I can at least take some comfort in the knowledge that some of these 'aetherdemigods' will have trouble building up essence on their own.
Inquisitor of Renewal, Inagin, the Prettiest Companion (Male Demigod).
He is ranked 4th in Lusternia.
Also as far as karma goes, the max amount of essence a ship can hold is 65k, less than 1 fully imbued item. The karma from that offering (18-19%) is split between every person locked in to a module.

I'm lvl 92 human, myth in aethercraft, 100% in turret, and I can't actively turret for 3 hours. I can probably do around an hour and a half/two hours (more like an hour if my turret is boosted), after which I sit somewhere stupidly for half an hour to recover.
The gold is also not that great if the empath is being fair and you have a big crew (which helps more people get experience); you can definitely make more gold, offerings, and karma bashing. The tradeoff though, is that you don't need curatives for aetherbashing.

I think a way to go with this is to bump up some serious skills in the set...just like bashing or influencing, it should not be an easy thing just to be able to operate the craft for bashing.
By bumping up skills we can assure that no real newbs are bashing for experience this way, which is the problem.
Frankly I liked it the way it use to be with more of a thing saying 'You can't turret unless you are specialized.'
The new way has made it abit easier for everyone to just alllll hop on at lvl 5 and get a free ride up. I played for 5 years before I got demigoddess, but there are people playing for 1-2 months getting Demi now? I'm not pleased. Make people put effort into the skill so that they can EARN IT.

The fact it took you 5 years doesn't mean it was hard back in "your day". It means you were slow and barely put any effort into it. There were people getting demigod far faster than 5 years time before aetherbashing came about, even before Influencing came about.

I agree, there was alot of slacking/fighting...the point still remains it took longer then 2 MONTHS to become a demigod. We had to do work back then, not sit on our asses and read books, make dinner, watch anime, play WoW, while aetherbashing. Everyone and their mom, including pilots, Auto's the entire time, there is no effort.
Edit: The Pirate Hearth takes Novice Freshmens, gives them the required few credits, and shoves them on a ship with them. I cannot approve of this.
Gregori2010-01-22 23:42:40
I don't know who you are trying to kid, but I have never needed to "put effort" into bashing or influencing. In fact I am watching season 8 of X-files and typing on the forums as I influence right this minute.
This I agree with. this disgusts me. They have a tendency to tell novices "quit your guild so they can't make you learn guild skills and then learn aethercraft instead and come sit on the ship"

Maybe a level requirement like Psionics(I think?) use to have.
Kiradawea2010-01-22 23:47:25
Psionics (the mage kind) only need you to enter the elemental archway.
Munsia2010-01-22 23:48:08
Edit: Apparently I've been imagining this....ANYWAY. Level restriction would be a nice idea.

And the worst part is, water is the same, but when you launch from air there is nothing, nada. If you launch from etherglom, nothing nada.

I think there might actually be something weird (some flag not set allowing vortexes to be spawned maybe) with the aspace around etherglom, cause I've tried flying around there on many occasions to try to spawn some to no avail. You could try bugging it. There're so many other places to hunt in ethereal that I never bothered, but air might be more of an issue for you Hallifax types.
Munsia2010-01-23 00:34:58
Could we get back to the main issue at hand....
Gregori2010-01-23 00:56:58
The main issue at hand is a stupid issue.
I told you all 5 years ago that if you let experience run rampant that you would end up with 50+ demigods in no time at all. Everyone cried about how you should be able to get demigod easier, that it should not be so hard to get. Nothing was done to curb it, now we have... 50+ demigods and people are crying about it.
The door was left open so long that it has burst off the hinges with the influx of players stampeding to demigod and closing the door now is just a slap in the face to players who will now get shut out.
With this game revolving more and more around the demigod players there is no reason anymore to make it harder.
If you wanted to fix experience you should have done it way back when you all were crying about losing experience for deaths and not getting enough experience doing other things and how hard it was to get to demigod. Not after you have opened Pandora's Box.
