We should be able to burst them too!
Well, that'll be a painful experience considering their super attack and you not being able to sip as a dreambody, but go for it. >.>

An idea to improve the pantograph - as it is at present they are rather rare since not many people see the point in buying one @ 200 credits purely to be able to fit a little bit more furniture in a room, I was thinking something along the lines of the following:
Change DECONSTRUCT to DEMOLISH - Destroys the target piece of furniture - no commodities saved
add "ASK name TO DECONSTRUCT item" - Gets the artisan present that has a pantograph to carefully dismantle the furniture, preserving some of the commodities (can only be used by the owner of said manse/furniture to prevent abuse)
EDIT: Corrected syntax to valid commands

When a stratagem defined as a REPEAT action fires, it should drop to the end of the stratagem queue; this would allow you to have multiple repeating stratagems defined together and let them automatically rotate (for example, influencing).

I think that's already incoming. Unless Someone was playing a prank on me earlier :(

I was just thinking about this last night. I want to get a stasis gem once I have my manse furniture figured out, but what if I change my mind? I think you have to be the manse owner to deconstruct furniture? That makes it really hard for me, since I already take forever to make up my mind about this kind of stuff. And then it's going to be permanent!?!

That is the exact reason I said to have a command "ASK person TO DISMANTLE item", that way the owner and the artisan must both be present, and the owner has to issue the command.

You have to be manse-owner to apply a stasis gem anyways, so that appears to be a non-issue-- and if you're the manse owner you don't need to be an artisan to destroy it. So, technically, you can remove all the furniture in a room, relink it (essentially moving it to a new place), give it a new description, and put new and relevant furniture in for its new purpose.
You won't be locked in; but as long as you like the furniture selection it won't go away on you!
Lilia2012-04-15 01:19:28
I don't understand. How can you destroy furniture without being an artisan?

I desire a GTSTELLS to go along with all the other lovely aether history commands.

Type DECONSTRUCT.
That was easy!
Edit: You have to be the manse owner to do it in a manse, the GM (or GA, I forget which) to do it in a guildhall, or CL to do it in an org. You can't destroy furniture in other locations.

I've always wondered why there isn't a GNTELLS, myself.

any home owner can. There's a log somewhere of a bunch of people coming into the room with hammers, breaking apart everything, then leaving.
But as for the deconstruction idea, if that can be done on non-furniture artisan items, that would be great!
Kagato2012-04-15 08:32:32
The main thing that gave me the idea is the fact that I know that there are people that have had certain more expensive pieces of furniture (chandeliers, thrones and the like) that they have had for quite some time and want to change the decor, but the simple fact that roughly 100,000 gold worth of commodities will simply go up in smoke is a MAJOR put-off. I think it also factors to an extent into why there is not many chandelier/throne designs - the demand for thrones and chandeliers is EXTREMELY finite due to the sheer cost and their insanely long lifespan. If they wanted to balance it a bit, maybe have it work off what % of the decay time has passed (if over 50% of the lifespan has passed, they get maybe 25% of their materials back. If less than a lusternian day has passed (for example if someone accidentally made the wrong design or they changed their mind), they get 95-100% of the commodities back.
Side note: The fact that most artisan pieces as standard have an extraordinarily long decay time kills a LOT of potential business for artisans, since those that can afford to buy a manse and fill it with furniture can often afford stasis gems, ensuring they never need to replace it. Is there any other profession that has the majority of their products lasting more than 100 months besides making paintings and statues in Arts?
Examples of decay times:
Rocking Chair/Normal chair: 200 months
Hammock/Bed: 125 months
Chandelier/Throne: 600 months approx (so that is 1 throne/chandelier a little over every 1.5 IRL years, even without a stasis gem)
Drapes: 200+ months
Desk: unknown, but definitely 150+ months

Estarra has said outright that she does not want to ever let anything come back from deconstruction, and that the idea that once you build it you're stuck with it is intentional. So is the fact that you can't upkeep. There have been a lot of proposals that would help make artisan compare with the other tradeskills; the overhaul Bookbinding got with stationery and origami shows that it's at least possible to pull it out of the gutter, but Artisan remains pretty much untouched. Only thing we got was music boxes and horns... remember those? Someone bought one once. (Actually, I sell a watch every now and then, though amusingly it's always just to tell time, never for the enchantments.)
Xenthos2012-04-15 14:31:37
You never sell horns with Avarice? That's odd.
I love Avarice.

To be honest, the suggestions are pretty much a last ditch attempt for me to find something to keep me in Artisanry - The one main thing that puts me off forgetting it is the fact that I will lose 343 lessons in the transition, to make those back I will have to use roughly half the credits I'd get back from selling my artifact - but to be honest business is dismal. I get maybe one job a week and maybe one or two small purchases (a pipe or an instrument) from my shop - nowhere near enough to cover the cost of renting a city shop. I'd be better off taking up enchanting and charging peoples cubes, it takes time but at least people offer a good 20,000 gold or more in tips for your time.

"Simple" idea:
Create a Trade envoy, so we always have someone handling the trades while allowing other guilds to always have a chance to work on their own skills. Maybe 2-4 slots a month? Can be finalized and worked on anytime? <.<
I nominate Ssaliss!

I'd like if artisans could construct unique sculptures and busts. Sculptures could be functionally identical to statues, or just for aesthetics. I think it would be a nice change to the ubiquitous 'A statue of a random mob is here.'

Okay, I think Iosai said to me in-game this, but I'm posting it anyway.
Some people make influencer alts if they've played bashers for long times, and it's fun! The ability to get your experience without killing things (leaving the bodies for other bashers) is great, especially when you can avoid enemy status! So, why is there only achievements for newbies for killing? Newton's Bane -- Kill 100 gnomes. Can't we have the same things for our poor little influencers running around Newton? That's an awful lot of free lessons to have to miss out on because of RP, or how you want to build your character.
