How are you guys liking the new MXP support?

Btw: if you are using CMud, make sure to go to Prefs, MXP, and check "Force remote MXP" while connected to Lusternia. Without this, MXP does not work correctly and displays a number of visual artifacts.

For those nubs like me, what is MXP and how does it help me?
Aoife2010-02-07 23:18:29
How do I not see weird stuff like this:

You see exits leading north, east, and west.
4030h, 4974m, 5220e, 10p, 18030en, 20274w ex-

when using MUSHClient? Supposedly said client does support MXP.

it is supposed to have limited support that makes certain commands work while discarding all others. not sure what went wrong with it

Mushclient:

CRTL+ALT+U

set MXP to yes - always

Gregori2010-02-07 23:27:59
MXP works fine in mushclient for me and I am sure there are people who will enjoy the point and click on directions and such, but personally I still prefer the numpad. Is there anything IRe or Lusternia in particular are planning to do with the MXP later on?

Does this do anything besides let me click on directions?

I think this is just a test, it would be a lot more usefull for browsing things like help, projects, library, buying things in stores, etc

Indeed, which is why I was curious if there was plans for that sort of thing. I would love it to be put in place for shop buying.

If I recall, MXP and Gems of Cloaking don't get along on the prompt line. The <> flag gets interpreted as MXP and stripped from the prompt line itself. You may want to look into that and if possible change the symbol on the prompt that indicates Gem of Cloaking.

As you can see, in exits on the map aren't show in MXP ohmy.gif

CONFIG COLOUR seems to not work with Mush with MXP is enabled. Says, at any rate, just went to neutral white font colour.
Gregori2010-02-08 00:55:01
Aetherspace I think also loses colour with mxp enabled in Mush. I know there was a bunch of things that MXP, IRE, and MUSH didn't like about each other and it's why I made sure it was always disabled.

The w after willpower in the prompt was white when I turned it on. D:
Arte2010-02-08 02:00:23
Has anyone else noticed that rooms with 'in' exits on the map are being displayed as , with no space or symbol in-between, since this update? I even toggled MXP off and disabled it, and all of my triggers, and it's still like that. Everyone I've asked says the map is displaying normally though.
Knorrith2010-02-08 06:09:26
@ Kharaen make sure you do CONFIG MXP ON in Lusternia. I found that when I didn't have them matching problems happened with the map.

It seems to work for me, but then again I haven't included MXP-support in my client yet.

Something I noticed was that with MXP off, the in-game map shows in exits as and with it on it shows them as (which, in most clients, gets translated into <. And no, I'm not asking you to fix it; that's on my side entirely tongue.gif ), so it should still show in-exits as they should be and clients shouldn't become too confused about MXP and in-exits either.

From my understanding, because MXP uses <> for its tags, those signs are sent with the html character code equivalents to MXP-on clients. If you were using an MXP enabled client, it would show properly.
