also cannot share the purple one, since it'll just disappear whenever you try to get rid of it).
On a side note, a warning to everyone. You get both drunk and insane VERY fast, so much so that I don't think anything short of a high level warrior or a demigod could actually hold it for the full hour, even if you aren't attacked at all.
For Justice, I think any action you can do while peaced is okay. Will need to clarify on the day though, as these things are subject to change from year to year.
For Life, you go around everywhere on Prime, including UV, to find sick furrikin. When you greet them they'll be visibly sick with a particular disease and you have to give them the right cure and they'll get a new affliction. You need to cure each furrikin 3 times to get a point. Most points wins.

Quite a few peaceful skills were not allowed for Justice, either, although the only one I remember of those is Trueheal.
One important thing regarding Chaos that hasn't been mentioned (unless I'm blind): You can also just try to collect normal hamsters for points. You won't be able to win the Seal, but can score second or third (and thus win credits) like this due to the score (although you also gain alot of points for holding the purple hamster, so this can also not work if more than one person holds the purple one for a longer time). Last time Sarrasri barely caught the thing in the end, thus winning, and Rika, who had held it for most of the event, got second place due to the really high score from holding it. But someone who hadn't had it at all came in third, I think.
One important thing to note for most events is that you are almost guaranteed to be hunted by other players if you're in the top spots. So mobility and the ability to keep going are very important (and as much support as possible to either defend you or hunt down your competitors).

Last year we weren't allowed to use beasts in Justice. It was pretty inconsistent which charisma/ego/debate buffs were allowed and which weren't, and they were making calls on the question right there on the spot, even though many people had prepared those buffs in advance (often to no avail since the thing was delayed so much that many of them wore off before we started). I agree it would be nice if some of those rules were decided and published ahead (similarly about which "find a hidden place no one can get into" tactics are allowed in Chaos and which aren't, which also seemed a little inconsistent).
Rika2010-01-07 20:02:56
Any place on Prime (not sure if that includes UV or not) other than cities, communes, villages and any other place I may have missed where you can summon guards is fine. You cannot change elevations at all. Other than that, hide wherever you want.

Soo....you could be on the highway, enchant a set of statues, and sit in your own mini-fort? :/
Rika2010-01-07 20:34:51
Yes. It's not going to save you, though.

But you COULD have a squad of Demis sitting in a group of Enchanted Statues tuned against everyone other then them. This seems fairly...unfair.
Rika2010-01-07 20:50:59
Try it. I find it highly unlikely that you can survive an hour without dying in that situation.
Unknown2010-01-07 20:56:56
Statue up a pyromancer meld ahead of time... bang, boom, watch Gaudi get an ascendant. I think I'd die laughing.
I wonder if puking and steelgut in brewmeister could be used to get around the hamster's drunken effects. Or if a healer could lessen your insanity. As long as you have enough defenders I could see you getting through it alive, though it's a very unlikely scenario. Is it open PK during the Seal of Life challenge?

Because Life and saving denizens is all about death?
(In other words, no, it is not. Life is Avenger-protected.)

Good. I wouldn't put anything past the admins and their ability to skew competitions
Wouldn't it be funny if Azoth got a seal? I'd be down to level 30 by the time the final event ended.
Unknown2010-01-07 21:55:58
If people want you dead that badly, they'll find a way.

Super information, thanks everyone.
Anyone willing to help out their competitors and post a log of some of the Seal of Life contest from a previous year? So we (by we I mean me) can see what this furrikin healing looks like?

Yeah, I'm sure some people already have the whole thing set to triggers. Hopefully they switch it up to prevent that.

Actually, I have been too busy trying to get cures to the furrikin to actually bother saving lines.

I guess I'm lucky that way. With my client I just log everything all the time automatically. None of this worrying about saving before it leaves the buffer stuff, that people mention occasionally. I have 1.4GB of logs...
