Make instrument cases a cheaper, portable instrument rack that doesn't reduce decay, and make it an item in Artisan. No business stolen, people get an RP good that they want, combatants who don't give a damn won't use it over racks, voila, everyone's happy.

Instruments don't decay anyway...
Lendren2011-09-30 13:52:23
Well, technically they do, but as long as they're being used they also anti-decay back up to 100.

Go pick on Bookbinding -- they can still remember when they were the worst, and they need to be taken down a peg.

Why you gotta hate? sad.gif

Cuz origami alone outsells all of Artisan, and they just took the weakest trans tradeskill in the game by far, and what did they do, they nerfed it. Kick a puppy enough times and it learns to bite!

The idea:

Add a bit of object based simplicity to the realm so I can get a scythe as a two handed blade weapon. I am not a particular fan of warriors but I would happily become a pureblade if I could wield a scythe. Keep being told its not possible after all this time.

(This would seem simple because you take the code for katana and change verb to scythe I would think, least thats what it would seem to me, I could be wrong 130% as I dont speak rapture).

Code certain rooms that are hard to get to (Like, for example, behind the Lava Falls) to not have quest items spawn inside of them?

Let commune and cities stock letters made by bookbinders or donated at a post office, and let the money go to their respective organizations?

Introduce cellos as one of the musical instruments available to play?
Enyalida2011-10-03 00:16:02
The city or commune can just seize one of the shops as a commune or city shop, this is already doable and to some extent done.

Can you walk around with a cello and still play it well? I've seen it done, but it just dosn't make sense. It WOULD be cool if artisans could make... lesser quality instruments that can't be used for the bard things that everyone else could use for RP.
Lendren2011-10-03 00:28:38
Well, we can: flutes and trumpets. Honestly, I've sold more flutes for RP purposes than for tinkering. Wish that would be extended to other instruments, but we'd need to make up some kind of tinkering application for them. It can be something no one will ever want or use, as long as it lets us tick the checkbox of "it has a use and isn't just for RP".
Enyalida2011-10-03 00:36:08
Hmm. Call the skill "Orchestration", including nouns of instruments that you can't use for bard-ing, but would use to complete an orchestra. The use could be, uh... If you have an orchestra playing (more then one person with an orchestra instrument, or bards) you can CONDUCT ORCHESTRA/ENSEMBLE and give a boost to the duration of tinkering music enchants, the watches. Perhaps if you wind a musicbox with the buff up, it makes it a bit stronger or something. Bards would count more then other people, I guess.

I would definitely get a shield rune for that cello on one side, so I can wield it like a club and shield stun whore people. But other than that, yes, I'm sure that walking around with a cello is doable, it could be dragged by the smaller races, or they can develop the muscles for it (description wise). As for playing it, you can play the cello standing up, crouching, or sitting on a chair. And for the two handed thing, even when playing a violin or a viola, you will still use both hands, but you can still wield on the other hand - which doesn't make any sense...

But but but, it could be practical, holding the cello by the neck, have it strapped to your back, the grab the neck and tuck your thumb across the backside of the neck, stroke the strings with your fingers, hug it against your chest and weave the bow across the strings and play a deeper, stronger note for the songs... I don't want to emote it, because then I would feel like i'm breaking some RP rule and get shrubbed for it.

On the side note: A SIMPLE IDEA!!!

As far as AFFINITY goes, if a player is dormant, let the affinity bonus disappear. I don't know if it's just me, but i think that a person could take advantage of the affinity by creating multiple characters, shove them in an order, and make their god or goddess stronger by having the passive gain from affinity. So again, dormant characters, no affinity please.
Unknown2011-10-03 13:09:48
I don't see why we should slap restrictions on unimportant mechanics in some kind of alarmist preemptive strike, to be honest. If someone made multiple order-bound characters just to increase affinity passive, that's their own time wasted for a reqlly rather unimportant and trivial attempt at gaming the system.

On a more serious note, put in a function that migrates my pocketbelt contents into my rift in one shot?

You generally have the shield strapped to your arm, you aren't necessarily holding it in your hand.

The point was more playing with skill, keeping in tune for the music skills. Trust me, moving is devilishly hard when the hand holding up the instrument is also trying to vertically finger the neck with accuracy. If you have it across the body, strapped on, how do impales work? A lot of belief is suspended, making instruments rock hard and invincible. I'm not worried about the realism of breaking the cello, it's more that the impale would be stopped by an invincible instrument strapped to your body. Anyways, moving would be extremely unwieldy with a cello strapped to you all the time. As a cello player myself, I wished I could play it as a bard in Lusty, but I'd be fine with an RP only, non-weapon cello to be played more or less stationary.

heh, cello players of the world unite. True, at least being able to rp with a physical cello before me would be enough.

Instrument cases sound completely useless. Like others said they already don't decay if you're active and play them a little, and if you're not active store them in a rack

they aren't useless in that you can properly rp with them and use them and such. Something for the bards to hold their instruments with, combatants don't need to bother with it, except lets say for a ceremony and such, so why not?

They don't add things that are RP only, and any reasonable uses for a case are already covered. Sorry.
