That doesn't necessarily mean it'll never happen. People do change their minds. Wasn't this also pre-bodyscan era, when there was a tighter rein on damage type/dmp information?
Unknown2012-03-19 03:28:06
I suppose you could gather it using the rather unrefined method of going, getting beat up, and then deffing up to each damage type...one at a time.
Malarious2012-03-19 06:05:01
I think I suggested this before, but bump on it (if its possible)
BODYSCAN ARMOUR
Should list the level of wound and damage reduction with the following:
- Armour
- Shield/deflect
- Psiarmour
- Etc
I cannot even think of all the skills that reduce it but I am pretty sure that except for maybe psiarmour normal armour stats are nonlinear so you cannot just throw them in an AB
Example
-=-=-=-=-=-=- Bodyscan ARMOUR -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Head DMP FLAT%
Tattoos 9001
Psiarmour 12%
80% 12% 92%
Chest
Tattoos 9001
Deflect 1000
Psiarmour 12%
87% 12% 99%
Etc, the presence of information is an extremely helpful thing to have. And bodyscan has been a gods-send!

This one has been brought up and laid to rest more than once, for coding reasons. It isn't (easily) possible.
Armor code is apparently very convoluted, taking into account not just your armor stats and shield stats mashed together in some complicated non-linear-non-additive fashion, the attacker's weapon stats (if applicable), your physical stats, your attacker's physical stats, your attacker's combat skill (if applicable), possibly your combat skill, the condition of your armor/shield, dmp reduction to those damage types you have, probably a pinch of rng (knowing warriors) and so on.

There is no RNG, no. For a specific situation, you always get the same amount of protection against an attack. The rest is true though, as far as I know.
Enyalida2012-03-19 06:28:44
Not to mention that a robes-wearer doing something like.. ARMSTAT gets a nice nil readout about how they have no armor at all.
Ssaliss2012-03-19 07:09:00
Ummm... We do?

Oh well... I do. I'll figure out why later.
Ssaliss2012-03-19 12:13:18
Do you have one of those new robes that don't have a hood? Could be why. If so, I'd say BUG it.
vorld2012-03-19 14:30:10
Kialkarkea:
Smack your beast.
That would not be very accurate. Unless beasts have weakness and resistances
Enyalida2012-03-19 14:46:10
Also, I've heard mention that the way damage works on beasts is somehow screwy.
Ssaliss2012-03-19 18:32:44
Right now, GMCP makes a difference between the normal and liquid rift by using "normal: " and "liquid: " in front of their descriptions. Expanding this to give the general category of riftable would be nice; for instance, it could say "herb: ", "gem: ", "metal: " etc. instead of just "normal".
Iosai2012-03-19 19:04:30
That isn't the meaning of word: normal means the item is stored in the normal rift. Liquid means the liquid rift. If you had items of a certain type, you'd also see "skin", "tarot", "gem", etcetera. So doing that isn't really desirable.

eritheyl:I would absolutely love this. However, lore-wise, I don't think that mortals can read these types of crystals (remember Meridian being given the crystal by the mortals with the message in it that they couldn't read) unless it was a different kind altogether that we could, in fact, read. It'd be cool if you could conceal or hide them as well, to record things clandestinely (a la Crow Spy). As far as putting them in a bookshelf, I'd rather see a crystal respository to keep them separate. We could also have apparati that hold and project/play the crystals for multiple people, like a projection. So many great opportunities with this.
Memory crystals. Just small ones! Perhaps crafted by a jeweler or common artist, and later enchanted (another slightly useful thing for tinkers, maybe! It's not inherently that tinkery, but still!). Could have various 'levels' requiring increasing number of charges. Maybe one minute, three minutes, and five minutes? Could be used for recording meetings, friendly chats, short musical performances, et cetera. And maaaybe even allow them to be annexed into bookshelves/libraries?

F mortals not being able to read crystals! Let's put some HALLIFAX SCIENCE on that :censor: and get us some memories!.
Lendren2012-03-19 22:10:34
Yeah, the "mortals can't do this" thing went away when Hallifax went down to the Hallimart and bought the jumbo pack of plinths.
Unknown2012-03-20 04:06:03
Hallifax has Hallmarks?
Enyalida2012-03-20 04:30:34
Their room descs involve memory crystals and readers. Serenwilde can also read memory crystal type things with our plinth, iirc. It's not unheard of!
EDIT:
From the halli library, been there since day one. I specifically looked for these, I remember!
I think it'd be cooler for bookbinders to get a scribe ability, that creates a certified (mechanical) record of everything said in a room in their presence while recording with a nice formatting applied that really makes it like they've acted as stenographer for some official event. That would be a really cool way to have IC 'logs' that prove that something (like the signing of a document, or some verbal agreement) is precise, in combination with seals.
EDIT:
Books fill each shelf and beside them are crystalline discs, memory crystal replicas of the
original works. Upon the ground floor stands a series of wide, white desks. Processing machines and
memory-readers litter the desks' surfaces, each of which are attached to filigreed, glass screens to
facilitate reading.

Hallifax does not share its technical marvels of scientific engineering with the uncivilized masses of the Basin, so it's a moot point.
