What rank are you, Lekius? And is this per Lusternian month? As in... every 25 rl hours...?
Happens at the weave (every 24 hours).
Unknown2010-02-13 01:32:55
Hah. 100,000 essence every 24 hours just to break even? That's a bit harsh.

Well... 100,000 essence is, technically, easy.
If you hunt an hour or so a day.
Razenth2010-02-13 01:37:17
Isn't that like, close to a hundred lobbies? That doesn't sound easy at all.

So when do you think we'll get told why this was added and what it adds to the game?
I'm not sure why you guys are over-analyzing it. The reasons for affinity are pretty much what people have brought up (binding cities and orders closer, etc.), though ultimately the incentives and disincentives are aimed more at gods than their followers. Anyway, it reinforces the original intent that orders in Lusternia are meant to buttress cities and communes.

You can get 50,000 offered just by clearing the Moors in one round, I think. A full bottle of esteem is 65535 essence and getting 2 in an hour is plausible (though might be closer to an hour and a half for most of you, assuming not a completely horrible race).

And you have decided to reinforce this intent, rather then allow the game to evolve...why?

No one is over-analyzing. It is more that people think it is a poor mechanic and don't understand why it was added. Now that you have told us we know what the intention was. How open would the admins be to adjusting the figures and how it works?
Edit: Also what Kialkarkea said, nothing seemed broken with how things were going. Has anyone ever complained about orders not being 100% tied to cities and communes? Even if they are not working with the original intent if people are happy with them then it seems silly to change them. People were happy with orders, no need to screw with them even if that wasn't the original intent in their function.
Xavius2010-02-13 01:50:07
Forget the figures, I object to the philosophy.

I'm not really open to redesigning how it works, but I had said I was open to ideas for more incentives!
Estarra2010-02-13 01:53:24
I really appreciate that some people don't see the need or object to the philosophy behind it, but this is one of those things that I believe will be in the best interests of the game in the long term. While I completely understand why you may disagree with that, I have to make the call.
Kante2010-02-13 01:54:17
If I recall correctly, as Othero said, no one has complained about Orders and Cities being a bit separated. In fact, with the release of Order Wars, I remember people complaining that Orders and Cities were TOO connected.

If we can't just toss it out all together (sorry Estarra but the whole thing seems unneeded) then make it incentives based. Those in the same org benefit the order while those not in the same org don't hurt it but also don't give benefits to the order. That way those inside the same city or commune are worth more to the order and their is more reason to be in them but you can still have people involved from outside.

Sorry, we're not going to get rid of the disincentives.

I would love a little crow-pet that sits on my shoulder!

The disincentives should at least be lowered some. At the moment they sort of just seem like a GTFO to anyone that isn't in the same org. That or go the full monty and ban people from being with a god who isn't in the same commune or city as them.
Unknown2010-02-13 02:08:40
I would've complained about cross-city/commune order issues, if Charune had any.
As an incentive, I'd like a way to be able to obtain Divine favours without having to wait years for a god (who is now gone away) to do it for me.

I've tried to write a reply 4-5 times now. But yeah. I'm just going to go drink.

We have a whole 1 person costing us more than 10k essence. He costs us 80k, but we <3 him, so.
And I discovered 2 more people than I thought who are in the Order but not in the Commune.

Well, I was like 2 ranks under the OH rank but with the 100k "disincentive" not even being neutralized by the 1k "bonus," I went down quite a few ranks to like rank 1.
