There's a rather vast difference between Demis sensing the Domoths and culture ministers knowing what happens at the world stage. Primarily, the Demis and ascendants (although mostly ascendants at this point, admittedly) might need to know what happens to the domoths; if one is challenged, they'd might want to intervene; if one they hold is absolved, they'd most likely want to intervent; if one comes out of dormancy, they might want to upgrade it or absolve it. Culture ministers have no such need.

There's lots of good plays to watch there, too, so what's the big deal? It's not like it's ever not worth the hike.
