He's a Cantor. How the censor.gif would he do that?

Octave + perfect fifth + flare = gtfo

I've always felt that Athletics FLEX should destroy any shirts you're wearing.

Why aren't you a coder? Get to it.

If they ever complain about you running, say you're simply advancing in another direction.

Not that big of a threat. The cantor spec adds almost nothing to that and with just those abilities, I see no real hindering or movement to their win condition. Except in the most extreme cases, you can add Spiritsinger off-eq to that and you can still win without running (especially with the Spiritsinger skill knocked you off-eq when you tried to run). You need useful passives to be much of a threat as a bard.

One of Acrobatics few redeeming qualities for bards is hosing monks (and druids and Aeromancers). Between contort and forwardflip (which I very lovingly aliased "stopit" in honor of my Tahtetso sparring partners), there's not that much room for scary affliction stacking on their end. On the bard end, you have limited opportunities to flee, afflictions that are difficult to cure, and those difficult to cure afflictions are buried beneath imprecise but important afflictions dealt by colourspray and the variations thereof, often delivered four at a time. Cantors don't have a meaningful kill condition, but you don't even have to touch your song spec to make monks cry.

The only thing less honorable than running away from an instakill is a druid setting up their demesne pre-spar.

"WTF you coward. if it were a real fight you'd have to meld and set up effects while I hit you."

Riddle me this: I had 3k health when I was a monk. I had all of that on top of passive confusion and an additional four second eq-loss. I would never lose (except maybe a Xiel-class bard). I did not use power and I rarely ran. I got hit with flare and the spiritsinger eq-loss and confusion at the same time. Sometimes I would be off-eq for a second song tic. How did I do it?

You fought stupid bards, before momentum, or immediately after momentum when a couple guilds were way out of whack. There are no alternatives. Monks don't get to see three momentum.

EDIT: And I wouldn't dispute "never lose," since as far as I can tell, Cantor combat strategy against aware and competent opponents seems to be whore out mesmerize and try to stick Requiem. Still, you'd never win either.

chin.gif Aren't you Azoth? Every time someone tries to kill you, you run?

I swear, sometimes I think the forum Azoth and the game Azoth are different people.

Post-momentum, he would kill people twice my might without a problem, and this was before any Spiritsinger nerfs when I was Shofangi champ.

It is called gust, but I used bullkick. Force them out of the room, then they wasted the octave power and the perfectfifth power. Then when they come back, they lost all that power. I lost nothing.

And with the changes that have happened since then, my katas would not have changed save for how I razed, but really, not really an affect on them since I actually expected the first attack to usually be parried.

Except all your wounds and momentum. Like I said, stupid bards.

I was off-eq for 12 seconds at a time. What momentum and wounds? As a bard of any bard spec, you would not have done any better, gramps. If I started my offense as a monk, you never got an attack in.

Anyway, we're really far off topic. Point is, I think Cantors need some help in the offense department.

They do. Vusilk seems to have her head on straight. Straighter than the peanut gallery, at least.

Anyways, that pretty much reinforces the point. Maybe you didn't lose often, but you also never got to win. Not if the bard was aware and competent.

No, I won every time. Fatality. I only needed 20 seconds of offense to beat 99.9% of people.

But yeah, go go Cantors envoy! biggrin.gif
Xavius2010-01-23 03:26:08
Who would let you get 20 seconds, though? Monks have to be proned every other combo. No exceptions.

You wouldn't have a choice. Once my offense started for most people, you either need to dfire, run, or have someone else help. You never would have got the chance to attack.
Xavius2010-01-23 03:31:04
Shofangi have never been crippling with zero momentum. I'm going to stand by my stupid bard assessment.
