Right, but fabled discernment is still a lot of credits in a tertiary skill for a guild that also needs all three guild skills and discipline transed.

Oh definitely, but 0% Fabled and 50% Mythical is still about a 100 credit difference.

Neither guardian guild really needs buffs, though, so I think Wrack and Absolve are just doomed to wallow in uselessness. Maybe one of the upcoming guardian guilds will feature a viable manakill.

Yeah, I don't think we're ever going to see the guardian mana kills buffed. For one thing they already have another viable kill method, and the mana kills aren't bad at all in group fights where you have other people to amissio/mindblast/etc.

Why wouldn't someone make a warrior? I have a warrior alt that I'm pretty satisfied so far how he turned out. He has myth weapon skill, potionlist, and a tracking dog, all fun stuff.
Unknown2010-01-08 00:30:32
A warrior can't do squat in PvP without thousands of credits worth of runes. They also can't do much with tracking or a myth weapon skill, so that must not be your intent. But all guilds work for low credits if you never plan on killing anything (though I guess a wiccan would want trans moon/night for hunting).
Unknown2010-01-08 03:17:22
Take it from me, warriors are freakin' expensive compared to everyone else.

You can if your name is Geb, as everyone loves to bring up.

Too bad we're not all Geb, huh.

Ceren did too. You can do decent in mid-tier without runes. I won't be beating Geb, Narsrim, Ceren, Shuyin, Xielithoid, or Desitrus, but I can pretty much destroy anyone in the Aquamancer's guild!

That's like bragging that you can beat all the kids in the Special Olympics.

Do not bad mouth the Forren. Or else I'll start coming in with raids and focus on killing noncom Aquas.

I would say that I could beat you too, but you couldn't even qualify for the Special Olympics.

Now I can't remember if you were a Demi in that arena event or not yet?

Also, I didn't know you swung that way.
Lorina2010-01-08 08:47:53
Haha, you totally missed it then when I openly hit on Ilyarin.
I added him on facebook, but it didn't go well. I am going to stop talking now, so off subject...It's late...

I thought you actually said you didn't swing that way when Myndaen asked you a really long time ago?

Isn't Geb omnitrans and by definition not poor? There was also an old thread on artiwhores and he had a lot if not the most.

Geb was my goal when I was trying to surpass the largest collection of artifacts.

The threads about Geb fighting without artifacts, I'm pretty sure only applied to him using PvE weapons for PvP.

Actually, I'd pick a warrior guild (maybe one of the communes since they have very useful trans totem specializations). If you can learn how to be effective, it can be a very rewarding experience. If you're going to buy a few credits at a time, you could focus on maxing out knighthood first, get flex in athletics, focus mind in discipline, some lessons in combat (I forgot what to aim for), and work on maxing out whichever totems spec you pick.

You won't be beating anyone fantastic in a jiffy but if you're competent, you'll hold decently and be able to kill most people (minus some classes which seem built to beat balance using warriors). Hunting as a warrior is fairly easy with skills like regeneration, transmute and surge (if you get it, 50% Mythical).

EDIT: Also, contrary to popular belief, artifacts are not a necessity for warriors. Sure, artifacts affect them more than any other class and make the job (of killing others) much easier but they are far from a requirement.
Rael2010-01-11 17:21:27
They said don't go warrior if you're not going to buy thousands of credits but I didn't listen. They said mugwumps make awful warriors but I did it anyway. They might have been right about mugwump part but I wouldn't worry too much about credits because 300 is plenty.

Although I don't see myself as a low credit warrior relative to everyone else (or even just the Ebonguard) I guess that's what I am. I bought 400 credits during a 30% promotional sale. All of the credits were converted to lessons and distributed amongst the following skills. Bonus lessons are also quite significant.

Athletics -> Surge
Planar -> Conglut
Totems/Night -> Nightkiss
Axelord -> Fabled (because I ran out of lessons)

If you're just planning to hunt this worked out for me.

If I had a do-over I would recommend the following:
Knighthood -> Trans
Planar -> Expert (The requirement for conglutination has been lowered, hurrah)
Aethercraft -> Up to flashpoints or transcend it. You should become a pilot so you can lead hunts.
Thirdeye (discernment), squinting (environment), insomnia (discipline)
Spend the remainder on something you enjoy and consider buying a decent system.
I still don't have focus mind so maybe it's really useful but it also requires a large number of lessons. For combat I've gotten by with envenom.

I've replaced nightkiss with knighthood because
1) Hunting with nightkiss is really slow even with the mugwump equilibrium bonus. That being said I was pretty clueless and hunted to circle 85 before I earned enough credits to transcend knighthood and discover my folly. What you don't know doesn't hurt you!
2) You'll retire early due to savings on mana potion but you won't need to invest in a set of expensive weapons.
3) You'll run out of willpower very quickly especially when used in conjunction with regeneration
4) You'll be able to participate in group pvp. There is a HUGE difference between fabled and trans weapon spec. I remember reviewing logs and wondering how I could consistently whiff 4 or 5 times in a row against demigods. I'm pretty sure this was the reason. As far as pvp go my knowledge and skills are shoddy to nonexistant, but I see myself as the Glom zerg or an annoying mosquito.

I would hunt until circle 75. By then you'll pretty much get idea, life will become boring, and the going will begin to get tough so take up aetherhunting. Once you're circle 85+ criticals will make life that much easier and you can return to the bashing for gold and buy credits IG.

There are also a lot of giveaways IG and it's possible to win many prizes in competitions/events. They tend to favour those who play/know/have a lot but occasionally you get lucky wink.gif

3. I have a 360 and about 10 - 20 games. I haven't touched the thing since the last time I shot Aliod full on with my shotgun in L4D months ago. I play IRE games daily. It may seem like a large sum of RL cash for credits in comparison, but it comes down to what do you use more. If you are like me, spending 300.00 on an Xbox you use once a month hardly seems like a good investment.

I am -still- picking pellets out of my face, thank you very much..
