Ev, thanks for listening, but here's the basic problem.

We have to basically do far more steps than any other org, for something that is highly essential, especially in heavy conflict, and in passive power gen. I know you guys hate hearing this because of everything on your plate, but The power quest is just gonna be prohibitively tedious until it gets looked at seriously

The powerquest is so bad, I'd rather go bashing!

Edit: It is a good quest in flavor and everything, but... pain in a jar...
Genos2010-02-02 08:57:10
Why was the amount of power generated doubled without doubling the amount of motes made? Also, the quest would be a lot more tolerable if you were at least able to refer to the spheres by their colours.

Can't do that, unfortunately. Would if I could!

Reduce power added from 4 to 2. Increase motes added from 1 to 2. Allow manipulation of spheres by colour (ie 'give blue to X', or even 'give bluesphere') rather than purely by item #.

That'll solve the problem(s).
Eventru2010-02-02 09:28:15
The spheres operate identically to essence, in terms of sphere-fusion/essence-conversion. Like I said, can't do anything about it (would if I could!) - for the same reason one cannot give lightessence to bloo

I can't speak for anything mechanically speaking, but I quite enjoy the spheres and generator quest. I sometimes hit a dead end waiting for joule respawn, but not all that long. I also like how it adds culture and complexity to the city, and adds another link between science, art and power.
It takes some learning, remembering the colours, but I've just stuck the helpscroll on an alias, so that when I type 'colours', it opens the list, and scrolls down to the information.

Essentially, the only problem that I have with it at all, is that the Transphenortex Grid is vastly seperate from the rest of everything else. No tells, or any aethers can get in - NEWBIE aside. Only the Newbie channel and Gods can be heard inside the Grid, making it very hard to co-ordinate empowerment efforts.

I presume the Transphenortex Grid is your nexus world. If so, BUG it - citizens should be able to communicate in and out of their own nexus world.

I bugged it and it was ruled "not a bug".

Why can't you change them so they aren't like essence and act like other quest items? Just have it so when you turn in the sphere it's destroyed and a new sphere is created and handed out. Also, I think there should be karma/experience for each step in the quest just like other power quests.

Alright, after grinding on the Primary Generator I have found the pattern as such...

Carmine, Lavender, Saffron, Indigo, Alabaster, Heliotrope, Sable, Vermilion, Celadon, Ecru, Columbine then Carmine, etc. For whatever reason I have yet to get Chartreuse so I'm assuming it's either been overlooked or is only needed to make Celadon.

I have had to do chartreuse did you do this loop multiple times?

Hmm, well I think I did about 22ish total. Were your results for the sequence similar to mine?

I haven't tried mapping it yet and probably won't have time to do so until the weekend maybe. I did the first fifty or so spheres then more afterward. Hallifax should have its members send every sphere entered into the grid to a single person for however long and then try to map the pattern off of that data.

Carmine, Lavender, Saffron, Indigo, Alabaster, Heliotrope, Sable, Vermilion, Celadon, Ecru, Columbine then Carmine, etc.

Just echoing I got this exact pattern twice in a row now. No Chartreuse individually, maybe Eventru forgot it?

One thing to note is that this pattern can only be done in two separate lots of joules, but it is still a welcome change being able to plan out all of the spheres before hand.

A lengthy pattern may have been reduced then

I'll look later.

Thanks for all the changes that have been made, but I have one last request:

Can you spawn an extra red and blue joule in the Grid and spawn one less black and one less yellow?

Reasoning?

Just still having nightmares about no yellow
Ayden2010-02-09 06:51:30
The reasoning is that at the moment we are only able to do 9 per hour and there are way too many yellow and black

I may have the numbers wrong, however on the above pattern you have eleven spheres if you start at columbine you can do 10 spheres until you hit ecru. Which keeping the spheres should be balanced out in the next hour.

EDIT: Well not balanced, really but ecru is what is stopping it from getting 10 an hour
